Equin: The Lantern, perhaps Steam's biggest bang for your buck (and for some of you literally a friggin' buck haha), has now ammased enough updates for an official V1.4 tag!!
Thanks for all of your support in making my roguelike a popular and well-received one here up on Steam ːsteamhappyː
Here's what's new:
----------------------------
ADDITIONS
Start New Game and Continue Game are now both separate choices on the main menu. If you decide to start a new game while you have an existing save, it will let you know the old save will be deleted and ask if you really want to go ahead.
Upon starting a new game, your guy will tell you "Don't forget to equip my stuff!"
Secret passages are now in the game! They are rare but out there, and look identical to normal walls. You will be able to walk right through them. If you're equipped with the new Goggles item the secret passages will have green sparklies.
Dimensional Rifts are now in the game! From floors 41+ you will sometimes see these glowing portals. With each step there is a 1% chance for various enemies to come out of them, including champs and possibly even bosses.
20 new items have been added to the game, increasing the total amount of items to 360. They are: Goggles, Dirty Fork, Sling Shot, Vine Crossbow, Weebish Flail, Raincoat, Dunce Cap, Pimp Hat, Orb of Out, Corrosive Mace, Buckler of Boom, Dodge Ball, Gloves of Evasion, War Pick, Oak Barrel, Grab Bag, Metal Detector, Wizard's Spear, Crappy Armor, Bush Disguise.
New sprite for the character when they're wearing the Bush Disguise.
22 new base maps have also been added to the game, 15 of which were designed by ETL player X-Kirby and used with permission. Thank you!
The PRAY skill now has a battle effect for clerics
CHANGES
The main menu has been completely restructured to fit the new 'continue game' option in.
You can now unselect your starting gifts in case you change your mind. You cannot unselect your 3rd or final gift however as it still brings you to the starting bonus screen.
The Reaper / Quiet Floor events can now no longer be on floors 30,40, or 50.
Killer Plants can now no longer spawn any earlier than the 3rd floor.
The Hero (orange tag) gear has been added to a slightly lower tier loot pool.
Max Auto Kill rank has been capped at 4.
Rol's Hat -> Evasion increased to 12%.
Cloak of Evasion -> Evasion increased to 10%.
The True Magic Shield was added to the special shop's possible stock for wizards.
The "X" / close button on the windows header has been disabled to avoid players accidentally erasing their saves. To properly exit while playing, just select "QUIT" from the menu (which still saves your progress for next time).
The Items Found Log has been increased in size to 18 pages to cover the new items.
Title screen date changed to 2017.
FIXES
The Reaper's Scythe now properly grants the +1 Auto Kill ability.
The Thanksgiving Day daily bonus dates were corrected.
Wizards can now equip the True Magic Shield, which was an oversight.
Fixed it where you could warp into the new dead trees and possibly get stuck.
Thanks, and see you next time!

Hotfix & Maps
Hey guys, it's been brought to my attention that there was a very rare issue where sometimes a statue could spawn and block your path so I put some new code in to prevent it from happening JUUUUUST in case.
And also... 20 more base maps for more overall variety.
That's all for today, thanks!

MEGA UPDATE 2017
I should really just relax and enjoy my damn Thanksgiving lol...
ADDITIONS
Three more inventory slots for your backpack. More room is always good!
A purple "SKILL" text now floats above the character upon hitting levels 4 and 7, reminding new players that they've just learned a new combat skill.
New Boss: "Bob", a Shadow Chest death machine. Can rarely appear in place of the Golden Dragon on Floor 40 (see entry on the Boss Guide for further info)
New Boss: "Consruct", a rock golem. Very difficult and hits like a truck. Can sometimes be found stalking the Icebox Floors (see entry on the Boss Guide for further info)
New Set Bonuses for Weebish gear! Equip any 2 pieces of the green flashing text "Weebish" gear to gain immunity to lightning bolts during thunderstorms. If you can manage to equip 3 pieces you'll also gain an extra rank to your Auto Kill, up to a whopping maximum of 4 (!!)
The Weebish Set bonus also changes the character's sprite. It looks cool.
Want new maps? You get 8 new maps! More variety is hoorah!
The Ninja boss now has an uncommon black-suited variant. His stats are exactly the same as the white-suited version, only he also carries the Shadow Garb on him which is very awesome thief armor.
Darkness & Icebox floor events now have their penalties show up on the Special screen.
Graphical improvement: Vines on the shop & guild screens.
New slogans when starting a new game up.
Graphical improvement: The start up screen looks way better now IMO.
CHANGES
Many of the cursor selects in the game now 'wrap around', ex. press left all the way to have it appear on the right side and all that. Pretty handy.
The Plant King boss can now also summon Killer Plants to his side.
Gold display on the Self screen was changed from "GD" to "GOLD". Also the amount of gold is now displayed in golden text instead of black.
FIXES
If the character is injured while invisible he is no longer stuck in mid flash anymore. Hoorah!
Gaining multiple levels in a row from a large source of XP now spaces them out, allowing you to see individual HP and STM gains.
Tome (Mage) now correctly displays the STM reduction cost for spells on the Special screen.
There's this one friggin' pixel that gets recolored during the battle pop up screen for like 5 years... I finally fixed it lol.
Equin's Axe now has the full item description if it appears in a Shop / Cultist.

