Two years ago, following months of ceaseless conflict between the tenuously united Empires under EDENCOM, the resurfaced Triglavian Collective, and innumerable capsuleers or Kybernauts aiding both sides, the campaign of Liminal Proving heralded by Zorya Triglav came to a close.
As a 27th system processed into Final Liminality, the Collective evoked Totality from the transmuted stars, altering spacetime between them to bridge the boundary between New Eden and Abyssal Deadspace. Weaving the systems together with conduit gates, each Clade soon claimed their Krai – and the leviathan conduit-loop construct known as the Domain of Pochven was defined.
Today, Kybernauts across New Eden celebrate the second anniversary of the formation of Pochven on Totality Day, a capsuleer holiday started by those who aided the Triglavian Collective in their campaign – but celebrations haven’t gone unnoticed, and pilots of all allegiances will be able to take part, with festivities, a special new Totality Day pack, a Kikimora Proving Grounds event, and more!
PROVING ACROSS POCHVEN
During Totality Day celebrations (running 13-18 October), Kybernauts and capsuleers alike are invited to a week of intense and glorifying combat throughout every system in Pochven – where you can enjoy a special 90% PVP Loot Drop rate for the duration of the event, as well as an extra warp speed bonus. Prove your potential against your fellow pilots, and have fun!
DIALECTIC DEMOLITION

