New big content update announced!

On October 28, we release the game EMERGENCY 2017. On the same day, all players of EMERGENCY 5 and EMERGENCY 2016 will receive a new free content update. It is full of improvements and new events for the freeplay and multiplay modes. With the new update, it is not necessary any more to use port forwarding to play a multiplay game. A detailed list of all changes will released on Friday.

General



  • Starting with this patch, only 64-bit operation systems will take advantage of future improvements
  • Various performance and stability improvements. Thanks to all users sending us crash reports and informing our support via https://www.world-of-emergency.com/support about problems found.

Graphics



  • Windows: Replaced the DirectX 9 renderer with a DirectX 11 renderer
  • The available display resolutions are no longer limited to the operation system display resolution in order to support GPU driver supersampling techniques
  • Fixed a rarely triggering bug causing fire lighting staying active after the fire went out
  • Visual polishing

    • Fixed overlay bars and icons being updated one frame too late resulting in a swimming overlays effect
    • The animation for falling trees is now smoother
    • SWAT team members leaving the helicopter via row is now smoother
    • The helicopter door of the rescue helicopter was closing too early resulting in a visible clipping with the paramedic team
    • No longer active contamination clouds now fade out smoothly


Gameplay



  • Fix for hostage taking event being stuck in case the gangsters give up
  • Added support for second speaker voice (command and selection feedback for player units)
  • Fixed a bug that local highscores got lost
  • Fixed traffic light issues inside the Hamburg and Berlin map

Editor



  • Multi-monitor support: With the DirectX 11 renderer, the main window can now be moved to other monitors
  • Added a dialog for local asset datasources which can be found inside the customize menu bar entry
  • Inside the map properties dialog, the create mini-map button now opens a dialog with additional options

Modding / SDK



  • Similar to the building clipping effect, the unit shine through effect can now also be disabled by editing the game configuration file
  • Added more EM5_API_EXPORTs for better accessibility for plugin modders
  • Preview and loading screen support for custom maps (using file naming "em5/gui/asset/map_preview/_preview.dds" and "em5/gui/loading/loadingscreen_.dds")
  • Custom maps can now also be used for multiplayer modes

  • Users of 32-bit and 64-bit operation systems will play on separate servers without the need to change any settings
  • Please note that the used graphics adapter need DirectX 11 support and as a result EMERGENCY 5/2016 will no longer run on systems below the minimum requirements of 1 GB VRAM, NVIDIA GeForce 400 series or AMD Radeon HD 6000 series

  • When playing with a WoE account: Fixed save game problems with the new cloud save game feature which was introduced version 2.0.1
  • Persons following a policeman using a megaphone now stop following when the policeman is entering a car
  • Fixed failing jailbreak event when all gangsters got arrested
  • Fixed instantly failing forest fire events with injured persons
  • Increased rescue dog search radius, rescue dogs sniffing out more casualties works better inside the EMERGENCY 2016 Munich plane crash event with this change
  • Resolved wrong objective to cut open a hidden vehicle in the EMERGENCY 2016 Munich large scale operation "Mass panic at the central station"
  • When repeating the EMERGENCY 2016 Berlin large scale operation "Attack on the aid convoy", it could happen that the gate could no longer be opened by the engineer
  • In case a policeman gets wounded while arresting a prisoner, the prisoner is free again and will try to flee
  • Inside the EMERGENCY 5 Hamburg large scale operation "Flood", rescued persons could end up below a pier

• Input

  • Since version 2.0.1, the tab key also moves the camera to the selected unit. We received feedback from players liking the old behaviour better. So we made the following extension: Using ^ key (the one above tab) for jump to next unit without camera jump now, key N with the same function, while TAB still has the camera jump.

• AI

  • Fixed several reported collision issues inside the Hamburg and Cologne map

• Graphics

  • Fixed black screen at the end of the EMERGENCY 2016 campaign
  • Fixed buried and injured persons standing in T-Pose
  • Fixed a minor path mesh editing issue at the train station inside the Munich map

• Multiplayer

  • Fixed random client freezes
  • Fixed the issue that only the host was able to break open doors of burning houses with a firefighter equipped with an axe

• Stability

  • There was an issue with Unicode symbols inside the user directory or installation directory name
  • Fixed various crashes based on crash dumps we received

• Modding

  • In order to avoid mod version compatibility problems in the future, active mods are automatically disabled when using a new game version. Re-enable them inside the modifications window.
  • Fixed a bug that did not allow modded units to have custom internal names
