Edge Of Dead Update.
Progress
Edge Of Dead is progressing nicely. With all of the core mechanics finished work now is focused on finishing the remaining content, squashing bugs, and balancing game play. No final release date has been determined but it’s close. The prologue may get some attention before then too. Look here for weekly updates.
More Pixels
Artwork in the orbiting freighter level has been reworked. Added these cryogenic chambers. I wonder what or who is in them?
Hazards
Hazards in the industrial area include an out of control lightning tower. After much thought it was decided that the player should be able to destroy environmental hazards like this but not easily.
Smashing stuff was added recently. Each area now has it's own type of unique destructable clutter.
Check out the prologue
Have you always wanted to fight bone spiders, robots and a walking cactus at the same time? Now you can in the Edge Of Dead Prologue. It's available now. Get it here.
The 'Edge Of Dead Prologue' includes the first full level of the full game with a newly generated map every run, lots of enemy encounters, a shop and lots of loot to find. The game is set in a distant star system and pits the player against an alien invasion.
You will start by choosing a crew member, then move from one randomly generated level to another fighting numerous enemies in each level. You’ll need to clear the level of enemies before proceeding to the next. The game involves finding weapons, loot and money from various caches scattered around the level and from vanquished enemies. You can use these found items to power up your character before moving on to the next battle. There is an inventory system which allows you to see an items attributes and decide how and when to best use it. If your character dies during a run the game starts from the beginning and you will have to choose a new character and begin a new run. Choose a crew member, grab a weapon, and prepare for chaos in the Edge Of Dead prologue!

Added a shop room to the random level generator. Levels will now be created with a shop placed somewhere in them. Dead enemies will sometimes drop currency. Collect enough cash and head to the shop to purchase some loot.
You can now see item stats. Hold shift and hover over any item that you are carrying and a dialog box will appear showing the items attributes. Pushing and throwing stuff: DEVLOG 1
Added new ways to interact with objects in the game. You can now push furniture around and pick up and throw things like chairs. You can now use the furniture and other objects as mobile cover. Added Xbox controller support for movement.
Pushing objects Need to block a doorway to stop flesh eating beetles pouring in? Just push a couch in front of it. Most movable objects can be destroyed so they will work as cover for a while but not forever. Low objects like a couch for example will block or slow enemy movement but not bullets. Taller objects will block shots as well as movement. Objects can be pushed into each other with a speed penalty. The more things you are pushing around the slower you will move.
Throwing furniture If you’re out of ammo why not rip up that toilet and throw it. Throwing objects into enemies will push them back, stun them for a while, and cause them damage. Also the thrown object will take damage.
