ESCAPEWORLD DILEMMA NOW FREE TO PLAY

It has been over 2 years since I released Escapeworld Dilemma. In that time, many have enjoyed the game with positive reviews, and many have discovered that a game developed by a single person will not be AAA quality, but will be a little rough around the edges. Even though I invested about 4,000 or so hours in developing and supporting the game, that is certainly the case.

So to the many who have purchased the game, thank you for your support. Having done no marketing for the game, it was by no means a financial success. To those that bought the game and have found rough edges, my apologies.

In the end, I'd like anybody that wants to play the game to be able to, so I made the decision to make the game free to play.

I will continue to monitor the community board and try to fix any issues that might come up, and provide hints if needed.

I hope any new players enjoy the game!

ESCAPEWORLD DILEMMA TO TRANSITION TO "FREE TO PLAY" MARCH 20TH

That will happen sometime around mid-March (2023). A warning has been put on the store page to tell folks to wait until then if they want to wait and play the game for free.

I will continue to monitor the community board and try to fix any issues that might come up, and provide hints if needed.

Minor Update

Fixed level streaming bug that intermittently caused walls and objects to stream in improperly or not stream in at all.

Also put workaround to replace the red cube at Inport front door on the pressure plate so player does not get trapped if the cube accidentally falls off the pressure plate. Hit 9, then 8, then the letter i in sequence and the cube will be placed on the plate..

Small Update


  • Modifications to Riddle Island gate puzzles to prevent inadvertent trapping of player behind force field (per “Buttercup” in community discussions)

  • Additional hint notes on Riddle and Grid Islands.

  • Exposed 6 hidden puzzles (per Stasnia in community discussions). While in game (not in Menu Room), if you hit Y then U, you will be teleported to a normally hidden platform that was a bit of a workshop for puzzle development (it was hidden in the game until Stasnia found it). There are 6 puzzles that are fully functional. They did not make it into the game, though the first 2 could have but were deemed potentially too hard. The last three are simply too complicated/hard pattern series puzzles and thus did not make it into the game. There are hints using the H and N keys. To get back to Inport, hit Y then M. There is no save function for these puzzles, however.

  • Added barrier above fence in West to prevent inadvertent cube drop behind fence
  • Reactivated arrows for navigation (use either WASD or Arrows)
  • Optimized teleport clouds to be less demanding of performance
  • Additional hints
  • Minor update to options panel