And that's about it.
Adding to the game and making it better sure is fun. ːsteamhappyː
Thanksgiving Update #2
Some small QoL things and a new boss today!
ADDITIONS
New Boss: Plant King! Remember how almost nobody likes Killer Plants? This is their leader, who may appear (rarely) in place of the Hell Hound on the 30th floor. You'll hate him! So grab your DDT and Pest Scrolls and head on down!
The main menu is now 2 pages instead of 1. To access the Graveyard Folder option and the other things just select "Other Stuff".
One of the new menu options is "Official Guides", which takes you to my Equin page for the 3 guide I've made for this. While I was watching somebody play this on Twitch the other day he was saying how he didn't really know how to play or what anything did so I thought this would be a good idea for others like that.
CHANGES
I've done away with the Volume and Screen size options from the drop down menu at the top of the windows border. It just looked tacky as shit. It's been replaced with much better in-game Volume and Screen options, which are located on the new page 2 of the main menu. Just like a real game, wow!
FIXES
None!
----
Well as you can probably tell I've figured out a cool way to add new bosses to the game, what with the Fuzzy Chicken the other day and the Plant King tonight. I can almost guarantee you'll be getting another 3 or 4 down the road at this rate. ːsteamhappyː
New Thanksgiving Update!
And it's a friggin' doozy ːsteamhappyː
ADDITIONS
Minor elemental effects SINGE, CHILL, and SPARK were added to some weapons. These act like mini versions of the Wizard spells FLAMES, ICE, and ZAP. Now classes other than Wizards can have access to these never-missing magics.
New Obstacle: Locked Doors. From floors 15+ you may encounter a door with a huge lock on it. Any class can attempt to pick the lock, with Thieves being the best at it and Clerics the worst. If you are unsuccessful don't worry it's not like chests and there's no trap damage. Locked doors are there to slow you down, as each lockpick failure advances a turn and therefore monsters may close in on you faster.
New boss monster, the Fuzzy Chicken! Little and cute, this guy rarely shows up on floor 10 in place of the Troll. Unlike the Troll he has many magical attacks and worth much more XP if defeated. I've also updated the Steam Boss Guide with this guy's stats and etc.
New enemy battle option: ROAR. This mighty roar increases enemy attack power by 50% (can only be used once per battle). Some enemies and several bosses now have this.
Enemies now have their own little buff / debuff icons in battle. These appear on the right side of the screen beneath their HUD display and are pretty helpful.
Dead trees will now start to appear from floors 35+
More daily bonuses added, including Thanksgiving Day.
Many new stats and etc appear on the "Special" screen now, including the exact XP bonus provided by having a full Hit Streak gauge.
The more money you have, the higher odds a shop will appear on the next floor now. The big thresholds to watch for are $2000, $5000, and $10000. Otherwise the shop spawn rate remains unchanged.
CHANGES
Max enemy spawn count was slightly reduced (from map size / 20 to map size / 25). Though Equin The Lantern has tons of combat in it, I wanted to streamline it a bit more like the Auto Kill feature did before. To balance things out, all enemies are worth +50% more XP now. Each fight counts more.
Campfire Sets can now be set up in more places than they used to. So aside from a clean dirt spot you can set them up on top of empty barrels, chests, pots and patches of grass to name a few. Thanks ErikaUnlimited for the idea to do this!
Spazz Weed pots now have improved graphics. Those always bugged me!
Using an Unlocking Scroll will now open any locked doors as well as trapped chests.
Using a Pest Scroll will now kill any trees and change them into the new Dead Tree sprites.
The Warrior's Glove now has a +1% critical hit chance to it.
Changed Tip #70 to- "Many items and weapons can be used while still in your backpack. Experiment!" And it's true. Everyone should be doing this a little haha..
FIXES
None this time.

Everybody have a safe and happy holiday season!

Just saw this today, this was really pretty entertaining. And unlike the folks who come out of the woodwork looking for freebies this guy sprung for the couple bucks too hahaha....

If anybody knows this guy tell him I said thanks this was a cool surprise.
Share your experiences!
Let's hear you, commandeers of rabbit folk!

Daily Specials Update & Etc!
Oh man, here's a good one!
Additions
The game now has built-in daily specials that grant bonus items and effects during certain special days. Each of these can be used throughout the day for as many new games as you started. Starting with this weekend for example all characters gain an extra starting gift. Every 9th of the month is the Thief's Special. There are many more waiting to be discovered, the only way to find them is to play!
New enemies: Battle Druid and Phase Druid. These are less common enemies and can be found from about the 9th floor or so onward. Armed with an assortment of spells and able to shield bash, these should be a lot of fun haha. The Phase Druid appears ghostly and has a high evasion rate to boot.
Xtoli visitors will now apear at your graveside when you die. Depending on how many points you've earned you can get a great deal of them to show up and pay their respects.
The only change that you'll notice is that now there's a little green "Eq" next to your equipped gear row on the backpack screen. This replaces the little blue triangle of old.
Fixes
Leaned how to spell "SCREEN" correctly haha....
That's all for today. The special daily bonuses will be able to sort of automatically take over many of the updates I usually do, and make many days out there special for somebody.
