A new Proving Grounds event arrives in EVE this Sunday 7 November, offering 1v1 duellists the chance to fight for glory, as well as bonus ISK rewards!
This is another chance to celebrate Alliance Tournament XVII in the Proving Grounds, and is themed this time around intense Tactical Destroyer combat.
The event will begin at 11:00 UTC on 7 November, and will run until 11:00 UTC on 8 November.
The following rule-set applies in this latest clash:
Ready for a very personal challenge? Fit your best Tactical Cruisers, and don’t forget to stock up on entry filaments from Pochven NPC wrecks, Abyssal bioadaptive caches, or from the in-game market.
While the Alliances fight their own battles, don’t miss this chance to grab your own slice of leaderboard glory, and bank some bonus ISK to boot!
A new Proving Grounds is on its way, offering you and a fleetmate the chance to do battle together in a selection of Cruisers!
The event begins at 11:00 UTC on 6 November, and will run until 11:00 UTC on 7 November.
Celebrating the arrival of Alliance Tournament XVII, the new event will feature the following ruleset:
Find a fleetmate, fit your Cruisers, and grab your filaments from Pochven NPC wrecks, Abyssal bioadaptive caches, or from the in-game market.
Get ready for an intense bout of 2v2 Cruiser combat, as you and your friend compete to rise up the Proving Ground leaderboards, and earn exciting rewards!
In our last edition, we covered some amazing EVE Partners, relived exciting battles, Halloween player events, and got a sneak peek at CCPTV proudctions. Today we look forward to the Alliance Tournament, look back at EVE Vegas, and announce the return of another great CCP tradition.
If this is your first Community Beat, worry not! To get you up to speed, our aim with these articles is to provide a foundation for all aspects of the EVE community: in-game events, developer chats, player meets, CSM reports, and much more. With a landscape as diverse and turbulent as EVE’s has become over the last near-nineteen years, no version of the Community Beat will ever look the same.
As is customary for the Beat, sit back, crack open a brand new Apple Quafe, and enjoy!
Alliance Tournament XVII

You can find the Tournament bracket here, and follow your favorite teams on the official schedule

With a revamped ruleset, this year proves to be one of the most thrilling and challenging PvP events.
Sponsors of the Alliance Tournament, the Mordu’s Legion, spared no expense in the prizes for this years’ competition. Two hundred and eighty all-new prize ships – the Raiju and Laelaps – are up for grabs for the top 16 teams. But there are viewer prizes as well! You can earn CCPTV Loyalty Points on Twitch by watching the riveting matches, and by correctly predicting the outcomes. Fleet Up! - EVE Vegas Roundup
As players returned home from EVE Vegas (22 October to 24 October), the largest event of 2021, there was no shortage of wonderful stories and great pictures from the meetup. CCP Nocturne, CCP Aurora, and CCP Icecream were on site for all the action. Although there was some Jump Fatigue from travel, seeing so many players gathered in one venue recharged our batteries. Group dinners, a private screening of Dune, tons of swag, and of course amazing conversation.
A huge shout-out to members of Ascendance, who handed out physical ship models of the capital ships that their members lost in battle. What a marvelous touch! EVE players never disappoint in their creativity and ingenuity when it comes to player meets. We can’t wait to see what fun future events hold in store for the wonderful EVE Community!
Fanfest Returns!
It’s not just player meetups that are returning; gates are green for Fanfest 2022! The EVE meet that started it all is returning to Iceland 6-7 May, 2022, and we couldn't be more ecstatic. Fanfest is a cherished time here at CCP where we can meet players face to face, chat, and share our love for EVE Online. There are so many fun events and topics planned; we're more excited than a Minmatar in a Rifter!
Presentations, charity dinner, the finals of the World Tour tournament, developer & player talks, the CCP Games Games - and so much more. We're counting down the days!

His legacy is a reminder that in New Eden, Capsuleers are free to chart their own path.
In his latest project, “EVE Is Made By You”, Chirbba honors EVE players through jaw-dropping artwork. This week, CCP Aurora & Swift were guests on the <10 Podcast - one of EVE's most popular small-gang focused podcasts. Discussion topics included the new CONCORD Rogue Analysis Beacon, a lengthy discussion about varied playstyles, and of course the upcoming Alliance Tournament.
It's not the size of your fleet, it's how you lose it! - CCP Aurora
The <10 Podcast is a wonderful resource for players of all skill level who enjoy, or are interested in learning about, PvP'ing in a smaller setting. Alliance Tournament XVII Starts Tomorrow!
