Friday Progress Report 447

We are now starting work on the 0.79 version, the crop perk rework will change the progression to make it a lot more consistent and remove the inventory clutter from having hundreds of seed stacks.[/p][p][/p][p][img src="https://clan.akamai.steamstatic.com/images/36540476/cac56e1fa0e17f6c7626eb321734b22ac4debc98.png"][/p][p][/p][p]The collections UI wll have a tab for allocating traits to each crop you know, these traits will automatically affect every seed of that type, so the seed stacks will only have star numbers from 0 to 5, this means the maximum amount of stacks for each seed is now 6, and there will be no advantage for keeping low star stacks, so technically you only need to keep the highest star stack.[/p][p][/p][p]Then we will add the survival elements like temperature, weather and food spoiling, and lastly we will finish the year leaving early access after expanding the map and improving the NPCs a bit.[/p][p][/p][p]We also have plans to add new characters.[/p]

Daily Quests

Merry Christmas. Daily Quests update is out.


Features:
Implemented Daily Quests
When you complete the Tutorial, you can now choose between Daily Quest access or 5% better prices in all shops.

Changes:
The close button on the tutorial now changes to Next Page if there are more tutorial pages.

Bugfixes:
Fixed being able to harvest NPC crops... again.
Removed the custom character room door because NPCs could get into even when locked.
Fixed font scaling on some UI.
Added the Complete Tutorial achievement back

[p]Daily Quests are 75% done, yet again something that sounds simple was more complicated to implement than expected. [/p][p][/p][p][img src="https://clan.akamai.steamstatic.com/images/36540476/1eec12279299032d54b158b7b25af48d9502c96a.png"][/p][p][/p][p]About half of the quests are implemented, so far the quests will pop up automatically every day and the NPCs will not pick up their own quests on the board, we are going to finish all these features later this month. Also they are unlocked automatically on this beta build for testing, later on they will only be available after the tutorial (you will be given an option to an alternative for another permanent boost instead of access to quests).[/p][p]You are still limited to 3 quests per day.[/p][p]The beta should be up any moment.[/p]

[p]We haven't made much progress this week due to urgent house maintenance stuff, we are now back home and will resume development.[/p][p][/p][p]There should have a beta release with the daily quests by next week.[/p][p][/p][p]Sorry for the short report.[/p]

Friday Progress Report 425 - Tree Update done!

The Tree Update is done!

If you haven't played Edengrall in the last 2 months here the new stuff you can find ingame:[/p][p][/p][p]There are now 15 wild trees, plus two special trees.[/p][p]Non-fruit Trees: Birch, Lightwood and Darkoak[/p][p]Fruit Trees: Apple, Mango, Pear, Lime, Lemon, Orange, Peach, Olives, Avocado, Cherry, Fig and Almonds[/p][p][img src="https://clan.akamai.steamstatic.com/images/36540476/6613589994385890622b687bf9439241f72bfdb3.png"][/p][p]Bushes: There are 3 new types of bush that flower during spring, they do not have edible fruits, but their flowers are edible![/p][p][img src="https://clan.akamai.steamstatic.com/images/36540476/56b9e1b49e0886d1b2812d2badd7a1df8babdf0b.png"][/p][p]Wisdom Trees are an alchemically created variant of the Apples, they only grow inside Edengrall and cannot be cut down.[/p][p][img src="https://clan.akamai.steamstatic.com/images/36540476/3623ebe3a11132449cef34c47ee56351bbce2efb.png"][TAG-40][/p][p]Ladrasil Trees are huge magical trees attuned to the seasons, their leaf colors and shapes change as the seasons pass, Fairies are attracted to these trees.[/p][p][/p][p]Tree Features:[/p][p]Dynamic Spawning: Each tree has a prefered enviroment, they slowly populate if there is space, if you are missing one specific fruit tree in your world cut some more common trees to open space and you will eventually see the missing trees grow.[/p][p]Slow growth: Trees grow slightly every day until they reach the adult stage, no sudden changes from today to tomorrow.[/p][p]Realistic collision: Trunks and branches have collision and you can climb on them.[/p][p]Leaf colors: Each tree has a different coloration for each season, the change is gradual, with slightly differences each day.[/p][p]Leaf loss on winter: Most trees slowly lose their leaves during the peak of winter and regain them by spring.[/p][p]Flowering and Fruiting: Each Fruit tree has their own fruiting season and the presence of flowers is a good indicator you are a few weeks from some tasty fruit.[/p][p]Mushrooms and Vines: Parasite flora grows on tree trunks, most of them are edible.[/p][p]Critters: Many critters live on trees, keep an eye out for bugs and lizards on trunks and branches as well as beehives.[/p][p]Planting: Adult trees drop saplings that you can plant yourself, trees planted by the player will never die from old age. There is no limit to the amount of trees you can plant.[/p][p]Tree cutting: All trees other than Wisdom Trees and Ladrasils can be cut down, most fruit trees give soft wood, if you want hard wood aim for Darkoak. Make sure to dig out the stumps or they will block the growth of new trees.[/p][p]Lumberaxe: No more placeholder gathering, want wood? Chop down a tree! The charge attack can be used to cut several trees in an circular area.[/p][p][/p][p]There are also other smaller features that we have added while working on this update:[/p][p][/p][p]Gems: Mining and Scavenging can now give you gemstones, right now they can be sold to Catarina for extra money, but one day we will add more uses to them.[/p][p]Better Tool Feedback: Better particles, sounds and a little bar that fills up when watering tiles.[/p][p]Tokay Gecko: A new critter that can only be found on tree trunks (during night)[/p][p]Spooky Bamboo Forest: The biome is now permanently covered in mist[/p][p][/p][p]What is next? We are now reviewing the roadmap, there will be a big update on our plans next week, we are changing a lot and we might even leave Early Access before the planned date.[/p]

Hitting a tree with the axe or sickle will scare away critters

Crystal Scorpions, Snails and Trouts can be butchered to get mana crystals

Adjusted when Miralarium flowers can be harvested to match better the bush graphics

Critters on trees now only correctly spawn in the correct times of day

[p][/p][p]The sickle charge attack will now harvest all available harvestables in a tree if you hit the tree trunk with the slash, so you can get all fruit from a tree without having to hunt down hidden fruit within the leaves.[/p][p][/p][p][img src="https://clan.akamai.steamstatic.com/images/36540476/58eaf5e1fea234ae4e92913e8caf5f1892a48b0c.png"][/p][p]The sickle, lumberaxe, pickaxe, and hoe how have new particle effects and sounds to improve the tool use feedback[/p][p][img src="https://clan.akamai.steamstatic.com/images/36540476/429c5e7d34a4e3617dba9826fe3241eec2293486.png"][/p][p]We are reviewing a few recipes, the one getting a big overhaul is the Syrup recipe, it will no longer require sugar or starch, these are now optional and it can be made entirely out of juice or the new Birch sap, it will also use the dry food algorithm, reducing the water content of the ingredients to increase their taste and nutrient concentration. The dry food algorithm was a bit bugged too (was increasing tastes way more than it should), so we fixed it.[/p][p]Also we are removing the generic sap item from the trees, instead of a generic crafting mateiral saps will be edible when possible, right now only Birch will give edible sap, later on there will be Maple for sweet goodness and Pine for non-edible, but useful resin, if you already have taken down trees and collected sap in your save just sell it to NPCs, it won't have any uses and the item will be deleted from the game later.[/p][p]There will be more small fixes and changes, the update should drop in 2 or 3 days.[/p]
