We couldn't work on the game much this week, I managed to make these medal models to find as artifacts (yes they are Team Fortress 2 references), but not much else, we will probably be able to start implementing something next week since we are almost done with the other job tasks for the month.
This has been my most pathetic report so far, sorry for the lack of content.
Friday Progress Report 381
We have released the first part of the museum update this week, but the next part unfortunately will take some time because we have a lot of piled up work from the other job to deal with, so progress on the following 2 or 3 weeks will be very slow.
The next feature will be digging and artifacts, we will introduce the shovel, you will be able to use it similar to the bug net, but for hidden treasure instead of critters, just keep in mind digging won't modify the terrain, due to technical limitations.
Every few days a hidden treasure will appear in the world, and the shovel right click will let you search for it, similar to how the bug net highlights critters, once you get to the right spot you can dig, there will be many different possible items: loose coins, truffles, subterranean critters like worms and unique treasures that you will be able to display in the museum for more discounts in the debt.
After 1 ingame year the unique treasures will start to spawn again and you will be able to get a second copy to decorate your home with.
Museum part 1
Features: You can now speak to Frederick to unlock the museum exhibits and habitats Placing critters and fish in the museum habitats now grants a discount to your debt if playing survival The 7 aquariums in the basement are now interactable The 3 terrariums in the base level are now interactable Added 3 sizes of buildable aquariums for decoration
Added Akutan, a wild forageable Added Vineberries, a wild foregeable
Friday Progress Report 380
We are almost done with the first part of the museum update: the aquariums and terrariums. To unlock them you will need to talk to Frederick, in exchange of bringing unique species for him to study he will ask Reiko to lower your weekly debt (if playing on surivival mode). Each habitat has a biome theme and only accepts one creature of each species, you get 1% debt reduction for each unique creature placed on any aquarium or terrarium (duplicates do not count) or 2% if the creature is shimmering. This update will also bring buildable aquariums, unlike the museum ones these have no limitations for species and you can put any fish you want in each aquarium as long as they fit (large fish will require the large aquarium) But they are only cosmetic and do not affect any gameplay mechanic at least for now.
Friday Progress Report 379
We have started the work on the Aquariums, players will be able to place fish in the museum in exchange for a discount on the weekly debt if playing survival. Filling the museum on sandbox don't do much for now, but NPCs will be able to visit the museum and admire the expositions after the NPC AI overhaul.
Each fish/critter placed will lower the debt by 1%, 2% if it is shimmering, but it only counts different species. The reduction stacks multiplicatively, so if you could get 100 fish/critters for 1% reduction each the total reduction would be 63.4% (1-(0.99^100)) instead of 100%.
We are also adding two more forageable plants, one grows during the winter on beaches, and the other will grow on cliffs during spring/summer.
There are still plenty to do before the aquariums and terrariums are fully functional, so this update might take two more weeks.
Friday Progress Report 378
We have been busy with the other work this week, there was an update this wednesday with a tiny little bit of new content and a few bugfixes.
Look for Phantom Mint bushes in the cliffs during winter, it is a very sweet flower and sugar can be made from it. As for the new critter Frederick will tell you about it during winter or early spring.
After this weekend we should get some time to focus on Edengrall and start implementing the aquariums.
Sorry for the short report.
V0.71.5.0
Features: Added Phantom Mint wild flower, it grows on cliffs during winter Added a new rare critter, Frederick can tell you about it
Changes: Changed how the game manages Guarapo and Sugar inherited tags
Bugfixes: Fixed an issue where the player character would slide down slopes very slowly Fixed an where the fishing song kept playing if you slid into the water during fishing Fixed an issue with the amount picker for the cooking window in specific circunstances
Friday Progress Report 377
All critters and fish now have trivia tips, they are spread out through the NPCs, so speak to them now and then to get some knowledge. Keep in mind some NPCs like Meru and Elly will only start giving trivia when they are more comfortable with you, also NPCs will only give trivia on critters and fish that are in season, so talk to them every few days to make sure you won't miss on the spawn window for something you don't have yet.
Once you gain knowledge on a critter or fish you haven't caught yet, you will get the name, description and spawn locations on the collections window. To unlock the icons you have to actually catch them.
The next updates will be related to the museum and later map expansion, as it was decided by the poll in the discord, we will start by allowing the player to place fish in the aquariums in the basement, doing so will lower your debt when playing in Survival Mode.
The library will be filled with books, most of them will just give you a bit of skill experience and knowledge on critters/fish that are out of season, but actual books will also be present.
After the NPC AI overhaul they will take note on your museum contributions, Until then their reactions will be very limited.
Changelog
Features Improved the Critter/Fish information section on the collections menu by adding name, description, icons and rarity information. Added Critter trivia knowledge to the NPCs.
Bugfixes Fixed an issue with closing and opening the cooking window and other menus.
Friday Progress Report 376
We are halfway through finishing the tips system by adding trivia/tips for all critters. We are also going to improve the collections screen a bit too by adding large icons and the description for the selected critter or fish. Meru, Yui and Tiana talk very little about fish, but they will have a lot of critter trivia.
The update should be ready by next friday. There isn't much more to report this week, sorry for the slow progress.
We want to go back to the fairy after the tips. But we could maybe implement the museum terrarium and aquariums instead, what would you like to see in the following updates?
