It’s coming up to a year since EVE: Valkyrie’s Carrier Assault mode was introduced, so we thought it might be fun to mark the moment with a few celebratory events.
Carrier Assault... All Day!
To kick things off, June 20th is 'Carrier Assault Day' and we will be celebrating by making Carrier Assault available to play all day in multiplayer. The fun starts at 08:00 UTC on 20th Jun 2017 and finishes 24 hours later, so fire up Valkyrie for some intense, non-stop Carrier Assault action.
Music and More
That’s not all, though. We will also be releasing a superb Carrier Assault soundtrack, composed by Rich McCoull, to Soundcloud to mark the occasion.
In addition, throughout the week we will be running a series of mini masterclasses on how to increase your chances of victory in Carrier Assault battles, from the perspective of Fighter, Support and Heavy pilots.
Share Your Assaults
No EVE: Valkyrie celebration would be complete without our loyal and enthusiastic community of pilots, so we want you to get involved. Over the coming weekend, we would like you to share your screens, videos and experiences of playing Carrier Assault using the hashtag #ValkyrieCADay. We will feature our favorites in Tuesday's celebrations.
Break the Record
One last thing, some of you may remember a recent article in which we showcased a video of a team of Valkyrie pilots completing a Carrier Assault run in under two minutes (you can watch the video above). It seems a good time for that record to be broken, so consider this the throwing down of the gauntlet. Use Carrier Assault Day to attempt a new world record and if anyone can pull it off, we’ll publish the results later in the week.

All Guardian Pilots are to Report to Wormhole 00A/955-55JE5. A Schism Incursion is in Progress
The Genesis region of Amarr Empire space has come under threat by a Schism assault, intended to strategically exploit the latest wormhole phenomenon that has opened up there.
Pilots reporting back have described a corrupted version of the area we know as Crossroads, near the planet Otakoo XI. On the other side of the conduit is a shimmering, ethereal environment bathed in a golden light. We have named this area Goldenroad.
Weapons are functioning as normal, but conditions through the wormhole have for some reason rendered every ship, apart from the Guardian, inoperable.
Remember to work as a unit. This is a Deathmatch scenario and while we only have support ships at our disposal, the Guardian’s primary weapon, its Gatling guns, can be highly effective in an intense dogfighting situation such as this.
You have fewer than 72 hours to turn the tide of battle.
Good luck out there, pilots!
What’s Your Story, Pilot?
Most of us pilots know about the complicated relationship between Rán Kavik and Fatal, leader of the Valkyrie and Schism boss respectively. Having been recruited by Fatal, Rán later discovered that she had been deceived by him. On learning of his true nature, she escaped the Schism and formed her own army, the Valkyrie.
If you don’t know EVE: Valkyrie’s backstory, you can find out all about it in our previously published article
However, what we want to know is your individual story. Sure, you’re now a weaponized consciousness that’s being endlessly recycled to further a cause, but you had to come from somewhere, right?
That’s what we want to find out about. We want you to tell us how you came to be part of the Valkyrie. What we want you to do is get into your piloting role, really inhabit your character, and come up with your own personal, fictional backstory.
Community contributor Fendisteel has created a thread over on our forums asking fellow pilots about their backstories, with a few doozies already posted on there. Fendisteel himself has provided a detailed account of his early life and career as a freelance pilot in the Caldari State.
Take a look for yourselves, get inspired, then submit your own stories. It would be fascinating to find out about your former affiliations and the path that led you here.

Wormhole 31A/643-5OLH5 Has Opened Up in the Bleak Lands.
Secure Control of the Region Immediately.
We have a critical situation developing in the region known as the Bleak Lands, in close proximity to planet Kamela VIII.
Bleak Lands is a small but strategically important part of the Amarr Empire. As such, we must defend it at all costs.
Schism forces are already looking to secure the region, so we need our best pilots to amass at the Cathedral area immediately.
Wormhole 31A/643-50LH5 has opened up and presents our forces with a grotesquely distorted version of the Cathedral area.
Unusually, the nature of the environment means that securing the area requires taking control of a single point, resulting in some ferociously hard-fought battles. We have been receiving reports of some truly brutal, compact dogfights occurring around the hotly contested control point.
Adding to the difficulty of the mission is the presence of a large number of deadly mines.
The only craft operational on the other side of the conduit are Revenant and Siren support ships and the Assuage fighter. Bear in mind that the Assuage’s Auto Cannons have limited ammo and are slow to reload, so accuracy is key if you’re to achieve success in this craft.
Similarly, while the support ships are balanced in favor of offence, their Gatling guns and Phasers require pinpoint accuracy and will be at their most effective in the hands of a skilled pilot.
Good luck out there, pilots!
Perilous Galactic Piloting Career Now More Affordable Than Ever
Listen up, pilots. If you have a friend or relative who hasn’t yet joined the ranks of the Valkyrie, you need to let them know that there’s never been a better time to do so.
We are excited to announce that from today, the digital download edition of EVE: Valkyrie - our virtual reality space combat shooter set in the EVE universe - will be available to purchase from $39.99/£29.99/€39.99. That’s a whopping 33% permanent reduction in the suggested retail price (SRP).
Exhilarating VR visuals and online, cross-platform competitive multiplayer action for under 40 bucks (SRP)? It would be rude not to.
The original Founder’s Pack edition of the game has now been retired, but anyone who has previously purchased a Founder’s Pack will retain all the bonus content it included. New players will still be able to unlock paint jobs, XP boosters and other optional ship customization with the currency earned in-game.
In addition, any Founder’s Pack key codes for the retail disk edition of EVE: Valkyrie for PlayStation 4 will remain valid and redeemable until 31 December 2019.
EVE: Valkyrie keeps on growing and evolving - since its launch just over a year ago, the game has received five major free content updates, adding a host of new features, play modes and maps. Whether it's battling for control of orbital shipyards, infiltrating massive enemy carriers, or outmaneuvering rivals in sprawling asteroid fields, EVE: Valkyrie delivers the ultimate sci-fi space combat experience.
What are you waiting for? Spread the word to all your VR gaming friends and we can wrest control of New Eden in greater numbers than ever before.

