Unfortunately due to the lack of enough entries, we will be putting our tournament on hold and postponing it to a later date.

Quickfix: Graphic Display Issue

Greeting Warriors!

A few of our warriors have reported an issue where the headset would not display the player's view correctly giving a cross eyed effect.

We have detected that this bug comes from when the user turns on FXAA in their graphics settings. So for all users we have disabled the FXAA setting. We have also decided to close the GFX settings menu for the time being, until we do further testing as more of these issues might pop up.

This should also solve "Game cannot play because of the GFX setting" message too.

As per usual if you discover bugs please let us know!

We hope that you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year! It's been a while since we had an update but this is a big one! So let's not dilly-dally, TO THE PATCH NOTES!!:

- Survival Mode has been added and it supports multiplayer too! Teleport between several spots within the map and face massive hordes of daemons! How long can you survive? Note: This is a preview version of the mode so some features have not been implemented yet.
- The launch scene (The Hall) has been enhanced. Players can now teleport between three areas, each with their own functions. You'll notice that some areas are a bit empty, more stuff will be added in future updates.
- Improved the process of weapon selection in Arcade Mode. The new design is pretty close to the future full version.
- Weapon selection interface in Challenge Mode has also been partially evolved to the future full version.
- With both above changes completed, left-handed users can now switch weapons for both hands directly when they choose their weapons. Therefore we have removed the dominant hand toggle in the options menu. For those players whom this affects please continue to give us your feedback.
- Fixed a few bugs that the gamers found and reported on our discussion board. We welcome you guys to give more feedback of our game!

Happy 2018! The first EWVR tournament is here!

Are you ready to see who the greatest Eternity Warriors are?





When: Tournament will begin Jan 22 until Jan 26, with the Finals being livestreamed on Saturday Jan 27.

Rules: Teams of 2 must compete for the highest score possible to see who are the ultimate Eternity Warriors!

During the tournament time each team must record their playthrough and post them on YouTube (if you can stream it that's a plus). The 3 teams with highest scores by Jan 26 will then compete in the finals where they will once again compete for the highest score under a live setting.

Prize: The members of winning team will have their names immortalized in Eternity Warrior VR with a special trophy in the game.

    Greetings Warriors! And the updates keep rolling in and the game keeps getting better thanks to you and the feedback from our awesome community!
    So... what's inside? TO THE PATCH NOTES!!:

    - We've added German and Russian localization.
    - Hunters! You've unlocked a new skill! Press in the Vive trackpad or push up on the Oculus analog stick to unleash an AOE attack, this should help up when you are surrounded!


    - Hunter's homing arrows fly noticeably faster.
    - Enemy health bars and damage point are now visible! These will become more important when user, gear and skill progression is added in the future.
    Note: This is on by default but can be switched off in the options menu in-game.


    - Added graphics setting, so now you can squeeze your PC full potential!


    - Optimized the weapon angles for Oculus controllers. Now they look more natural in-game.

    v0.2.0 Updated - Easy mode, Hard mode, Oculus and the FUTURE!

    Greetings Warriors! It’s been awhile since our last update but we’ve been hard at work! In this update we have added many things you have been asking for, as well as setting up the foundation for some cool content to come (which we’ll also tease here). We hope you enjoy what we’ve been working on and look forward to what’s to come. Enough rambling… TO THE PATCH NOTES!:


    • Added two new difficulty missions for each character: Rookie and Hell. New leaderboards have been added to the Hell difficulty.
    • Improved the level design of the default mission for the Gunner.
    • Chinese VO completed.
    • The in-game text is now Japanese-ready. Arigato @Rikurus for all your help!
    • Optimizations for Oculus users:

      1. Changed weapon switch in co-op mode - now press A and X at the same time. No more switching weapons accidentally using the grip buttons.
      2. Easily turn using the analog sticks: Turn 30 degrees by pushing the analog sticks left or right, and turn 180 degree by pushing the analog sticks down.
      3. Shields for the Gunner and arrow switching for the Hunter are activated by pushing the analog sticks up.

    • Added subtitles for the voice overs. This can be turned off in the settings.
    • At the main menu players can directly interact with items using the finger point laser instead of touching them with controllers. This helps players who have limited space.
    • We changed the art design of the Warrior's shield - this is to remove any imagery looking similar to certain religious marks. We do not want to cause any misunderstanding.
    • Fixed a leaderboard bug.


    So that’s it for all the new stuff in the game, but how about what’s coming in the future! Knowing that the development of new environments, new enemies and new weapons will taking longer time than the regular updates and fixes, we have split our small dev team into two teams. These two teams will work in parallel to each other and together they will be working on the following future updates:

    • Weapon customization - you will be able to choose which weapons to equip in your left and right hands.
    • Player Progression and Collectables.
    • Customization of your Avatar for co-op mode.
    • And new environments, weapon and enemies which are expected to appear in the next 2 to 3 updates!


    Phew! And that’s it …. for now! Again, we hope you enjoy the new update and are excited for what’s to come! Because we are only getting started!

    AMA - The Answers!

    On September 30 we ran an AMA on the /virtualreality subreddit. We got some really interesting questions, which made for some really interesting answers. So we've decided to repost all the Q&As here for you to read.

