Update Notes for 0.9.5e - Engine Upgrade, and More!

Epocria has been updated from Unity 2019 all the way to Unity 2022. This gives us access to some newer features (which have been used in this update), but could also cause bugs, so if you notice any new bugs please report them!


  • Upgraded from Unity 2019.4.15f1 to Unity 2022.3.11f1
  • UI Button 'hitboxes' have been fixed. This was a long standing bug where the game would think you pressed the wrong button
  • Chunk initialization has been redone. (This could cause some issues so please let me know if any occur). It should optimize some stuff as well as fix some stuff.
  • Ground now uses the Unity tileset, should add a bunch of optimization
  • Wraith can no longer go through objects
  • Spectre can now go through objects
  • Fire Flower added, spawns in deserts. Gives 5+ health as an accessory, stacks up to 3 for +15 health.
  • Cave Crates added, spawn in caves and drop potions! A useful and easy way to avoid crafting them.

Update Notes for 0.9.5d - Dashing, Swords, & More

Although this update is a small version number change (0.9.5c -> 0.9.5d) it has a bunch of features included as well as bug fixes!

Dash Ability
Player dashing has been added to quickly get out of danger. As long as you have an item (or effect) that gives you the dash ability you'll be able to dash.


  • The momentum potion has been made to also give you the ability to dash while active
  • Hermes Cloak has been added. 5% speed boost, however, it gives you the ability to dash while equipped.
  • Hermes Cloak drops rarely from bats (happy grinding!)


Sword Balancing
Swords have been completely rebalanced and sped up! Swords now only hit a creature once each swing leading to stronger swords in the way the game damages the target, so don't be fooled by lower damage amounts, in some cases they may be stronger!

All the balance details are below, please let me know if I ruined the weapons and need to do more balancing! Spears will most likely be next!

  • Wooden Sword Swing Speed 300 -> 270
  • Steel Sword Swing Speed 340 -> 370
  • Steel Sword Damage 11 -> 13

Bugs, Tweaks, Other

  • Lava pits weren't saving properly, this has been fixed
  • Reduced item drops from wraith (pet/tome)
  • Mana flower now can be used as an accessory for +5 max mana (stacks up to 3 for +15 max mana)
  • -20% speed while burning

Update Notes For 0.9.5c

Development on Epocria has been slow as of late, however, development should start to accelerate once again, starting with this update. I have started planning out Release 1.0's features, and the features required to get us there. If you want to stay updated regularly I highly recommend you join the Discord as I post sneak peeks and short blurbs of text quite often.

Watchful Eye
Turret that can be placed. Dropped from defeating The Lich. In a future update it will be craftable into a mobile summon. Unlike the mana turret it doesn't require mana!






Minor

  • Ice Chest no longer drops the Cactus Chest upon breaking
  • Lich Staff requires a bit more mana/does a bit less damage
  • Red tint reduced during nightmare events
  • Entity picking up fixed
  • Block structure placing blocked in the lich zone

Spider Slingers now out!

We just launched another game to Steam go check it out! It's a rage movement platformer where you play as a web slinging spider who needs to swing to the top of a tower.

New game music! That's about it, the old music is gone, the update size is a bit larger now, but not too much bigger. Let me know what you think!

The Biome Update & More! Now Out!

The focus of this update is mainly biomes. However, more than just that has been added, such as a complete rework to the lich boss. Images/gifs below.

Features

  • Complete lich rework
  • Lich staff rework (may be a bit OP right now, probably needs a nerf)
  • Boss health bars added.
  • New Biome: Tundra
  • New Biome: Desert
  • New Biome: Toxic Caves (can generate on any cave level)
  • Cactus & Cactus juice (the quenchiest)
  • Desert winds (appears when in desert)
  • New Creature: Tumbleweed Tumbler, spawns in desert
  • New Creature: Ice Tumbler, spawns in Tundra
  • New Creature: Wisps (spawn in desert/toxic caves/lich underworld)
  • New Creature: Desert Speeder (spawns in desert, can't move, basically a turret)
  • Mini speeder worms, spawn in Desert after the nest has been defeated
  • New Structure: Desert/Ice Chests. Obtainable by finding buried treasure in their respective biomes.
  • Snowy Spruce Trees (Tundra)
  • Bricks smeltable from mud
  • New Structure: Brick Furnace, faster than stone furnace, slower than mana furnace.
  • Occasional snowmen generate in Tundra, also craftable from snow.
  • New Structure: Toxic Stalagmites. They give off toxic gases that can harm the player(spawn in Toxic Caves)

  • Wraith tome buffed
  • Sword in rock texture remade
  • water barrel shadow resized
  • packed snow couldn't be placed (Fixed)
  • decreased cauldron place requirement
  • Pickaxe structure priority should get things on top of floors before floors now.
  • Speeder fang drop rate decreased
  • Life steal for speeder fang/blood bag decreased
  • The Nest health and damage increased.
  • Ore gen increased in lich underworld.
  • Speeder boss movement refined a bit.
  • Blight from Purple shrooms reduced significantly.
  • Exit ladder duplication fixed.
  • Sinkholes are non-reusable again, for some reason they weren't vanishing after a use.
  • Dropped items when breaking a furnace weren't being networked properly. Fixed.

Update Notes for 0.9.4e

I'm working on a boss rework for the lich to make it more exciting and adding some cool biomes to the overworld, but for now here are some cool bug fixes :)

- Crafting tool tip moved to a more convenient spot.
- Mana turret no longer targets invincible targets
- Projectiles have local particles making it easier to defer their hitboxes.
- The lich staff has been redone and fires these fire like particles which will be implemented in the new lich boss coming soon.