GOOD THINGS COME IN THREES

No matter where your loyalties lie, there’s something for every capsuleer to enjoy during the Totality Day celebrations. Fly fiercely, Kybernauts – we’ll see you in space!
Dialectic Demolition in the Proving Grounds!
Ceaseless Kybernauts,
Celebrate the second anniversary of Pochven’s formation with a factionally festive Abyssal Proving Ground event, facing off in single combat against your fellow pilots in an ever-upward clash aboard Svarog Clade’s fierce Kikimora!
This special event begins at 11:00 UTC on 15 October and will run for exactly one day, concluding at 11:00 UTC on 16 October.
The ruleset is as follows:
Only the Kikimora may enter – show your strength on even ground!
Pilots receive 10m ISK for every match where they deal at least 2000 damage
Turret and missile damage is increased by 50%
All ships gain +500 shield, armor, and hull HP
100% bonus to the benefits of overheating tackle, propulsion, repair, resistance, and energy warfare modules, as well as turrets and missile launchers
Shield rechargers, boost amplifiers, power relays, and flux coils, core defense field purgers, sensor dampeners, and weapon disruptors cannot be fitted
Ships entering this arena may fit a maximum of one local repair module
Modules are restricted to meta level 5 and below
Glorification and gore go hand-in-hand in this facet of the Triglavian philosophy of Proving, and no one is better-equipped to make the most of both than the Kybernauts and Capsuleers of New Eden; so fit your Kikimoras, grab your event filaments (available in Abyssal Deadspace caches, in Triglavian wrecks in Pochven, or on the in-game market), and celebrate Totality Day in true Triglavian fashion!
EVE Evolved
Upstanding capsuleers,
The sweeping changes detailed previously in EVE Evolved – Performance is Primary are now live on Tranquility! We announced some of these features during this year’s Fanfest, and are excited for you to get your hands on them in this update.
This all comes as part of our EVE Evolved initiative where we strive to bring cutting-edge visual and technical capabilities to New Eden. Log into EVE today to experience smoother performance both for your eyes and your ears, supported by the clean and modern Photon UI!
A NEW ERA FOR SOUND
With immediate effect, the new sound prioritization system has been enabled in EVE, bringing the soundscape of New Eden’s battles to life with new levels of detail and clarity. The client will no longer try to play all sounds at once; instead, only the most important or relevant sound effects will grace your ears. While it might seem like a minor change, everyone should experience significant CPU usage improvement in busy scenes better showcasing EVE’s beautiful sounds of destruction.
Beyond the performance lift, the sound prioritization system doesn’t just take immersion to new levels; you’ll also be able to hear and understand the battlefield soundscape more clearly, giving you a better sense of the conflict evolving around you. Read all about it in the recent Sound Prioritization Dev Blog!
SUPREME SMOOTHNESS WITHOUT SACRIFICE
Those of you with AMD FreeSync™ or NVIDIA® G-SYNC® monitors and GPUs are in for a treat, too, as the technology has now been enabled in EVE Online. By leveraging a Variable Refresh Rate, EVE will now be able to offer supreme smoothness at a level previously not possible when vertical synchronisation alone was enabled. Best of all, this comes without any performance impact at all. If you’re interested in the tech then check out the AMD FreeSync™ Dev Blog.
A UI EVOLUTION
To complete this beautiful trifecta of improvements, Photon UI has been further modernized, now introduced as an opt-out Beta! The Neocom has now undergone a makeover, matching the modernity of Photon and improving legibility overall. This comes alongside an update to the notifications, replacing red dots with a more subtle highlight, and an enhanced compact mode giving you more control over how you view your inventory.
Photon UI is now an opt-out feature for all users, meaning that it will be exposed to more players than ever before. This vital step will help us collect data on what works and what doesn’t even faster, meaning that Photon UI can be further improved. You can still opt out for now, but please do share your reasoning for doing so on the EVE forums to help everyone!
COMING SOON TO A SOLAR SYSTEM NEAR YOU!
In our Uprising expansion this November, we’ll be delivering more EVE Evolved features which will allow you to experience new heights of audio and visual fidelity, along with improved performance.
Better Turret Audio
Experience battlefield clarity with refined audio and less sonic pollution
New Faction Warfare Music
Lose yourself to the new soundtracks as you go deeper into the FW sites
AMD FidelityFX™ Super Resolution 1.0
This upscaling technology helps boost your framerate in EVE by balancing image quality and render speed for a smoother experience
Ambient Occlusion
Improved shading and rendering techniques will power visual upgrades to all Upwell Hangars
Object Instancing
This technology empowers our artists to incorporate more detail in a scene than ever before with minimal impact on performance. It will first become available with Upwell Hangars in the Uprising expansion!
And that’s not all for EVE Evolved! We’ll have more to share in the months to come, such as:
Doppler Shift
The Doppler effect enhances the audible sense of movement between objects, giving you a more immersive space flight
Multithreaded Rendering
Increased performance by allocating the rendering workload across multiple CPU cores
Improved Shadows
Adding realism and beauty, improved shadows will increase the visceral experience of your New Eden journey
LEAD UP TO UPRISING
In the weeks to come, you can also expect to see additional quality of life improvements making their way to New Eden including a series of updates live today that will help you move your forces across space much easier and more smoothly than before!
The significant Ship Maintenance Array Update eases restrictions on what items can be added to your Capital Ship Maintenance Bay, allowing you to move ships with refits without restriction.
There is also a reduction in volume of all Battleships bringing high volume ships down to 470,000 m3 allowing better space management for capitals. The Uprising expansion is just around the corner and we can’t wait to see what you’ll get up to following this exciting narrative driven expansion!
Every one of these improvements – and EVE Evolved more broadly – are part of ‘EVE Forever’; a mantra and mindset that guides the journey to continually push and evolve EVE far into the future.
Alliance Tournament XVIII Starts this Weekend
Competitive Capsuleers!
A lot has happened since our last Alliance Tournament check-in, so let us get you up to date with what's already taken place, and what's coming up!
Trials and Main Tournament entry
All the teams that didn't get direct entry into the Alliance Tournament this year submitted silent bids to buy into the tournament. This has given us a list of teams that will be battling it out in the arena over the next few weekends in the Trials Tournament!