    Those of us who were answering questions were:
    Kun Wang, Vanimals Studio Head - In charge of company operations and product marketing.

    Yue Zhang, Producer - In charge of entire game production involving Eternity Warriors™ VR.

    Zhong Yuan, Tech Director - In charge of game engineering and tech related works (platform and server).

    Jin Chan Yum Wai, Community Manager - Working on the social media channels like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

    On with the questions!

    llViP3rll asks: Great game! Any plans to add pvp? :D
    Yue - Currently there are no immediate plans for PVP, however we will be adding a "friendly fire" mode to the game so you will be able to hurt your allies in the near future. That way you have to be extra careful while helping each other, or if you are feeling evil you could just kill your friend. :P
    We will be using this feature to test player-on-player combat which can hopefully evolve into a complete PVP mode.


    Clover12121 asks: hi, I haven't played your game yet, but I've read about special abilities and the absence of a tutorial on them, are there any plans to add this in the future?
    Jin - Short answer: Yes.
    Currently the game does teach you about the character skills and abilities but they seem to be a little unclear to most players. So we will be improving the clarity of these abilities in future updates, and later adding proper tutorials of each hero class. Those tutorials will be in sometime before the full launch of the game.
    For the meantime though we will be posting guides of each Hero class on our Steam page.


    Jewels_the_Psychotic asks: Love the game! The art design in Eternity Warriors VR is top notch! What challenges did you encounter when making a game that looks this stunning for Virtual Reality? Not only does it look gorgeous but it performs great as well.
    Kun - Constructing high level 3D assest for a game like this takes time. A lot of time was dedicated to the concept and planning phase for both enivronments and characters. After that we thought about outsourcing the art but that was going to take longer than expected. Finally we decided to recruite "next gen level" 3D artists who brought our characters and environments to life.
    We also have TA (Technical Artists) who are fully dedicated to improving things like lighting and GFX, aswell as working closely with our 3D artists to find effecient ways of rendering to keep assests performance friendly and beautiful at the same time.

    Yue - The 3D rendendering technology we decided to use in our game is based on PBR. PBR is famous for being used in games like Gears of War, RoboRecall, RawData and COD. Games which all use a lot of metallic textures.
    One challenge we encountered using the technology is that PBR requires the use of a lot of Ambient light, which can be found in many console games. But in VR the way that we designed our scenes is complex, and we couldn't use too much ambient light. So we had to think of creative ways to mimic ambient light using only limited directional lights. This is the kind of work that our TAs and Scene Artist have to work out.

    Terror_Absolute asks: What have been some of the pitfalls and challenges of developing this game?
    Jin - One of the biggest challenges on the marketing and social media side of things is getting over the "wave shooter" stigma. A lot of VR players are sick of wave shooters and understandably so, so when we say "we are a wave shooter but trust it's different and you'll love it" it's a really hard sell. This is still a thing we are working on, but we have been so happy with the response from the players and the fact they are enjoying and "get" what we are trying to do with our game.

    Zhong - Keeping the game at 90fps has been a huge challenge.
    Kun - Piggy backing off what Zhong said, the framerate was really important. We invested a tremendous amount of time working on the technical and art side of things to make sure they game runs well. We are quite proud of the performance of our game running on a GTX970.

    Yue - A big challenge when developing for VR is that regardless of previous gaming experience nearly all players are "new" gamers when it comes to VR. There aren't many standards that everyone understands yet. So you always have to keep that in mind when designing a game for VR.

    mattshonestreddit asks: Hey guys. First of all this is one of my new favourite VR games I actually have 2 questions. 1) will this always be a wave shooter or are there any plans to ads movement in the future? 2) is there a chance that we could see a 4 player version of this game eventually?
    Kun - 1) Internally it's still being discussed. We will be doing an experiment here before finally do it for the product. :) and it'll be an ASAP.
    2) 4 player version, this depends on the number of concurrent gamers. Technically the game supports 4 player mode and it shouldn't take too long when we see it an emerging need.

    Fuingo asks: Hello guys! Are there any plans for leveling up weapons and abilities? It'd be great to unlock a couple of different arrow types for the Archer! Keep up the good work, this is definitely one of the most active VR games I've played!
    Yue - We won't be doing a traditional stat based leveling up system, but we are planning an equipment system. Players will be able to unlock new swords, bows, gun, etc all with their own unique stats and abilities. Players will be able to select their class and then customize their loadouts.
    We are also looking into developing a skill tree. Players will be able to earn points and them spend them on a skill tree to unlock equippable abilities.

    Alright, onto the patch notes:

    • Fixed an issue with the leaderboards when playing co-op. Now both players will log on the leaderboards.

    • Due to fan demand, we've added GIANT TROPHIES! When holding an unlocked trophy press the voice button (Trackpad on the Vive), a giant trophy will now appear next to the cabinet.

    • Small enemies are no longer invincible while they are spawning from underground.

    • The Warrior's holy sword charges faster.

    • More fans have been added to the Special Thanks section.

    • In-game voice over now supports Mandarin Chinese. Chinese trophy VO will be added in a future update.