Gladiatorial Capsuleers,
The first weekend of Alliance Tournament XVII begins tomorrow, on 6 November! Prepare yourselves for an intense and exciting competition, with a staggering 40 teams in total rearing and ready to rumble in this year’s Alliance Tournament!
Teams will be fiercely competing for glory and spectacularly flat prize ships designed by Mordus Legion, the sponsor of this year’s Tournament – and every minute of valiant teamwork and bombastic carnage alike will be on full display for all to enjoy, broadcast on Twitch live from Reykjavik in our brand-new studio, produced in collaboration with our beloved EVE_NT partners!
During each day of the tournament, giveaways will be running regularly onstream, giving viewers the opportunity to win hundreds of SKINs – including the gorgeous and highly anticipated GalNet Streamcast series, as well as a number of physical prizes including EVE watches, USB hub Rifters, vouchers for EVE merch, and a selection of ship models from Mixed Dimensions!
Localized streams from our partners on Twitch will also be available: Russian Chinese Japanese
Check out the ATXVII Announcement Blog, Rules to get an overview on what to expect in the Tournament, view the Brackets hosted on Challonge to see the full lineup and track the progress of all 40 teams, steal a peek at this year’s spectacular Prize Ships – the Raiju EAF and the Laelaps HIC, for a sneak preview of the fabulous rewards the Tournament’s winners will receive!
In addition to the prizes Alliance Tournament competitors can win, those participants who score a final blow on an enemy ship will get an additional prize.
Each death that occurs during the tournament will be minted into an NFT (non-fungible token) of the killmail to be memorialized on the Tezos blockchain. The killer will be the listed owner of this NFT and what they want to do with the NFT is entirely up to them; sell and trade these limited edition images, or hoard them as trophies as they see fit.
We are keenly aware of the environmental impact of cryptocurrencies, and for this reason, we opted to partner with Tezos for this project. Tezos’s Proof of Stake, the mechanism by which blockchain transactions are validated, is an extremely energy-efficient approach that uses two million times less energy than similar Proof of Work networks.
In regards to the power consumption of the AT NFTs, with an estimated power draw of only 200mWh per token and a maximum of 4000 NFTs being minted, the total consumption of the entire production process will equal less than it takes to run a mid-tier gaming PC for 3 hours – less than a single viewer watching only a tenth of the Alliance Tournament would be using.
And as an exciting extra bonus, in celebration of the return of the Alliance Tournament, the IGC will be relaunching the IGC SKIN series on the NES on 6 November, and releasing IGC SKINs for Mordus Legion’s Garmur, Orthrus, and Barghest on 9 November!

Building Better Capsuleers
Ambitious Capsuleers,
The Gateway Quadrant comes to an end this November, and we’re happy to bring you a summary of what’s been accomplished in the areas of the new player experience in EVE Online, as well as some details on what’s to come in the future – both near and far. Take a stroll through the various additions and improvements EVE has seen during this Quadrant, and look forward to what’s next!
[previewyoutube="2mglpA978U4;full"]
LAUNCH OF THE AIR NPE
The new AIR NPE has brought a powerful first adventure to new players, with a 30% increase to the average length of a player’s first session in EVE, and a massive uptick in NPE completion rates! Since its release, the AIR NPE has seen a number of fixes and some polish – and in November, we’ll be introducing animated Aura, Vesper, and Balin for an even more engaging experience.
[previewyoutube="2sZUGTCzuGM;full"]
Work is underway to introduce a mining mission in the first half of 2022, introducing players to the fundamental cycles of the EVE Online economy - the first step in a longer plan to iterate.
Farther down the line, look forward to continued building on the narrative experience of the NPE through additional content, providing new players an engaging and enjoyable series of adventures!
UPDATES TO SKILL PLANS
The introduction of Skill Plans has brought increased interactions with skill training with thousands of skill plans created. Since the rollout, Skill Plans have seen various fixes and refinements, such as improved tooltips and explanations, as well as visible required time for skill levels without needing to check tooltips.
In the November release, look forward to being able to drag ship fittings into a Skill Plan to automatically populate it with the fitting’s required skills. Corporation Skill Plans are coming to players in December, along with a new Skill Plan Manager role that enables corporations to create, save and share specialized plans with their members – providing a strong foundation and framework for new recruits. In addition, players will be able to import and export Skill Plans to and from the clipboard.