[th]Trials Tournament Teams[/th][th]

Ah Hail NahRusty Hyenas Clan

Bright Side of DeathScary Wormhole People

Electus MatariSeriously Suspicious

Exodus.Shadow Cartel

Goonswarm FederationShut Up I am Trying

HIDDEN LEAF VILLAGE NINJA AssAssIn SQUAD eSportsSingularity Syndicate

Hisec MinersSnuffed Out

Hole ControlSpectre Fleet

Kitchen SinkholeThe Ancients.

L A Z E R H A W K SThe Initiative

Moss Piglet Preservation SocietyThe Minions

No Vacancies.The Network

No visual.TURBOFEED OR GLORY

Odin's CallUshra'Khan

Of Sound MindWE FORM BL0B

OutfoxedWe Forsakened Few

Percussive Pizza Time DiplomacyWolves Amongst Strangers

Prismatic Legion

The seven Minmatar tribes will be sponsoring the entry of one of the teams listed above, earning their way in through combat and a little bit of flag flying.
Each team is part of a group of six (and one group of five) where they will be playing at least twice and – if they win a sponsorship through the redemption arc of the Nefantar – up to 10 games!
As there are likely to be a few games in each group where two teams could win, a tiebreaker mechanism has been set up. In the case of a tie, if a team brings a Minmatar Hull, they are given bonus points for their team. Then, should a second tie-breaker be needed, the score achieved across their games will also be considered.
As dictated by tournament tradition, to decide the brackets for the Trials Tournament and the Alliance Tournament, CCP Convict and CCP Zelus did a short broadcast to share the information simultaneously with all the teams. But, rather than using a bingo ball machine like last year, the team's fate was decided by a marble run! You can catch the Twitch VOD if you want to see it yourself here.
The Trials will be broadcasted for us by EVE_NT on the CCP Twitch channel over the next two weekends. The first match each day will be starting at 15:00 UTC for the first 3 days and 16:40 UTC on the final day of the Trials on 9 October. The Trials will feature up to 65 matches of competitive combat and explosions for your enjoyment!
Given the unique format of the Trials Tournament, you can find a link to the schedule as a Google sheet here.

