We have two huge features this release which were requested a lot by our community: Joystick support and support for several languages. Read below for a more in detail update.
Main features:
* Joystick support (experimental)
- Still experimental, since we feel this still has to be tuned. Please test it and let us know your ideas on how to improve this further.
- Default bindings for Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas included
- For other joysticks keybinds can be set in the options menu. If you like to get the keybinds for your Joystick added by default, please contact us on the Discord.
* Localisation support
- Added support for French language (see options menu)
- Polish, Russian and Dutch translations are in progress
Improvements:
* Improvement to sounds (engine and rocket trail make less noise, while flares are louder)
* Improved 3rd person camera, it now moves more smooth.
* On the scoreboard spaceship names are now displayed instead of "fighter 1" etc.
* Menu now scales better (was required for localization support). There is still a lot to be done here (we are redesigning the UI)
- Bot strength increased
- And a lot of small other things
Bugfixes:
* Fixed an issue for certain maps where other players were initially not visible and became visible after first respawn.
* Fixed a bug with the support ship: lasers would sometimes bounce seemingly randomly when shooting.
* Chat now properly scrolls down in case multiline text is added.
* Fixed hosting of Free For All Matches
* Negative count when flying outside of the level boundaries is now fixed
* Bots no longer die at the end of a match
* And a lot of small other things
I would like to give a huge shoutout to all the people from the community that helped us for this release: For instance with the French translations (Colonel Mustard) and Extensive bugreports from a lot of people via the Discord Community (they keep us very busy :))
The community is currently working hard on further improvements of translations (Russian by mrlol and Polish by Blu') and a complete redesign of the UI (by CaptainLel). Next to those we are discussing a redesign of our current game model with a large group of people. Get in touch with the developers and the community by joining our official Discord Server
Hello there,
The game is really starting to become more and more popular and we are establishing a fine community. I got a lot of questions about how people can get in personal contact with me or how to contribute to the game. In order to keep in contact and establish a great community together I have created a Discord Server.
Here we people talking about creating new 3D models, Compositing Music, Translating the game for Localization, Filling bug reports and suggest new features and of course have fun an play together!
So if you want to get in casual contact with the developers (Jacob and me), get in touch with the community, contribute or whatever, feel free to join our Discord channel.

Just overhauled the controls
Hi all,
Thank you all for your continuous feedback. I tried to listen to it as much as possible and just released a massive update on the controls. For instance, the mouse now has drag in it and does not instantly stop.
Also, all spaceships are being upgraded with improved rotation speeds and maneuverability.
This update also includes some bug fixes here and their like a bug wherein configurations could not be properly selected.
Please let me know what you think.
Greetings,
Eric
PS. Also created a Discord server: https://discord.gg/qWkaTGQ
Evolvation 2.1 launched
Hi guys,
I just updated Evolvation to version 2.1.
I got a lot of request to make the game 60FPS, so I did. I hope you guys enjoy it.
Furthermore we solved a lot of bugs like issue with map loading and crashes during map switching. These are fixed now.
We also encountered focus issues with the mouse. As we tested and community confirmed, these are all solved.
Besides that I upgraded the servers a bit so we are able to handle more requests. It is however still possible to encounter issues due to overload.
Hope this makes you guys happy!
I am going continue to work on multiple things like better controls and movement, more lightning, Linux support and more!
With the kindest regards,
Eric
Thank you
Hi there supporters,
My name is Eric Ruts. Together with a good friend I have created a game called Evolvation. During this exciting, but also exhausting two year development period, we finally launched the game out of early access. This is when we started to realize that the gaming market is undergoing an "indiepocalypse". There was sadly no way that the game would get anything near the attention and the amount of required players for a successful multiplayer game.
This was a major down set for us since our only goal was to let people enjoy themselves by playing a fun multiplayer to play with friends. Since my motivation is purely to create a game which is fun to play with friends I decided to not monetize the game by introducing game-destroying features like pay-to-win concepts. This however did not work since I am not able to reach a large audience.
The large part of our reviews are really positive and rewarding! Nearly all the negative reviews are about not having enough players online (and about how difficult the game is for noobs, haha). What a shame.
I really wanted the game to succeed so I asked my friend Jacob if he wanted to help me out with rebranding the game. So we worked hard to optimize the servers, reducing the game from 16gb to a quarter of that, testing new controls etc. We wanted to show this on the gamecon Firstlook to test out the Evolvation 2.0.
I once tried to boost the game by giving away 10.000 copies on SteamGifts. We chose to do this since we prioritize players having fun with our game instead of monetizing on it. We are just hobbyists. However, instead of playing most people used the keys for other purposes. I admit that I wanted to start our rebrand of the game with a clean slate so I made the stupid mistake to revoke the unredeemed keys and accidentally got the redeemed keys revoked to. I was spammed with hateful comments, negative reviews and accused of things like being “money hungry apes” and “scammer developers”. In minutes reddits and steamgifts forums exploded with these kind of things and I did not now what to do since it was never my intention to hurt anybody. I choked up and saw our work being destroyed in a matter of minutes… However, as soon I started to explain things and showed I wanted to do everything I possibly could I also got support of a lot of people which appreciated my honesty above all. Thank you very much for your support in this.
However, after multiple tries Steam did not provide me with new keys to resupply or help to release the pressure. So what to do? I already had chosen that I find it more important that people enjoy the game than to monetize it. So to solve the problem I made the decision to make the game completely free with the knowledge that I would not be able to monetize. So I contacted Steam to make this happen for me and they came through.
With all the negativity I encountered and have to deal with I really choked up and it made me feel very sad. However, I never expected that because of my honesty I also got a lot of positive feedback of you guys! That really made my day and am very grateful for that. And want to give you guys my deepest and heartfelt: “Thank you”. You guys make me believe again and encourage me to continue making games.
Feel free to try the game! But remember, the game is ridiculously difficult!
Spread the word and enjoy!
With the kindest regards,
Eric Ruts

