Ranked Matches: Temporary Restrictions due to Abnormal Gameplay
Clear cases of abnormal gameplay—such as intentionally leaving a match, entering restricted areas to get killed, or feeding—result in immediate restrictions when sufficient evidence is present. However, the line between intentional and unintentional behavior remains challenging. For example, we often receive reports about players engaging in fights they are unlikely to win, which can simply reflect differences in playstyle or judgment; even professional players occasionally make tactical mistakes.
The main concern arises when players exploit this gray area to engage in behaviors that go against Ranked objectives. These players often accumulate a significant number of reports. However, relying solely on report accumulation for restrictions is problematic, as it can be misused.
To address this, we are introducing a new system for temporary restrictions in Ranked Matches:
- Players who accumulate a certain number of reports will face a temporary restriction of up to 3 days and become a high-priority investigation target.
- This restriction will apply only to ranked matches; other game modes will remain accessible.
- If the investigation finds the reports to be unjustified, the restriction will be lifted immediately. However, if serious traces are uncovered, additional action may be taken.
- This new policy is intended to prioritize investigations, not to single out individual players. And as mentioned, clearly abnormal behavior will continue to result in immediate restrictions without requiring multiple reports.
- This temporary restriction measure is designed to reduce hard-to-assess cases of trolling and intentional griefing. For more severe instances of abnormal gameplay, strict penalties will apply across all game modes.
- Since this policy was already added to the Rules of Conduct on July 11, 2024, we plan to roll out a trial implementation immediately. However, because the system isn’t fully developed yet, we’ll continue refining it during the trial. This includes adding more weight to reports from players who rarely report and excluding reports from players who submit false reports.
While the Ranked system in Eternal Return isn’t perfect, we’re committed to improving matchmaking to create a better experience for everyone. Defining standards for unacceptable behavior can be challenging, but we’re continually working on effective solutions.
Rank Demotion & Grace Point Changes
The purpose of Grace Points and Rank Demotion is to maintain a fair competitive environment in the game.
Currently, players in the Diamond tier and above can hold up to 15 Grace Points to avoid Rank Demotion due to inactivity. Recently, however, we’ve received a lot of feedback expressing that remaining undemoted for an entire patch cycle (15 days) seems excessive.
Additionally, since Diamond tier now allows premade teams, it's a bit harder to determine whether this tier should also have Rank Demotion for inactivity.
After considering your feedback, we are looking into potential changes. While consistency in the rules for Rank Demotion and Grace Points is ideal, we’re prioritizing your input and would love to hear your thoughts on the following options:
1. Remove Rank Demotion for inactivity and Grace Points from Diamond tier
2. Adjust maximum Grace Points for Meteorite tier and higher 15 → 12

Event Notes
* You will receive the Drops once you fulfill the reward conditions.
* You must claim the 1 hour reward in your Twitch inventory before receiving the next 1 hour reward.
* Drops obtained during this event will remain in your Twitch inventory until 14:59 on the day you grabbed them. After claiming them from your Twitch inventory, you can redeem them in-game (Store -> Twitch Drops). Drops remain in your in-game store for 7 days before expiring.
*To receive Drop rewards, you need to connect your Twitch account (https://twitch.playeternalreturn.com/).
*The cumulative watch time is updated daily at 14:59 (UTC).
*Using Drops in an unprofessional manner or by breaking the rules of the streaming platform will come with a warning. Streamers that continue to break the rules after the warning will be sanctioned accordingly.

Permanent Ban for Using Illegal Programs
We have recently strengthened our illegal program detection function through several updates, and with these improvements, we have been continuously tracking down accounts that use illegal programs. This has proven effective, and we have detected around 49 instances of illegal program use, all of which will result in permanent bans without exception
Reports of illegal program use—whether from customer inquiries, community feedback, or from monitoring streams—are given top priority. However, technical detection and verification are crucial in addressing this type of intances, as reports often only capture a portion of actual users. For example, most of those sanctioned in this round had never been reported.
Additionally, our efforts to combat illegal programs are an ongoing battle, as new versions can surface even after a program is detected.
To strengthen our monitoring, we've recently established an anti-hack team and are actively developing additional detection methods to further bolster our capabilities.
We'll continue doing everything possible to ensure a fair and clean gaming environment in Eternal Return.
Since using illegal programs leads to permanent bans, we encourage players to steer clear of them—even if you’re just curious!
Aside from our measures against the use of illegal programs, we are also intensifying our response to abnormal gameplay and stream sniping.
Although there is still much room for improvement, we are increasing our staff and expanding our response measures.
We hope to share further details on this matter in another setting, perhaps during a Dev Stream.
We are fully aware of the harm abnormal gameplay does to fair gaming, so we are committed to doing everything within our reach, and even going a bit beyond, to resolve it.