Alliance Tournament Match Weekends
The winning entries from the silent bids and the direct entry teams give us the list of our 25 teams below:
The seeds and subsequent brackets for the Main Tournament were also decided in a marble run, the results of which can be found on Challonge here.
The teams which win through to the Main Tournament from the Trials will be added to those brackets once the Trials have concluded. The format for the Main Tournament is the traditional format we've all come to know and love, so on the weekends of 12-13 November and 19-20 November be ready to tune in for even more explosions!
What comes after the Trials?
Once the Trials Tournament is over we'll have another update for you all, declaring the winners along with the updated brackets for the Main Tournament, the match schedule, as well as the Flagship Declarations (Team captains can register their Flagships here) from each of the teams.
Information about prizes for this year's Alliance Tournament will be coming at a later date.
We'll see you all for some explosive action this weekend and next starting at 15:00 UTC on CCP TV!
Empire Frontiers - The Race is On
Decisive capsuleers,
Tensions continue to mount as the empires fight over the legacy of the Triglavian Collective’s invasion of New Eden. The race is on to gain understanding and advantages with the potential to shift the balance of power and catapult New Eden toward new & unprecedented frontiers. Not only those involved in Factional Warfare, but all capsuleers are called upon to take part – from combat pilots to explorers, industrialists, and more. This is your moment to make a difference!
In recent months, each of the empires have sounded a clear call to action, exhorting their respective militias’ capsuleers to assist in capturing and holding territory key to their ongoing efforts. The Amarr and Minmatar are currently pursuing Triglavian Stellar Transmuter technology, with the Caldari and Gallente focusing their attention on separate unidentified tech initially recovered by EDENCOM from a hidden Triglavian installation on the surface of Athounon V. Both represent vital research targets for the respective empires.
The foundations have been laid, the stage is set, and the curtains have risen on EVE's next chapter. Two research races that will determine the future of the cluster have commenced in the empires’ turbulent warzones, with outcomes decided solely by you – the capsuleers of New Eden.
RIGHTFUL REWARDS
In order to inspire capsuleers with reasons to assist them beyond loyalty alone, and the resulting need to make it worthwhile to side with them over their enemies, the victorious empire in each race will be distributing special blueprint copies of newly developed navy exploration frigates and battlecruisers to their projects’ most valuable contributors!
ATHOUNON STARGATE CONSTRUCTION RACE
In recent weeks, both the Caldari State and the Gallente Federation have initiated construction of new stargates – intended to directly link the Athounon system to secure locations in their own well-defended borders and enable the secure extraction of technology from the storm-cloaked surface of Athounon V.
This is happening right now, with both sides attracting capsuleers to aid in their efforts by engaging in direct action and contributing material resources to their construction sites in Athounon – making it imperative that all available capsuleers act immediately to support their favored empire!
Capsuleers can get involved by fighting for Factional Warfare control of Athounon, which requires membership in an empire militia. Alternatively – or additionally – you can gather resources at key mining sites prospected throughout the Serthoulde constellation which are open to militia and non-militia capsuleers alike.
The two stargates thus far have only made progress toward completion while Athounon has been under the full control of their respective factions, assembling at a constant rate while the system is secure. Consequently, faction militia engagement in and around the system is essential to securing victory.
You have the power to decide whether the Caldari or the Gallente complete their stargate first, so take up arms and harvest and deliver resources to your faction’s stargate in Athounon to hasten their completion!
STELLAR TRANSMUTER RESEARCH RACE
If your loyalties lie with the Amarr Empire or Minmatar Republic, you can get involved to further their causes in understanding and benefitting from the Triglavians’ stellar harvesting and engineering methods! Since the Amarr Empire's construction of prototype Stellar Transmuters in the Amarr-Minmatar warzone, the Republic Militia has continually rallied to retake territory and interfere with Amarr operations.
Starting today, however, the situation has evolved. Sequential activation of the prototypes has begun, and all capsuleers loyal to either empire are urgently called to aid their faction’s efforts now!
You can help either the Amarr or Minmatar by engaging in Factional Warfare activities in Turnur and surrounding systems in the same constellation, with additional hotspots emerging in Egmar and Vard in the coming days.
You can also engage in hacking at special exploration sites in the same systems in order to loot and deliver encrypted research data to your chosen empire, which will aid them in gaining the advantage before the opposition!
If you are a member of either side’s faction militia and enter the corresponding exploration site, there will be friendly NPCs that allow you through and may well defend you against opposition or non-militia interlopers! Be warned, those not in a corresponding faction militia will be attacked by these guards.
Every moment that your empire is in control of the system gets them to their goal faster – their fate is in your hands! By gathering and delivering research data and being victorious in the warzones, you will help your empire gain access to the coveted technology first!
If you’d like to learn about these kinds of events and what goes into them, check out the recent stream on CCP TV that goes into depth on capsuleer driven events as part of the new narrative arcs in EVE.
As the empires align once again down an uncertain path, none can say what the future may hold – but through your actions, the fates of empires and the hopes of worlds will be decided; aid your favored faction as they pursue new understandings, and fight for a future of your own making!
Community Beat for 23 September
Welcome back pilots to the Community Beat!
Can you believe this is already the 25th issue of the Community Beat?! Fifty weeks ago we started on a journey to help introduce players to the myriad of EVE’s community resources, in-game events, out-of-game gatherings, developer chats – anything and everything!
Let’s get to it!
If You Build It…
We’ve featured YouCaldarian before, but he’s at it again making amazing – and incredibly detailed - ship models. Check out his latest Tengu, complete with the Exoplanets Hunter SKIN. We’re not quite sure how YouCaldairan managed to level Caldari Starship Engineering to VI – but we love the results!
Alliance Tournament Getting Closer!
New Eden’s premier competitive PvP tournament: The Alliance Tournament, is just around the corner. This week CCP Zelus and CCP Convict took to CCPTV for the live seeding of the Tournament bracket. Each year a different groups sponsors the Alliance Tournament, and this year the Minmatar Republic have taken that mantle.
For teams that didn’t bid directly into the competition, the Minmatar have setup a very unique play-in tournament called the Trials Tournament. Teams are broken down into different groups, representing each of the seven Tribes, and the winners of each group stage proceed to the main Tournament in November. Second place teams from each Tribe go into a redemption pool for one final shot at glory.
Mark your calendars because the action kicks off next weekend, October 1st & 2nd!
Strategic Looks
The Loki, Proteus, Tengu and Legion belong to a special class of ships called Strategic Cruisers. Unlike most ships, these ships change their bonuses based on which Subsystem is equipped. Different Subsystems also change the ships appearance. If you come across one of these ships in space and you need to decide whether to run or fight, it’s incredibly helpful to know what you’re up against. Thankfully for us, Mazzic Karde put together a Visual Strategic Cruiser Identification Guide!
For those wanting to go even more advanced, he’s got a follow-up guide for identifying turrets and launchers. Commit these to memory and you can know exactly the type of ship you’re up against – potentially before the fight even starts. Use your superior EVE knowledge to eek out a victory, or perform a dashing escape.
Burnin’ for you!
While working for mission agents, occasionally pilots will run across “Burner Missions” - incredibly high-value missions with no penalty for declining. , occasionally pilots will run across “Burner Missions” - incredibly high-value missions with no penalty for declining. Players familiar with these sites often run missions exclusively for these, while others choose to skip them entirely. If you fall into that latter category, Erstschlag has made a compelling case as to why you should overheat out of your comfort zone and tackle these head on!
In Space Nobody Can Hear You…Add
There’s so much great content this week! As we learned in the Uprising Announcement, updates to Factional Warfare are coming in November. While not exclusively PvP oriented, there is quite a lot of PvP content for all levels of play. Many pilots have said it’s a great way to dip your toes into PvP, and we tend to agree.
Some of the most rewarding fights come down to perfect execution, and in the above video capsuleer Hookk perfectly diagrams a well-crafted engagement. From the killmail alone the fight would seem completely mundane, but these inside looks show just how much EVE knowledge & understanding your fleets capabilities can do. He also includes some fleet lexicon, so in your first fleet you can sound like a seasoned vet!
That’s it for this week, space friends! Head on over to the EVE Online Forums to let us know what you thought of the Beat this week, or if there’s anything you’re interested in hearing about moving forward.