PS. I got a lot of requests to make a Patreon or another method to support us. I do not want to come over as a "money hungry ape" but to be honest all support is welcome. So I’ve created a PayPal button, it is the fastest thing I could come up with. So if you like the game, please consider supporting us. I am still paying server cost etc. With the money we would be able to improve the game, or even give us the possibility to continue in the gaming business. Thank you in advance!

Servers overloaded, cannot loggin or select spaceships
Hi there,
Concurrent logins are exploding!:Explosion_Blast:
My server is not made for 180k people logging in at the same time so the servers are overloaded. You will encounter issues like not be able to log in (or long login times). And if you are logged in you probably cannot see any spaceships since they are loaded from the datebase.
I am sorry for the inconvience. In the meantime we are upgrading the servers but we cannot act in a matter of hours. We hope this is fixed within 24 hours! I also expect a lot less concurrent logins at that time. I do not have the money (or receiving any) to setup a server which is able to process 180k concurrent requests. So bear with me and try the game in a couple of days :)
Hope to see you soon in game.
With the kindest regards,
Eric
Evolvation 2.0 Launched
Dear Aliens,
How’s space?
It was time for a rebrand of Evolvation. I have just updated Evolvation to version 2.0. With this version I would like to give Evolvation a new start!
I am proud to say that with 2.0 released, the game has gained a performance increase of over 40%, package size is reduced by 200% and nearly all known bugs are fixed.
The Rebrand of Evolvation also means that I am producing new content! For instance, I have planned to release two new maps, a new gamemode, Linux support and more!
To celebrate this new release, I am giving the game away for free for the upcoming week. I hope you like it!
Hope to see you floating by soon,
Eric Ruts
PS. A lot of reviews state that the game is good, but that not many players are online. I have developed this game together with one friend and invested nearly all our savings in this game. There is sadly no way that we have the capacity to get near the attention or players that is required for a multiplayer game, unlike the major publishers. With the current course of actions I hope to establish a player base so we are able to play together, which is the intend of this game. We can only do this together! So all help is appreciated.
Game made temporarily free
Update:
17:56 GMT 8 October:
Hi there Pilots,
I've had contact with Steam and we decided to make the game temporarily free of now regarding the accidental key ban. So you are able to add it to your library. Hopes this helps you guys out and solves the issue. I am losing big time here, but I did this so the issue is being solved. I am sorry for the inconvenience. Feel free to add the game to your library! Hope to see you guys in game soon!
Greetings,
Eric

Accidental revokes keys explanation, please view my updates here:
Note: Latest update last
First update after couple of minutes after accidental revoke:
Hi there!
The developer here. I am trying to rebrand the game, have a lot of updates ready etc. But a lot of games are being sold illegally. So i just tried the "ban keys options" but it was a mistake that also some activated keys got banned (Just happened). I want to make it up to you guys. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix it?
Honest mistake,
Eric

Update 10 minutes later:
- I have setup the mail: steamgiftskey@hyperreuts.com where you are able to request a key.
- I have asked Valve for new keys
-- I have asked Valve to undo the ban
- I will contact SG admin if they are able to sent new keys to the winners list,
-- Already in contact with SG
I have developed this game together with one friend and invested nearly all our savings in this game. There is sadly no way that we have the capacity to get near the attention or players that is required for a multiplayer game, unlike the major publishers. With the new updates coming I hope to establish a player base so we are able to play together, which is the intend of the game.
That is also why I did give away 10.000 keys. In order to get a playerbase or people who would love to help an indie to reach some audience and just develop a fun game. It was very sad to see that a major amount was sold illegally. This sucked since our total revenue of our game in all time was never even larger than 100 dollars (Excluding taxes and cuts).
However, it a a quite good game besides there is no player base. That is why I am trying to re-brand the game. The first course of action was to ban the unused games which are being sold illegally. This actually had led to this forum in a couple of seconds. I am deeply sorry that I made a honest mistake and want to fix it immediately. I love the irony that nobody plays the game, however the moment I made a mistake I reach an audience bigger than I have ever got. Thank you all for responding this fast! This gives me the strength to develop further and make even more games, even though I make mistakes.
Love,
Eric

