[Developer Notes] Happy 1st Anniversary!

Hello, dreamers!

Today marks 1 year since the release of Eternal Dreamers! I would like to thank all players of the game for having a good time and their constant support, be it through encouragement or feedback! The game has steadily been growing since release at a pace my indie dev self can manage, so I thank everyone for their patience waiting for new updates!

Speaking of updates, where will the game be going from here? I've been hard at work at a large-scale update worthy of the anniversary, which is currently in its final development stages. Here is a preview of some of the things you can expect, subject to change throughout development:

New Sytem:


Advent Supplies


Allows players to summon characters, memoria and auxiliary items using a new currency called Dreamstones. This currency can be obtained both ingame and through microtransactions. To ensure nobody has to use the latter, the game will grant currency just for playing!

It has long been my wish to make all characters obtainable for those that love playing the game, but just cannot afford to spend on it. The option to support the game will remain, but I hope this will let everyone enjoy these wonderful characters all the same!

On release, this system will replace all character-specific DLC. Pre-existing owners get to keep theirs of course!



New Equipment:


Memoria


A new equipment type obtained via Advent Supplies when repeatedly summoning the same character. Memoria reflect the essence of the character they represent, such as Reiketsu's boosting a character's evasion!


  • Each character has their own Memoria with unique minor stat bonuses, however, these Memoria can be equipped by any one character
  • Memoria can be amplified up to 5 or 10 times respectively by using 1x Memoria Dust per amplification
    -1x or 2x Memoria Dust can be obtained by recycling a Memoria depending on its rarity



Class Rework


The vast amount of weapon types in the game has been received negatively by players that found no use for those they lacked characters for. This rework will do away with this negative by streamlining weapon types and reducing the total amount to 3 weapon types. This change will ensure that a newly obtained weapon can be used in a majority of cases.


  • New weapon types will replace the old: MELEE, RANGED, TECH
  • Weapons obtained prior to this update will remain with the player and their previous weapon type, being usable only on their respective character

From a development point of view, this rework will make it easier to introduce new characters with distinct playstyles and personalities, and on player side increase the amount of possible rare equipment and character combinations! I wonder (and fear) what kind of broken combos will be discovered!

New Character:


Shana


A trained Advent soldier with a deadpan attitude towards her work, Shana specialices in high damage output and speed. Shana will be making use of the RANGED weapon category.

Today's update makes further improvements to the battle HUD! Tracking status effects on enemies should be a whole lot easier now!

  • Status effects applied to enemies now are displayed all at once
  • Icons of status effects applied to boss-type enemies will display their turns on the boss HP bar

  • Updated background graphics and weather effects of the Beach combat area

  • Socket pieces now reflect their rarity in appropriate text color on the equip screen
  • Improved the way socket pieces are displayed on the item detail window on the equip screen
  • Improved the way the unequip option is displayed on the equip screen
  • Improved the way currency is displayed on the menu screen and in shops

Bug Fixes



  • Fixed bug that had enemies wait abornomally long to return to their position after attacking while afflicted by Poisoned
  • Fixed visual bug that had currency other than energy display at abnormally small sizes in shops
  • Fixed visual bug that had the item category window disappear when selecting an item to sell

Update (May 1st)

Hello, dreamers!

Today's update makes some improvements to the battle HUD, the Daily Pull finally tells you what you actually pulled and ShirA.I. gets some buffs! Her next report ought to be a hard hitter!

Battle System



  • Current battle actions now show a background indicating whether the user is party member or enemy
  • Made defeat and escaping smoother: removed text window that required enter to be pressed and added a teleport animation
  • All enemies now have HP bars of the same length
  • The party meter now also displays the maximum amount of meter possible

Areas



  • Slightly improved visuals of the Spirit Hunt select screen

Characters



ShirA.I.

  • Abilities now deal increased DMG based on ShirA.I.'s level
  • Increased base SPD from 8 -> 9
  • Reworded passive ability to be more informative

System



  • The Daily Pull now displays the name of the last reward item that was received within a running pull session
  • Added animation to the teleporter leading to the quest select screen

Bug Fixes



  • Fixed bug that caused ShirA.I. to be revived without either of her passive states active