If you are not aware of the music wizard that is “aulorana equlisers” (aka EQ), it’s time to introduce you!EQ has been producing music for a little while now - the last time we tuned in to one of his streams he was remixing some of the Hybrid/Railgun Turret sounds and trying to use it as a backing track to an Eve song. His latest compilation that has been published is an Eve Parody of the old Beatles track “Come Together” which he has appropriately named, “Fleet Together” Check it out:
EQ Is also on Spotify as well if you want to check out some of their other content.
Googly Eyes Make Everything Better
T’Amber is an incredibly creative individual, playing around with creating wild ship skins and ship attachments, from Ears on Avatars to animated. His most recent one, (with the help of DerSchmale on GitHub for the code to do it and Corvus for the idea) has been with the addition of Googly eyes!
Googly eyes really do make everything better.
Ingame Player Event: Tribute to Bob!
To a lot of Wormholers, the deity known as Bob is something that blesses/curses the realm based on favour, and it’s felt that occasionally, sacrifices need to be made to Bob. In celebration of Wormholer Mark Resurrectus being voted by the players onto the CSM, a promise of a sacrifice of a Zirnitra was made, in thanks to Bob for blessing them. On September 17 at 2200 UTC a Zirnitra will be sacrificed at the sun in the wormhole system of J1347029, so if you can navigate your way through wormholes and find the system, feel free to watch, shoot at them, or come for the fireworks.