OPPORTUNITIES AND CORP FINDER UPDATES
Through observing what works best, we’ve learned that someOpportunities are more effective than others at helping players find their bearing in the vast world of EVE and will be building heavily on that knowledge as time goes on. In November, another testing phase will begin building data for the purpose of bringing players individually personalized content recommendations based on their activities and preferences in the future.
[previewyoutube="HI5CaBRB0cM;full"]
New Landmark-based opportunities are also on their way, giving players opportunities to travel to and visit various interesting locations around New Eden and become better immersed in the world of EVE.
Additionally, look forward to various Corporation Finder improvements in November, with updates to some filters and functions and more specific corporation ads - allowing for improved player-corporation matchmaking.
EVE ACADEMY REVAMP
Thus far, the EVE Academy page has provided a marked improvement to players’ early experience in EVE, with more than 90% of respondents reporting that the page has helped them find their path in the vast world of New Eden. Players have spent more than one year combined watching the various EVE Academy videos, and the Academy site in general has maintained a very high level of engagement.
Since release, six new videos have been published – and based on feedback from players, new resources and information, including skill plans, AIR, PVP roles, a link to the Fiction Portal, and more.
In November, look forward to the first phase in the revamping of EVE Academy, promising iterations on content and improved resources for all players – as well as the final Career video, focusing on PVP. The new Academy site will also see various new content, teaching players about a selection of specific ships, with a comprehensive page explaining the vital info that goes into flying your ship coming a bit later.
The Gateway Quadrant has brought significant improvements to EVE in across various areas, and we’re looking forward to continuing this path, bringing new and older players alike improved experiences and all kinds of engaging and enjoyable content as we approach the next year of EVE Online.
See you in space, and fly safe!
EVE Fanfest Returns in 2022
Resilient Capsuleers,
The time has come to finally reunite with your fellow Capsuleers from around the world – in person – as EVE Fanfest returns to Iceland in 2022! As the opportunity to meet up with your space friends and celebrate together becomes a reality once more, this unique event is not to be missed after such a long time apart.
[previewyoutube="LAn3idYe8Ko;full"]
From 6-7 May 2022, you’ll be able to enjoy presentations about EVE (both from developers and other EVE experts - including Scott Manley!), roundtables, charity dinner, a silent auction, and a player tournament. Of course, no Fanfest would be complete without the legendary pub crawl, as well as the Party at the Top of the World. There’ll also be plenty of other unofficial events to enjoy (not included in the ticket price) between 5-8 May. More details of these will be released soon.
Fanfest will be returning to its roots for the 2022 event. Laugardalshöll arena is the chosen venue this time, the scene of many a beloved Fanfest in the past - and home to Riot’s Worlds! This one-time-only return to Laugardalshöll will be your chance to witness how the EVE community and development teams embrace one another, bringing legendary levels of fun and camaraderie to the gathering.
Tickets are available now, but act fast as the best-priced Early Bird tickets always sell out quickly. Since Fanfest is returning after quite some time, there’ll be a limited supply of tickets for the event overall. Secure your tickets today to make sure you do not miss out on an unforgettable experience! For more information, check out the EVE Fanfest page
Iceland is safe to travel to and remains an incredible destination, thanks to an embarrassment of riches when it comes to natural wonders - including a newly-erupted volcano! There’s never been a better time to visit, so why not combine the return of Fanfest in 2022 with an amazing holiday to one of the world’s most unique locations?
The world is ever-changing when it comes to COVID-19 and the precautions it requires. Come May 2022, we will err on the side of caution, and work closely with local health authorities to ensure that EVE players have a great - and safe - experience. Following Iceland’s Directorate of Health Travel Guidance, everyone coming to Fanfest will be required to show proof of vaccination. Depending on the recommendation of health officials nearer the time, we may require attendees to be tested before entering the arena. This is all done to ensure that we can enjoy each other’s company without worry.
The gate is green. We cannot wait to meet you all in person here in Iceland, trade stories, party together as we celebrate EVE’s 19th birthday, and so much more.
We’re happy to announce the launch of print-on-demand merchandise for EVE, bringing you all better access to all sorts of fantastic gear as we pave the road toward a much broader variety of available designs and goods!
Kicking things off, we’ll be offering T-shirts of various fits, zip-up hoodies, and water bottles, ready to be emblazoned with a variety of empire and pirate faction designs, as well as certain ship collections and other classic designs.
