Escape This: Neon News!

Hey all hows it going? I am sorry that the game has seemed dead i have been very busy and have only recently had time made available to me. With in the next 1-2 days "Escape This: Neon" will fully replace "Escape This"

There are still many things i need to work on with Neon but it is at a stage where im happy for it to replace the old engine of Escape This.

For those who are new and do not know what Escape This:Neon is. Here is a quick overview...

Escape This has been completely rebuilt from scratch. New custom collision system, Map Editor / Loader. New block types and multi camera view.

Thank you all for being so patient and i hope you all enjoy the update when its released.

Update coming soon!

I am planning to release my next update for Escape This: Neon some time before the end of this month. Im still considering to release it in the main game branch or still leave it in its current beta branch.

What the update will bring:

1) Ability to re-load maps in the editor.

2) Map description. With each map you are able to enter a description that will be shown in the UI of the game. This is good for credits or small amounts of info.

2) New blocks.

3) Adjusted player controls.

New Beta Branch Is Live!

Hey all the new beta branch for Escape This: Neon is live.

To access the build of the game the code is 'escapethis12345'

How to gain access to the build:

Step 1: Make sure the old install of the game is removed. Or that you have removed the Maps folder.
Step 2: Right click on the game and go to properties.
Step 3: Click on the Betas tab and then enter 'escapethis12345' in the textfield.
Step 4: Click the 'Check Code' button and then select the new beta build from the drop down. After doing all of that and selecting the build in the drop down the new beta build of Escape This should start downloading.
Please note that none of the old maps will work for the beta build.

I will be adding on screen hints to help you with controls and what not but for now i will explain what does what.

Movement:

W,A,S,D Keys will move your player.
Arrow Keys will rotate the camera and controls.

Making your own maps:

Your map needs atleast 3 things in order for it to be playable.

The first thing you need is a ground for the player to stand on. Second you will need the player its self and third you will need your exit point. Its all pretty self explained at this point but in the final product i will be adding tutorials to the game and what not.

If you would like to share your maps you may upload the text/map file to our forums.
Forum

Gameplay:

Currently there are 2 event blocks. Event blocks are blocks on the map that fire off an action. The two current event blocks are...
Death Block(Kills you on contact)
Inverted Gravity Block(This is pretty much like a ladder holding a direction key well up next to this block will move you up)

This is a very early build of the beta branch so i do expect alot of errors. However i want you guys to see the progress i make. I will try to update the branch 1-2 times a week.

Thanks.

Escape This Rework!!!

Hey all so after i have read a recent review i have decided that the game that i thought was ok to leave is definitely not ok haha. Reading this review has opened my eyes and i have started on a FULL rework of the game. What does this mean it means i am re creating the game from the ground up.

Features currently in the new version:

1) Custom Collision Engine(I am no longer using Unity3D's default Box collision/Rigidbody as these made the player get stuck on some points of the map. I have now created my own Collision/Physics engine specifically for the game.).

2) Maps now load in alphabetical order and not any old random order.

3) New custom map builder. Thats right i have re created the way map loading works which means i could now implement the new 3D Map builder that so many people have wanted for so long.

4) MASSIVE UI changes.

Features yet to be added:

1) Community map uploads. I am yet to decide if i am going to use my own website to host map uploads or if i am going to continue using the workshop for the game.

2) Possible controller support(This is currently on my list of maybes depending on how many people want this feature i may add it before the release of the new version)

3) More music currently being made.

4) Possible multiplayer(This is also on my maybes list how ever it is right down the bottom since multiplayer will be the very last thing i work on)

5) Currently the only blocks in the game are. Player cube, Default cube, Wall cube and the Death cubes. I am still working on all the other different blocks. Spinners, Spikes etc etc.

More Info:

I will be releasing a beta build for the game so you guys may keep up to date with all the new features i implement to the new game over time. At the moment the game is playable including the map builder how ever there are only 4 blocks. When i add my newest block which is called 'Bounce cube' i will release the new beta build and i will announce here what the password is to access this build.

LAST Major Escape This Gameplay Update!

We have finally released our final update for Escape This.
The update has removed all old maps and if any old maps are still in your game folder and you attempt to load them it's safe to assume they wont load as intended. But with the removal of all old maps we have add 21 maps out of the intended 50 maps. We are still working on the Hard and Extremely Hard maps.
We have also changed the camera and the key to change its view. The key is now 'C'. We have also made the game harder again by giving the player 100 health. We feel the game needs to be a challenge so we lowed the player health from 350.

Patch Notes:
Added: New maps.
Changed: Camera(Now activate switch with the 'C' key)
Changed: Player Health.
Removed: Old maps.

This will be the last major game play update we do for the game how ever we will still fix bugs and finish off the other maps.

We hope you all enjoy our new multi-layer maps.

Large change coming soon!

Hello all. In about 1 - 2 weeks from now we will be releasing our largest update for "Escape This" yet.

This update has changed the game to make it challenging for everyone.

What we will be releasing in our next update:
We have completely re-built our Map Loading system. Our system now allows us to create multi-layered maps. How ever by doing this all maps that where in the game before will no longer function correctly and because of this the Four Winged Studio team has been working around the clock to get a whole new set of maps out. We will be removing all the old maps but adding at least 40-50 new maps in return.

What we are working on:
All the features that we are working on that are listed below may not be ready for our large update how ever we feel like we should tell the community anyway.

We are working on a Stage/Level system each map will be categorized in their own difficulty. The way the game will work once this system is completed is: when you complete 6 easy maps you will go to the medium maps and when you complete 6 medium maps you will get a set of hard maps and so on.

Once we have finished our new stage/level system we will also be adding new achievements into our game. From the beginning we where never happy with 5 (That is just to easy :P) so we hope to add at least 10 more achievements at the end of all our major updating.

Game Update #6

In this update we have just made some fix's to some known issues.
The first issue we fixed are our broken steam achievements which became broken last update. The next issue we fixed was our impossible map called Spinners.

Patch Notes:

Fixed: Broken Steam achievements.
Fixed: Impossible map "Spinners"

Game Update #5

In this update we have fixed the camera being in the wrong position and we have also made the camera more responsive. We have also made the player 50% transparent so you can see the hazards on the other side of you.
We have removed the camera rotate well we work on a new and better one. You are now able to move the player with both WASD and Arrow keys.

Patch Notes:

Fixed: Camera.
Fixed: Player being able to move before the load screen ends.
Added: Arrow key support.
Adjusted: Player health to 450.

We now support Mac!

We have just released our new supported Mac build for "Escape This".

Our new trailer for our game will be available soon!
