Howdy Eggs! You may or may not have noticed a few new things in Eggs 1942.
Levels
The biggest recent addition to Eggs 1942 is the introduction to player levels and the XP system. This is still very much in the early stages and will be added to, tweaked and fiddled.
Most of the Missions and Egg Classes are locked for lower level players.
How do I get XP?
I'm glad you asked! Currently the main source of XP comes from the number of enemy eggs you've cracked. If you win a match then the number of cracked eggs gets doubled and added to your current XP. You also get bonus XP if you're playing a Mission - the harder the mission, the more points you get.
Oh! Almost forgot. You get XP from capturing and defending spawn bases.
New "end of mission" screen!
When you finish a match there's a new screen which tells you how many eggs you cracked and how much XP you've earned.
More things!
- Added "extra damage" and "extra health" as combo perks. These are currently unlocked at x5 and x10 combos.
- When a base is captured it sends out a little force that pushes all nearby eggs away.
- AI eggs no longer SOMETIMES spawn next to a base, always inside.
- The text that tells you about the game mode has been repositioned to the centre of the screen.
- The flag which indicates you are near a base is now the colour of the team which currently possesses that base.
Steam Achievements, Combos and more!
Hello eggs! Just a quick update this time.
Steam Achievements
- Every episode completed from the Missions list will award you an achievement.
- Getting certain amounts of cracks gives you achievements.
- I'm planning on adding more Steam achievements soon.
Combos
- Cracking a few Bad Eggs in a short amount of time will give you a combo.
- In a later update combos will activate special abilities.
Fixes
- When you get cracked while capturing an enemy base you no longer carry on to capture it from beyond the eggy grave.
- There was one music track that YouTube didn't like people using - that's gone now.
- The final mission for The Battle for Egg Island is now LESS impossible.
- The first mission for Saving Private Egg is now a little bit harder.
- The second mission for Saving Private Egg is now on the new Trenches map.
- On "Trenches" map there is a new trench linking the two blue starting bases.
New Map - "Trenches" and more things!
Eggs! Hello!
Another new map? Another new map! It's called Trenches and it has trenches!
I've also started work on the "Tactical Camera" which activates after you crack and are waiting for the reinforcements. Eventually this is where you'll be able to command your eggs, build defences and upgrade bases. At the moment it's just a spectator mode, but at least you can look around the battlefield!
- You can see through water now! Sort of! I noticed most people try to jump over the water on Landings, you can see that it's not very deep now!
- There are LOADS more explosions now.
- A progress bar pops up when capturing an enemy / neutral base - this is helpful!
I think that's most of it for now... Keep on egging!
New Map - Outpost
Eggs! It's time for a new map and a few little updates!
Welcome to Outpost
Outpost is a small island in the middle of the ocean. Watch out for high tide!
There is a central base which is essential for keeping control of the island.
On this map the tide will eventually come in making the area for fighting smaller and smaller.
Map Updates!
Hello Eggs!
Just a quick update today as a few of the maps have had updates!
Highlands has had a major face-lift. The boring flat grass sections have had lovely rivers and lakes put in. (Don't fall in!)
A few army bases have popped up!
The big wall surrounding the map has gone finally! Lovely views!
Landings has also had a few changes.
The spawn bases on the beach are now surrounded by sand walls for defence. A large cliff section is now blocking the two Bad Egg Bases at the top of the beach.
Capturing Bases and Controller Update
Hello again!
I've done a quick (but temporary) fix for the capturing bases issue! In this latest update the player will be able to capture neutral (white) bases and turn enemy bases blue.
This is only temporary because the way bases will be captured and defended is being completely overhauled for a future update. Stay tuned for a much better base capturing experience!
This update also has a few controller improvements / bug fixes.
- Changing and selecting a different class now works with an Xbox / Windows controller.
- If the reinforcements are ready then you can respawn instantly by selecting a class from the list.
- A "deadzone" added to the right stick to stop the automatic spinning that occurred when not touching the stick.
I'm still working on getting the menus to all work with a controller but this should mean you have a much better combat experience for the time being.
Enjoy the eggs!
New Map - Landings!
Eggs! Hello!
We've added a brand new map called Landings. This is a beach landing map where the Royal Egg Force start on boats and The Bad Eggs must defend the beaches.
Landings has also been added to a few of the Missions.
Bug Fixes!
We've squashed a few bugs! Mainly ones that occurred when Reverse Mode was turned on.
Fixed:
- On some maps, with Reverse Mode on, The Bad Eggs will have 0 bases.
- With Reverse Mode on and Conquest Mode on (Defending) The Bad Eggs will start with all the neutral bases.
- Timer during Conquest Mode fixed.
Partial Controller Support added!
Good morning!
Today we added partial controller support to Eggs 1942.
We're just testing to see how the game feels using a Windows / Xbox controller. Currently you can only use the controller for combat - menus will still require a mouse and keyboard.
For controller controls see the "How to Play" menu. If you come across any bugs related to the controller input then please let us know!
Update! Egg Classes and New Map!
Hello eggs!
This update contains many things! Mainly Egg Classes and a brand new map.
What are egg classes?
I'm glad you asked!
Each Class has different skills and abilities. There are currently 3 different Classes in Eggs 1942 - I have plans to add more soon.
Scout Egg
The scout egg can move fast and jump high. When moving fast you will take no damage!
Bomber Egg
The bomber egg can self destruct causing damage to nearby eggs. Health does not regenerate!
Heavy Egg
The heavy egg cannot sprint or jump very high but is larger and takes less damage from impact!
The AI and player can both spawn as each of these classes.
What about this new map?
It's called Arena and is an... arena! It has fire, an egg audience, more fire, quite small, flat, some fire, eggs and fire!
Anything else?
Yes! Here's a list of some other new things / fixes.
<*> Getting hit by bombs falling from planes now damages eggs!
<*> Pressing Esc doesn't just instantly quit the battle anymore, it goes to the respawn menu where you can select what class to respawn as.
<*> Pressing Esc in Spectator Mode now works - no more getting stuck as a Spectator!
<*> Heavy Eggs now look quite rough.
<*> Bomber Eggs now look quite shiny.
<*> A settings menu added.
<*> Some extra reading material in the "How to Play" menu.
<*> "R - Respawn" and "Waiting for reinforcements..." text now outlined so you can actually read it on Alps.
<*> "Max Score" and "Time" text in Custom Battle menu is now yellow.
<*> Jump cooldown reduced to 3 seconds instead of 4.