In addition, we are releasing a line of Blood Raider designs inspired by their yearly cluster-wide festival, the Crimson Harvest!
We’ll also be opening a special EU-centric print-on-demand store section on the merch site, providing the same awesome apparel at significantly better shipping rates.
The main store will still be available worldwide, as it is not region-restricted.
This is only the beginning – look forward to an expansion of offerings and designs as we enter a new and more accessible era of EVE Online style!
Alliance Tournament XVII Prizes
Alliance Tournament XVII is fast approaching! The teams have been practicing hard to prepare for the annual bloodbath in the arena that will take place on the first two weekends of November, but before gazing at the explosions, it’s time to look at the epic prizes that are up for grabs this year – both for the competitors, and for those cheering on their teams.
As teased in the original announcement, new tournament prize ships are being created for this year’s event. While these ships are still in development, you can feed your excitement with a sneak peek!
Raiju
"'Two generals choosing to meet in battle will each believe victory is in their grasp despite one general being wrong in the greater number of cases. This shows the importance of good information to the general in the field. If information is lacking, false, or otherwise imperfect, disaster is sure for the general acting precipitously.'
So it goes somewhere in the Analects. In other words, make sure of your own info before committing, and if you can stop the other guy from knowing what the hell is going on, so much the better. It's basic but you'd be surprised how often people will jump into a fight without thinking it through."
– Muryia Mordu, quoting the Analects of the Raata Empire
The Raiju is Mordu’s Legion’s premiere electronic attack frigate. Based on the Garmur hull, this ship boasts Mordu’s signature speed and terrifying missile output. It is also complemented by an extreme warp disruption range bonus as well as bonuses to sensor dampener strength which will allow it to hold down an enemy from range, pour on the missile damage, and prevent it from even thinking about shooting back. If you are unlucky enough to encounter one of these ships, bring friends.
Laelaps
"'The pinning force is an essential element of the war of maneuver but must be carefully assembled from quick yet resilient troops. Scouts cannot pin an army but companies of mounted infantry may achieve the task. Above all, measure the enemy strength before attempting to fix them in place.'
Good old Doule dos Rouvenor. Don't get fixated, no pun intended, on the details of his kind of warfare. I've seen scouts pin down battleships, but that's not the point. Use the right force mix, and have them use the right tools to pin down an enemy force of such and such strength. That's the lesson here. But yeah, don't try and scramble a Nyx with a Garmur. That'll end badly."
– Muryia Mordu, quoting the War Commentaries of dos Rouvenor
If being locked down by the Raiju sounds terrifying, the Laelaps takes it to a whole new level. This ship is a heavy interdictor variant of the Orthrus, combining the Orthrus’ mobility and missile output with heavier tank and a huge bonus to warp disruption field generator range so that nothing can leave its grasp. Unlike many other heavy interdictors which are slow to maneuver, the Laelaps has a bonus to speed which allows it to stay mobile even while its warp disruption field generator is active, making it the fastest heavy interdictor in New Eden.
Prize Format
This year, the distribution of prizes is being altered slightly. Previously, prize ships were reserved for the top 4 teams, but that is now being extended to the top 16. This allows those middle-tier teams to get a small taste of the ships and ensures that each match has value – although the largest rewards are of course still reserved for those teams who make it to the top. Prizes will be allocated to teams based on where they exit the bracket after their second loss.
Top 16 (4 teams, knocked out in losers round 4): 2 Raiju, 2 Laelaps Top 12 (4 teams, knocked out in losers round 5): 4 Raiju, 4 Laelaps Top 8 (2 teams, knocked out in losers round 6): 6 Raiju, 6 Laelaps Top 6 (2 teams, knocked out in losers round 7): 8 Raiju, 8 Laelaps 4th (loser of match 75): 12 Raiju, 12 Laelaps 3rd (loser of match 77): 16 Raiju, 16 Laelaps 2nd (loser of winner’s bracket): 20 Raiju, 20 Laelaps 1st (winner of finals): 40 Raiju, 40 Laelaps (Total of 140 of each ship)
Teams will only get the highest bracket of prizes they have earned. For example, a team which leaves the bracket in losers round 6 will get the top 8 prize (6 Raiju, 6 Laelaps), but will not also receive the top 12 and top 16 prizes.
Twitch Match Predictions
Watching your excitement during the live broadcast of the Alliance Tournament XVII feeder tournament back in September when predicting the outcome of matches was something truly spectacular!