Update 19:45 GMT 30 September 2018:
Done everything I can for now:
- Contacted Valve and SG about the mistake of the ban of the keys
- I am waiting for a response for a fix. I asked steam to un-ban, made sure that SG knows that it was not your fault and you get un-banned
- In the meantime I work on redundant solves (if needed) such as asking Steam for keys to re-give and asking SG to re-give them
----
Update 04:13 GMT 1 October 2018:
- Valve denied my request of new keys without explanation. Requested again with better explanation...
- Evolvation is whitelisted on SG, this should solve the ban i guess?
---
Update 19:05 GMT 1 October 2018:
- Still waiting on response of Steam. Request are being denied without explanation. I even requested to make the game completely free for a week so the problem can be solved. I am just an indie which is trying hard. In the mean time my company is getting ruined by getting negative reviews, hateful comments, and bad publicity by pressing (non intentionally) on a single button. I have created a lot new content and made a new marketing strategy for the game to start a new campaign in which I really believe it would work and which I communicated with Steam. It's a pity that the game and my company (and myself) is now being destroyed before I can even try. I doing everything I can.
Update 15:55 GMT 2 October 2018:
- In bellevue washington it is nearly 9 o clock (steam HQ). I hope they answer soon on all my requests.
Update: 21:54 GMT 2 October 2018:
- Steam just denied my keys again for redistribution
- I've asked them again to if they are not going to give the keys, that they can make the game for free for the upcoming period so everyone can add it to their library if they want.
Update 19:38 GMT 3 October 2018:
- Waiting on update from Steam.
Update: 8:00 GMT 4 October:
- Update from steam, not possible to undo the ban (as expected) but they are going to help explore other solutions.
Update: 11:17 GMT 5 October:
- Waiting on response of Steam, I expect an answer and solution soon (hope today).
- I am currently setting op my booth at the GameCon Firstlook, hope to have a great weekend and promote the new Evolvation
Update: 20:29 GMT 6 October:
Hi there,
I want to resupply everyone with new keys. But unfortunately, it seems that this is not going to happen since Valve denies the key request. When I did giveaway these 10.000 copies, Steam had a different policy for issuing keys. It now seems that they want to restrict supplying keys. https://www.polygon.com/2017/8/18/16167462/valve-steam-keys-limiting-developers
This is very annoying for me and for you. But within these limits I am trying to find a solution. And the fairest thing I can come up with is making the game temporarily free so people are able to add it to their library. so I've suggested this to Steam.
I am currently (again) waiting on a response of Steam. They are very slow in responding, and if responding, it is mostly not specific. I have now specifically requested to make the game temporarily free the next weekend so you are able to add the game to your library.
Hope this helps you. I am doing everything I can within (and out of) the limits and boundaries given to me.
With the kindest regards,
Eric

Hi there pilots!:Spaceship_Ride:
The official release of Evolvation is finally there! With a team of just two people we wanted to bring you a great multiplayer experience in the form of a space shooter where you can fly your own ship. We got to talk to a lot of people from the community here on steam, visitors of the FirstLook festival and many others during the past months. So far it has been a great privilege to be able to do this and we hope you enjoyed it in the meantime!
The last couple of months have been quite intensive for the two of us, since we wanted the final release to be great! We worked hard on some of the latest features of the game and fixed all reported bugs. This release will add some additional features to the game that have been highly requested by our community.
We have added 133 Achievements to the game for you to unlock! Enough playtime to enjoy yourselves! Besides these we now keep a lot of stats on every player in Evolvation, which has resulted in a lot of leaderboard data! We currently have 83 Leaderboard stats available for you to compare yourself against other players in Evolvation. All stats are available on a weekly and all-time basis. These are stats such as: kills, deaths, assists, kills with a laser, deaths by a blackhole, xp gained and many more!

Ofcourse, since this game is developed by only a two man team, bugs can still be present. If you encounter any problems, please do not hesitate cntacting us in any way you please. You can add us as friends and chat with us, post on the community hub or any other channel you prefer! We really want to deliver the best experience of Evolvation and are open for improvements and discussion.
This is the official release of Evolvation, but that does not mean we will stop developing. We already have some new content in development such as new maps!