Uprising – A Major New Expansion
Battle-ready capsuleers,
The universe never stands still, and EVE Online’s first narrative arc has already been building tension between the empires. Now, the stage is set to bring about an intense, thrilling future in New Eden. The time to choose your battle, fly your colors, and reap the greatest rewards that victory and loyalty can offer draws near!
Uprising is a brand-new narrative-driven expansion for EVE Online launching in November, ushering in major improvements to Factional Warfare (FW), introducing a suite of new ships in addition to a plethora of balance changes to existing ships, corporation and alliance logos on your vessels as part of the introduction to heraldry, new visually immersive hangars, and more.
The first narrative arc has already begun with the discovery of an abandoned EDENCOM structure after its cloak began failing over a storm planet in the system of Athounon. Capsuleers have also found mysterious construction sites across space, with some believing these to be stellar harvesters and stargates being independently constructed by the empires, leaving the tenuous peace between them at risk.
Keep your eyes open as the narrative arc progresses, and be sure to take part as the story unfolds. Your involvement will help shape New Eden by revealing fresh features to help in future battles, including brand-new ships in-game, some of which will be unveiled much sooner than others. The introduction of these new ships will increase the diversity of tools available to a wide array of capsuleers, from those just starting their journey to more established veterans, while bringing some serious visual intimidation to the battlefield!
The Uprising expansion brings many significant changes to Factional Warfare some of which are outlined in the State of the Union news item including a complete rework of complexes, and a new advantage functionality that allows you to give your chosen Faction an edge in FW.
This part of the expansion aims to evolve Factional Warfare into a more intense and exciting combat playstyle for FW enthusiasts. There will be more incentives to support and fight for your favorite Empire, a wider array of opportunities to contribute to the war effort across the warzone, and new events will be introduced creating more possibilities for empires to issue campaign objectives to those who enlist.
This is only the beginning! There are even more exciting improvements following this expansion that will help open the gates even further to Factional Warfare in EVE, with a significant update that includes factional allegiance, targeted for Q1 of 2023. This will allow players to aid a Faction in FW irrespective of corporation or alliance.
A phased rollout of Factional Warfare improvements enables us to observe how players in the current FW ecosystem interact with the features without tipping the scales too drastically too quickly. Allegiance is a focus to address, as we know many capsuleers are excited about Factional Warfare and are eager to get involved.
For those pilots not currently enlisted in FW, there will still be plenty for you to do across the warzone, roles to perform, stories to partake in, and amazing rewards to earn.
Furthermore, the new Frontlines in Factional Warfare will draw pilots closer to the borders of their opponents and present new rewarding challenges that focus capsuleer efforts towards key, emerging conflict hot spots where empire history will be written!
Alongside this big shake up of combat strategy, opportunities to earn rewards that unlock Heraldry on ships will be made available. Corporation and alliance logos on ships will act as the introduction to Heraldry, with many more customization options on the horizon following this initial launch such as citadel SKINs and holograms on ships.
If that wasn’t enough, there will be massive enhancements to Upwell hangars that will ramp up the visual immersion while docking and undocking in New Eden. The special attention put into this visual upgrade helps ensure that when you undock from your new hangar, you’ll still get out into space at a speed that is on par with other structures in the game. What better way to admire those fantastic alliance logos and new ships than in a beautiful new hangar?
From now until the release of Uprising in November, there will be a steady stream of updates and content as shown in the roadmap below, while the narrative arc will also continue to advance the story in-game. Our goal moving forward is to unveil more of our roadmap to the community as time progresses. Stay alert, keep your eyes to the stars, your warp drive ready, and your ammo loaded.
The time is quickly approaching for capsuleers across the cluster to rise up, unite under their banners, storm the frontlines, and do it in style!
