Patchnotes v1.0 - Oculus Support, New levels, Leaving Early Access

Oh goody, it's here!

As always be sure to have auto updates on, and if it's not updating just close and reopen Steam to download the latest patch.

Oculus Rift

  • We've been testing the game thoroughly and the answer is clear; Eye in the Sky finally is officially playable with the Oculus Rift + Touch!

    • Press the joystick to use your pointers

General improvements

  • Small story bits are implemented to make the world a little more alive

Level changes

An Eye in the future #3 - Release imminent

Greetings humans! It has been a while but we're nearly there.

It's already night time here in the Netherlands, but we're working hard to prep for release! The next big patch should drop within a week! We've crunched the numbers and there is a 99% chance Eye in the Sky's next big patch drops, well, within 24 hours from now!

This next big patch will bring two new levels, a heap of optimization and bugfixes, and we've retouched some of the levels to make sure they feel slightly more balanced out for both the VR and PC their gameplay.

We're also testing the game with Oculus Rift as we speak! There's still some things to iron out (cool new controller models are being created as I type this specially for the Rift Touch controllers!) but we're pretty sure official Rift support through SteamVR is making the cut tomorrow.

Keep an eye out for the patchnotes following soon, and we'll talk more about Eye in the Sky in the future!

~The Vinlia Games team

EDIT: Obviously we should've thought of the possible release timeslots, as Steam doesn't check releases during the weekend. Fear not, EITS is still due this week!

An Eye in the future #2 - full release planning and price reduction

Hey everyone. It has been a while since we've posted an update, and while that was partly due to summer holidays, there's also been happening a lot behind the scenes which we felt obliged to update you on.

While it has certainly been enjoyable to work on the Eye in the Sky project, it was very hard to sell this project to the public. You see, VR is already a small market, and then to aim for a niche market within a niche market (the local co-op department) was both a daring and perhaps not the smartest thing to do if part of our group expected to gain atleast enough profit to pay the rent.
With already one person in our team having a fulltime job and the rest finding and applying for new jobs, Eye in the Sky got less and less attention as we simply struggled to find the time.

We are still committed to finish the Eye in the Sky content we're currently working on, but as we're running short on development time we have to make some changes to our planning.

We are going to reduce the price to 9,99,- eur/USD (price may vary in your currency) to reflect upon the changes of the final product we intend to ship. While we are not capable of reverting the purchases since our early access release, we implore potential buyers to wait till the new price goes live, and we totally understand if you want to refund purchases made in the last few weeks to rebuy for a lower price.
We are really thankful for everyone who has backed us since we went live on Steam, and we're sad we cannot deliver the quantity we wanted.

There will be a patch in the coming weeks which contains a lot of fixes, two levels - including the first level of the Inner City. We will also evaluate and - if everything works - move out of early access. Going forward, Eye in the Sky will effectively become a one man hobby project.

There's still a couple more levels in the works for Inner City, but these may or may not be patched in at a later date, when we simply have the time to do so (Don't worry, there won't be DLC).
The same goes for story content. While the tutorial should give you a bit of an idea why two odd robots decide to solve puzzles together, there probably won't be added a lot more.

Fear not, Eye in the Sky still has plenty of gameplay to offer and we can't wait to see you play around with lasers (and accidentily killing off your little robot friend every now and then, we won't judge)!

An Eye in the future #1

As we aproach the two month mark of our early access release we felt it was time to share our thoughts with you on what we're planning for Eye in the Sky.

Behold! The Inner City. A huge contrast compared to the Junkyard. This is just a glimpse of some of the eye candy we're going to offer you in the next set of levels!

What makes every puzzle game better? Lasers. You're going to explore a high-tech facility with lasers, touch screens and a bunch of the puzzle elements you've already encountered! The Inner City is a direct gameplay and story follow up on the levels that are already in the game.

We're also planning to implement more story content. The "how and why" the Light and Eye team up to solve puzzles and work their way into the robot city will unfold in a "tutorial" level.

While the new batch of content is still in development, we hope this little sneakpeak will help ease the wait!

We have really enjoyed your enthusiasm so far! Whether it be the gameplay video's on youtube, the approval of your reviews or feedback on the discussion board, we - the VinLia Games team - want to thank you for your support!

Patchnotes Eye in the Sky v0.2.4

Hey all. Here's a quick patch trying to get some stability in before summer gets too crazy!

General

  • Disclaimer adjusted to automatically dissapear when the loading of the game is complete
  • "Restart Level" should now properly restart a level even if the game failed to load the level the first time

Single Player

  • Single Player has been removed

We're sorry to announce single player is being shelved. This was originally put in to see what people would think of at least having the oppertunity to play Eye in the Sky when none of their friends were around.

However, these singleplayer levels lacked polish and the gameplay we so carefully designed for 2 players wasn't compelling enough in a single player setting in our eyes.

We quickly noticed the majority of people did not enjoy these levels and even worse, some lost appetite to try out co-op - which is what we intended as the main game content from the start.

With feedback clearly showing people really enjoy playing co-operatively with their friends and family we realised it was best to keep working on making co-op as amazing as it can be and build more levels for that - which in turn meant singleplayer would never get enough attention to shine.

We hope you can accept our decision as we try to bring you even more co-op levels soon!

Patchnotes Eye in the Sky v0.2.3 - QoL

We're not sitting still, development on the next chapter of levels has started and as always we're squashing bugs left and right! Here's an overview.
As always be sure to have auto-update on, or you'll have to start the download manually.

General
  • Items grabbed by the Light no longer teleport with it upon dieing and respawning
  • Starting a new co-op savefile no longer clears your singleplayer progress
  • No longer have to deal with Unity's screen settings before booting the game
  • Cranks no longer jitter when rotating them to their maximum rotation

Menu
  • Regrouped a lot of settings
  • Resolution settings are now available
  • Sliders now show a percentage
  • Input manager for your key rebinding convenience!
  • All graphical enhancements (like bloom and motion blur) should now work properly
  • Loading screens between levels with clearer hints