The upcoming main event will also leverage Twitch’s predictions functionality to let the viewers vote on who they believe will crush their opponents in a given match. Each day, there will be hundreds of SKINs up for grabs, including the gorgeous GalNet SKINs that you had your eyes on for a while, as well as a limited number of physical prizes such as Mixed Dimension ship models, EVE watches, USB Hub Rifters, and vouchers for EVE Online Merchandise! These will be activated at different intervals throughout the day, so be sure to clear your schedule if you want a chance of claiming one of them for yourself.

Demonstrate your fervor and quench your thirst for blood in this special event!
The Harvest is upon us, so fly safe, and see you in space!
In our inaugural publication, we covered some wonderful community projects, events, artists, and content creators. We greatly appreciate everyone’s feedback and suggestions, and we look forward to seeing more of it in the coming weeks. If this is your first Community Beat, worry not, as this is a relatively new project.
Battle Report!
As part of the player-organized Totality Day events, Wirashoda played host to a spectacular brawl last weekend. The events pay homage to one of Pochven’s most exciting - and bloody - battles, which took place this summer. That encounter saw Electus Matari finishing off an Azbel belonging to the Triglavian loyalist group, Stribog Clade, in a nail-biting finale.
This weekends’ festivities were more celebratory than tactical, although that didn’t diminish from the action! With over a dozen fleets involved, the brawl continued for over two hours, and featured ships ranging from Frigates to Marauders.
Shortly after 21:00, the first two fleets arrived on grid and the battle began in earnest. The biggest ballers of the night were Jazzy Jassamune Omanid and the combined group of PHUB/PHEW/LBUS/T0AST/KYBER. They brought not one, not two, but FIVE Marauders out to play, along with assorted support ships and logi. Jassamune's big bucket of red meat chummed the waters, and proved to be irresistible to the circling sharks hunting for juicy killmails. Most of the fleets turned to clear the Marauders first. – Sahara Jackal

CCPTV
This week we saw CCP Convict & former CSM council member Steve Ronuken host an informative Quasar Devblog panel with Team Tech Co, live on CCPTV. Covering the technical aspects of EVE’s future is always fascinating, and was a hit for both tech-savvy and casual players alike. If you missed it live, no worries! You can watch a recording of it here.
Coming up on CCPTV this week, Mike Kingswell continues his lecture series on EVE mechanics at 18:00 UTC, this Saturday 23 October. This week’s presentation will cover the ins and outs of one of EVE’s core mechanics for surviving in - and interacting with - New Eden: the Directional Scanner (DSCAN). Thanks Mike - and EVE University - for sharing your knowledge with us!
In-game Event: Eden Trade’s Halloween Treats
It’s trick-or-treat time, New Eden-style! The Crimson Harvest isn’t alone in the spooky festivities. Eden Trade is bringing back its Halloween Event this year, with over 45 billion ISK in treats to be doled out in Stacmon. Of course, it just wouldn’t be EVE without some explosions too, so a post-giveaway brawl has been scheduled in Placid’s most notorious pirate den: Ostingele. Expect a bevy of pumpkin-shaped-wrecks, and with so many potential explosions enterprising salvagers may make off with some handsome rewards.
Mark your calendars and keep up with the festivities on Eden Trade’s official forum thread!

Lore Corner
While most of EVE’s denizens are familiar with the cap-sucking ways of the Blood Raiders, or the wily exploits of V. Salvador Sarpati and the Serpentis, there are some smaller groups that perhaps you’re not as familiar with. Not as universally notorious, The Order of St. Tetrimon also have a long and storied history, specifically within the Amarr Empire.
During the rule of Empress Catiz I, the fortunes of the Order of St. Tetrimon have continued to improve. Under the leadership of Grand Master Khemon Dulsur an-Tetrimon, the Order has established a role as a force useful for seeking out and suppressing rebellion and heresy. Increasing conflict across New Eden has revitalized the "Religious Reclaimer" tendency among the Amarr Empire's powerful nobility and brought support for the Order. Militant and conservative houses such as the Ardishapur and Sarum have forged cordial relations with the Tetrimon, in an Amarr Empire with royal houses, powerful ministries, and religious factions carefully balanced against one another by a relatively new Empress.
Swing by the Order of St. Tetrimon Fortress Monastery in Thebeka to witness the monument. If you'd like to know more, you can brush up on your Amarr lore and learn about Inirie Ardishapur, the dark history of Emperor Zaragram II, and the Order of St Tetrimon.