Chaotic Wormhole Event Has Opened in the Outer Ring Region: Only the Bravest Need Apply
Wormhole event 45B/225-51JP5 has opened up near planet TQ-RRB VII in the Outer Ring region of the galaxy. Beyond the conduit, pilots are reporting a corrupted version of the Forge area that has come to be known as Fire Forge.
Fatal’s Schism forces have amassed on the site with the strategic aim of using it to their advantage to secure that region of space once and for all. We must not let that happen.
While the Fire Forge has been documented before, the adverse conditions in this particular event are somewhat pronounced and extremely hazardous.
Our fleet and munitions have been severely compromised, possibly to a greater extent than we have seen during any wormhole event to date. The stark reality is that our intelligent weapons control systems are no longer functioning and you will, as a result, be vulnerable to friendly fire. Coupled with that, our shields are at zero percent on the other side of the conduit.
Neither us nor the Schism have been able to mobilize any craft other than the heavy Maelstrom and Aegis fighter. Their primary weapons are mortars and flak cannons respectively, and they are powerful, but require precision when attempting to land a hit on the enemy. It’s another reason this area is proving so challenging.
We won’t lie to you pilots, the Deathmatches you will be taking part in during this event will test you to your limits, and beyond.
Good luck out there!
CCP 20th Anniversary Double XP Weekend

Have a great weekend and fly safe!
All Heavies to Assemble at Wormhole 71A/302-80LQ5: Situation Critical.
We have a major situation developing in the Bleak Lands around planet Kamela VIII.
A new wormhole has opened up; reports from pilots that have made it back outline uniquely hazardous conditions.
On the other side of the conduit, the Valkyrie have been experiencing a grotesquely distorted version of the area we normally refer to as the Cathedral.
The twisted environment in itself presents problems, even for the most adept pilots, but the area’s dangers go far beyond that.
All fighter and support class ships have been rendered inoperable in the wormhole’s hostile conditions, meaning only our heavy pilots are able to investigate the phenomenon. Even then, we are limited only to the following craft:
Rhino
Storm
Maelstrom
Goliath
Compounding the problem is the fact that the area has been seeded with a huge number of deadly mines.
Under any other circumstances, we would advise that this wormhole be declared a no-fly zone, but unfortunately the Schism are already attempting to exploit the event, so we need you to assemble there and attempt to capture three strategic control points.
Good luck out there!
Video Tutorial: Get to Know the Solitude Map
https://youtu.be/jyTFce_LcVw
Since appearing as part of the recent major free Valkyrie update Groundrush, the all-new planet-based Solitude map has proven extremely popular with our pilots.
If you’ve only just joined the ranks of the Valkyrie and have yet to try out this exhilarating yet extremely hazardous environment, we’re here to help you hit the ground (hopefully not literally) running.
Over the course of the video tutorial (below), you will learn how to handle all aspects of the map. There are trenches on the planet’s surface, perfect for escaping missile locks. The Schism-run, former Minmatar base itself offers plenty of cover and complex structures. In addition, the subterranean tunnels provide a uniquely claustrophobic arena where only the most skilled pilots will prevail.
Solitude is a map that offers something for pilots of every stripe, so study the video, then get yourself planetside to enjoy everything it has to offer.
You might also be well advised to check out our recent play guides that offer tips on mastering the Solitude map when piloting fighter, heavy and support ships.
Fly safe, and try not to crash and burn… by which we mean try not to crash and freeze. It’s a bit chilly out there.
This weekend's Wormhole event tests evasive skills to the limit.
All Valkyrie pilots are ordered to immediately assemble at planet Otakoo XI in the Amarr-controlled Genesis region.
A highly volatile wormhole (00B/285-55JR5) has opened up in the area known as Crossroads. This is not an unprecedented event. We have seen something similar before and we are assigning this corrupted alternate space the codename "Goldenroad".
There are several things to bear in mind on passing through the conduit. First, conditions in Goldenroad are nothing short of bizarre. Quite apart from the hazy, dusty environment itself, the wormhole is also adversely affecting our weaponry. The effectiveness of missiles has been greatly enhanced, which on the surface would seem like a good thing, but it also holds true of the enemy’s missiles. Your evasive skills are going to be tested to the limit.
In addition, our fleet of heavy and support craft have been rendered inoperable, so you will be engaging the Schism in a Deathmatch with only the Wraith and the Sentry at your disposal. These are extremely capable ships, but do not underestimate the ferocity of the battles you will be engaging in here.
You have only 72 hours to nullify the Schism threat before the wormhole collapses. Time is of the essence.
