Dev update: One year of Escape Simulator!
Happy birthday to us! π₯³
Wow! Has it really been this long? Where does the time go? We can hardly believe it ourselves, but it's definitely true. As of today, Escape Simulator has officially been out for an entire year already! And what a year it has been for all of us at Pine Studio!
To celebrate the first anniversary of Escape Simulator, we're looking back at everything that has been achieved so far, while also giving you a sneak peek of what's yet to come. Join us for another dev update and feel free tell us your favorite memory of the game so far in the comment section down below! If you do so, and give this a announcement a like, you might win a key for our upcoming DLC (once it's out) !
The journey so far...
When Escape Simulator first released one year ago, the base game featured 15 rooms spread out across three different themes. So far, that number has been increased to 23 and we still have more free rooms planned! Five of these were part of the Omega Corporation update and of course we also added three extra rooms: Santa's Workshop, Cats In Time and the recently released 70's Room. Additionally, we released the Steampunk DLC back in June and we just announced a second DLC as well! More on that in a bit! π
Of course, Escape Simulator also owes a lot to its incredible community! That's why we want to give a massive shoutout to all of the builders who keep surprising both us and all other puzzle fans with awesome content. So far, there are already over 3000 published rooms to check out on the Steam Workshop! We also loved to see all of the excellent entries we received during the three different builder competitions that took place so far.
Of course our room editor has also gone through a lot of changes since the initial release. A whole bunch of new features have been added, with the Room Editor 2.0 update being our biggest update to the editor so far. As you might recall, that update featured the addition of new lighting options, scripting with LUA, a model importer and many more quality of life tweaks.
Finally, we are happy to say that Escape Simulator is now playable in a grand total of twelve languages, eleven of which have been added post-launch! We have also added gamepad support, so you can play the game however you want. We were astounded to the see game reach over ONE MILLION players and we hope you'll stick with us for even more escape fun! Now, are you ready for a sneak peek on the future of the game? π
...and what lies beyond! π
So if you've been keeping an eye on this channel, you might already know that a second DLC is coming to Escape Simulator! Last week, we announced the Wild West DLC which is set to release in December! If you haven't already, be sure to wishlist it to receive a notification as soon as it's available!
Can't wait that long? No worries, we've got you covered! In order to celebrate the π» SPOOKY SEASON π», we are adding a free Halloween room to the game next week! This update also comes with an additional outfit and a new music track to match the eerie vibes. We still have at least two more free rooms in development, so please continue to look forward to those as well!
Thanks again for all of the support you provided over the past twelve months! We couldn't have done it without all of you!

Build-A-Thon '22 has been officially wrapped up! We just announced the three winning rooms during our livestream. In case you missed the event, you can still check out the recorded version right here. Now without further ado, here are our three lucky winners!
Congratulations from all of us at Pine Studio! We were all greatly impressed by the amount of variety between all of the rooms that got published. It was really fun to see how each room builder used their own interpretation of the 'Lost Artifact' theme within a tiny room of only 1x1. All three winners will receive a Mystery Pine Box, the contents of which will still remain a secret for now. π

PS. We didn't forget about the "special announcement," but we need a few more days to prepare it.
PS2. We'll update this post with the recording of the stream soon.

Our top community room picks for September!
Wrapping up September
September has been another great month for Escape Simulator! In case you missed it, we released our brand new 70's room. This room is part of a free update that also includes several new features and tweaks to the room editor. You can read all about this new update right here!
Additionally, a Build-A-Thon took place during which the room builders from our community had to make a tiny 'Lost Artifact' room within only 48 hours. Last week we announced our ten nominees right here and you can still vote for your favorite rooms until October 5, 6PM CEST. Voting can be done via the Google Form found here. The three winners will be announced during our livestream on Twitch, YouTube and here on Steam. Be sure to tune in, because we will also be sharing a special announcement! π
Finally, September also saw the release of many great new community rooms! So without further ado, these were some of our favorites!
Very underground
The Subway Heist is yet another great room by GetOffMyBeard known for The Space Escape. In The Subway Heist, you're playing as someone named Mickey who's part of a big heist. Your task is to ensure a safe getaway through the subway. Will you be able to make your escape?
Check for prints!
In Paperback Predicament by Brengo, you're finishing some simple assignments for your boss at a printing workshop. Sounds like this should be an easy enough task, right? However, not everything might be as it seems. Go try it out to find out what's really going on here!
An aquatic escape
Under The Sea is another beautifully atmospheric room by Duc. As the title of this room implies, it takes place in the deep, murky depths of the sea. Be sure to have a good look around, because you'll spot plenty of aquatic flora and fauna here!
A devilish sequel!
If there's one room we've been looking forward to for quite some time now, it has to be The Devilish Diorama 2 by Zesty Mordant. It's a full-blown sequel to one of our all-time favorite rooms and features some excellent voice acting by Twitch streamer Murkked. Once again, this room is filled to the brim with dioramas that will directly affect your surroundings. Be sure to check out this devilishly tricky room!
It's a wrap!
And that's it for our monthly picks of September! We would once again like to thank all of the dedicated builders from our community for all of your creativity and hard work. If you haven't already, be sure to join us over on Discord and Reddit to talk about all things Escape Simulator. We hope to see you all during the Build-A-Thon livestream!

Build-A-Thon '22 Update: And the nominees are...
Drum roll please! π₯
On the 17th and 18th of September, we asked the room builders from our community to build a tiny room within 48 hours. This means they were only allowed to use one single space on the grid of the in-game room editor. The theme they had to work with? Lost Artifact!
A grand total of twenty room builders participated in this Build-A-Thon. Out of the twenty rooms that got submitted, we have selected ten of our personal favorites for you to vote on. Please note that the following nominees are in random order. So without further ado, here are our ten nominees!
Congratulations to everyone who got nominated! There were a lot of really great entries, so the selection process definitely wasn't easy. We want to thank everyone who took the time to participate in this event. You all did an excellent job!
But wait, now what?
Now that we have ten nominees, it's up to all of you to select three winners! In order to vote for your favorites, we would like to ask all of you to rank each room via the Google Form found right here. The top three builders will win our illusive Mystery Pine Box. Voting ends on October 5 at 6PM CEST, so don't wait too long! We will officially announce the three winners during a livestream on October 6, so we hope to see you there!
