New passenger evacuation missions have been added: Wealthy passengers will now be requesting expedited evacuation from locations affected by the presence of the Thargoids for additional credits (if you can appease their requirements and demands).
As of this Thursday's maintenance 'tick' (August 3) the Thargoids will retreat from any system when their hold on that system is defeated. Previously this would only occur for Invasion systems.
In honour of the late Michael Brookes, a new organisation has been added to the game, Brookes Galactic Tours. You can now find their adverts in most markets and their new megaship, The Legacy, which can be found in Artemis near Freeholm. Brookes Galactic Tours has also established a new mini-series of tourist beacons to a handful of fantastic locations, the first of this series begins at the beacon at Freeholm. We hope you enjoy exploring and will take a moment to pause and enjoy the wonder that Mike helped bring to the universe of Elite.

16:00 BST – Elite Dangerous 'LIVE/4.0' Servers will return online and Update 16 will be Live and available for you all.

Elite Dangerous 'New Launcher' live today!
Greetings Commanders,
At 11am BST today, we will release a new launcher for Elite Dangerous on PC. This will provide Commanders with easy access to all versions of Elite that they own.
We do not anticipate any major downtime.
The new launcher will be available via Steam shortly, in a prompted, small update to the game once deployment is complete.
If any critical issue technical support is required on first experience of the new launcher deployment, please submit a customer support ticket at the following link.

Changes To Elite Dangerous Default Download
Greetings Commanders.
As of Monday, June 19th Elite Dangerous 'Live' will will be the default download version on Steam.
Legacy will be available as an optional alternative, ready to be installed via selection through the launcher product list.

How will this affect my installation?
I am a non-Odyssey owner with nothing installed: Pressing "Install" on Steam will download the 'Live' version of Elite Dangerous.
I am an Odyssey owner with nothing installed: Pressing "Install" on Steam will download the 'Live' version of Elite Dangerous and Odyssey content.
I own Legacy and have not installed the 'Live' version of Elite Dangerous: Steam will uninstall Legacy as it is no longer the default download and will install the 'Live' version of Elite Dangerous. Legacy will need to be re-installed, if desired.
I am an Odyssey owner with the game already installed: Pressing “Update” on Steam will verify your files, but no changes will occur to the Live version. However the Legacy version will be removed as it is no longer the default and will need to be re-installed, if desired.

Update 15.02 Update Notes

Today sees the release of Update 15.02 for Elite Dangerous Live/4.0, where the team have addressed a number of issues for you, following the release of Update 15.
The Elite Dangerous '4.0/Live' servers are now offline until approximately 11:00AM BST, when they shall return with the update available to you.
From all of us, thank you as always for your continued feedback across the Galaxy of Elite Dangerous.
One of the reasons we're so grateful for your thoughts, is because it allows us as teams across the board to help better your experience in a multitude of ways, one of which being the provision of interim updates in response to 'Quality of Life' improvements in game.
With that in mind, we're happy to announce a forthcoming update for you in the form of 15.02.
