End of Days v0.1.5 Released!

End of Days has been updated! It feels like it's been so long. Anyway here's a list of what changed.

Lot's of bug fixes happened too!

SO the very next update is going to be all about the AI and repairable windows. The AI that came with Weapon Master served it's purpose till now, but it's time I write a less performance hungry system. I will be multithreading and creating more interaction with the zombies and spawners. For sure, I will be adding the ability to for zombies to tear down windows and for the players to rebuild them. Once this is in place I will feel comfortable adding a leaderboard system to End of Days. Having the Doors all start shut and zombies able to get into the building from the windows will really solidify the gameplay and End of Days will be less of a tech demo looking thing. Might redo the meshes this update too.

Update Almost Done!

Hey all Starkium here, just wanted to fill you all in with whats going on. First of all, just negate everything I said earlier to expect in this update. The presented method on how to merge the two packages Weapon Master and VR Expansion plugin is not optimal. I will figure out a way at some point and that is either the next update or the one after.

Now that that is out of the way, I have good news still. I've been painfully updating End of Days to the new version of Weapon Master. For the most part I have finished that and I'm doing little tweaks here and there to lighting and trying to squeeze some performance out of whatever I can. The ai is pretty processor intensive because I actually didn't write it. The ai was a basic example that came with Weapon Master, but I'll get back to that in a minute.

So what you can expect in this update:

Interesting News!

So we are getting an interesting gift of information that times pretty well with the updated release of the code package I use. That code package is getting a rough walkthrough of how to merge itself with VR Expansion Plugin by Mordentral ( great dude, look him up) and what that means for us is MORE FEATURES. I was planning to find a way to merge the code base with VRE on my own, but luckily some very intelligent individual has already found a way and is creating a walk through. VRE already has climbing, driving, multiplayer, and many other features already included ( though not optimized ) in the package.

In other words, End of Days is getting more than just a simple update. It's getting a complete overhaul of the systems. I wouldn't expect all of these features in the next update, but you CAN expect the following:

- climbing
- bolt action weapons (SNIPERS, MY FAVE!)
- alternative locomotion options ex: arm swinging

Some things that are to come in the near future, possibly update after this:

- perk sodas ( manually drinkable )
- swinging doors ( you can grab and move them)
- basic multiplayer ( do stuff in the shooting range together, i wanna take time to ensure stability before survival mode is multiplayer )
- virtual keyboards and web browser integration
- better levers, switches, knobs, etc.
- drawers and closets
- better physics objects
- more maps
- drones

Future plans, no estimated timeframe yet:

- full multiplayer ( co-op and vs)
- more weapons
- vehicles
- randomly generated maps ( i have a working prototype, not optimized)
- craftables
- upgrade machine
- zombie kill of the week
- achievements
- workshop support
- cameo weapons / skins
- LOOT BOXES ( just kidding, don't want to do that at all :p )

I have some other floating ideas I may have said before and didn't list here and others I just haven't said at all. I'd like to keep adding to End of Days and really build the IP.

Anyway, thanks for sticking with the project guys. There's lots to come for End of Days. :)

OMG FINALLY! The code base has been Updated!

After a long LONG wait the code base I use has finally been updated! I downloaded it and now I can begin working on updates. I'm extremely happy about this if you couldn't tell :)

Moving right along, as stated in the previous update I'm aware of a lot of bugs and things that need to be taken care for End of Days to play smoother so I'm going to tackle those things as well. Since I'm going to be working on a lot of code related updates first, I probably won't get around to changing the zombie art style till I have the root problems dealt with.

I'm also in the process of updating the Life Art Studios website. I'd like to get more of a community in place as well as show off other projects in the works.

Lastly, I've been streaming pretty much everyday the dev work I've been doing on the other projects. I'll be adding the dev work for End of Days to the line up of what will be on stream, so if you want to come hang out and give some feedback check me out here: https://www.twitch.tv/starkium

Still Here

Hey all, got another update about End of Days. The author of the code base I used to create the game sent his update to Epic games and it is now under review. He has told me that it should be out this week and I can FINALLY get back to work on this project. I haven't been sitting on my hands all this time though. I've been thinking about better ways to improve what is there and learning about how to impliment multiplayer. On top of that I have been working on other exciting projects. I have also read over comments and reviews from online and in person play throughs of the game and it's noted that "minecrafty" is not the desired style. Luckily for you guys I already had plans of changing the character models because I don't want the game to look like Out of Ammo: Overdrive.

Project is not dead!

It has been a while since End of Days has had any updates and I do apologize for that. Updates are still in the works I assure you. I have been stuck between waiting for an update from a blueprint system I use and having too many bugs to record a new trailer. The author of the blueprint system I use has projected that an update for his work will be released within the month. When his system is updated I can freely update End of Days without having to redo anymore of the content that I have already modified. On top of that the author says he will be including the multiplayer elements I have been waiting on so End of Days will be online sooner than anticipated! Don't give up on the game yet, there's more to come :)
