CANADA SHOWCASES F1® 2020 SPLIT-SCREEN AHEAD OF THE FINAL VIRTUAL GRAND PRIX
The final Virtual Grand Prix is here, and we’re marking the occasion with something special. Today, we’re focusing on F1® 2020’s new split-screen mode by showing off a three-lap race from Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, featuring Valtteri Bottas’ Mercedes and Lance Stroll’s Racing Point.
The Canadian Grand Prix has been a staple since the late ‘60s, and the race in Montreal has been a regular occurrence in the F1® calendar since the late ‘70s. With well-known features such as that last chicane by the Wall of Champions, and of course, groundhogs (which commentator Anthony Davidson will, unfortunately, know all about), the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is a firm fan favourite.
For more social play with your mates (or, as we prefer: rivals) two-player split-screen makes a welcome return to F1® 2020. We’ve captured this in-game, and the race doesn’t just show off split-screen, but also shows several corner adjustments and aesthetic changes made to the Montreal track.

The live broadcast gets underway at 5pm BST, with the F1® Esports Pro Exhibition race, before the Virtual Grand Prix starts at 6pm BST.

Join us for this weekend's Virtual Grand Prix on Baku City Circuit
We're heading to Baku City Circuit for this weekend's Virtual Grand Prix racing action!
Ahead of this weekend's racing, we've released a hot lap in F1® 2020, which you can check out here.
Baku City Circuit first landed on the F1® calendar in 2016, and since then, it's become synonymous with tight races and lots of racing action. Starting with a tight left turn, THAT corner at the castle, and one of the longest straights on the F1® calendar (but now not the longest - hi, Hanoi Street Circuit), Baku City Circuit is definitely a memorable circuit.
This is ahead of this weekend’s Virtual Grand Prix, where F1® drivers Sergio Perez and Pierre Gasly will make their Virtual Grand Prix debuts on F1® 2019. Virtual Grand Prix veterans Charles Leclerc, Alex Albon, Nicholas Latifi, Antonio Giovinazzi, and – fresh from his back-to-back victories at Monaco and Spain – George Russell, make their return this Sunday.
That’s not all! Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte will be taking to Baku’s twisting streets, as will AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, rally biker Matthias Walkner, and Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois - his fourth Virtual Grand Prix appearance.
You’ll not want to miss it. The racing action gets underway on Sunday 7th June from 5pm BST, with the F1® Esports Pro Exhibition race, before the Virtual Grand Prix starts at 6pm BST.
Watch on the official Formula 1 YouTube, Twitch, the Formula1game Facebook page and Weibo, alongside several international broadcast partners.

These fantastic cars are:
* 1991: Jordan 191 – This is the car that launched Michael's career. Emerald green, and very distinctive. Wildly considered one of the most beautiful F1® cars ever. (Seriously, find us a better looking F1® car. We’ll wait).
* 1994: Benetton B194 – This is the car in which Michael’s won his first World Championship, winning an impressive six of the first seven races of the season.
* 1995: Benetton B195 – This was such an incredible car, bringing Michael his second championship, and giving Benetton its first, and only, constructors’ title
* 2000: Ferrari F1-2000 – The car that brought the dream to life. The one in which Michael scored his first driver’s title with Ferrari, with a phenomenal 10 pole positions and 10 race victories.
It’s not just these amazing cars that are included in the Deluxe Schumacher Edition, you’ll also get three days early access, and exclusive themed car liveries and driver customisation items, including a unique podium celebration.

We’ve updated it, adding a #1 to the nosecone and embossing his name on the headrest.

It’s the one you’ve all been waiting for! Designed by the legendary circuit architects Tilke, the 5.613 km long Hanoi Circuit takes inspiration from iconic tracks such as Suzuka, Monaco and Nürburgring. Not only that, but it’s designed to encourage plenty of overtaking and racing action, and we can’t wait to get on it virtually.
“We’re always excited to create new experiences for our players. Hanoi Circuit delivers both thrills and challenges, set against the backdrop of the stunning city skyline,” said Lee Mather, F1® Franchise Game Director here at Codies. “Hanoi Circuit is an adrenaline rush with high speeds, long straights and heavy braking zones, but it will punish anyone who doesn’t respect the walled sections.”
“Hanoi Circuit offers a unique city circuit layout with several overtaking possibilities and high-speed corner combinations,” said Dr, Carsten Tilke, Managing Director and Partner at Tilke GmbH & Co. KG. “Codemasters has done a great job recreating Hanoi Circuit, and the track will provide a new challenge for all players.”

Video: First look at F1® 2020 and Circuit Zandvoort
Max Verstappen’s Red Bull Racing car and Circuit Zandvoort. A match made in heaven, and now here for you to check out in all its virtual glory for your first look at F1® 2020! The Dutch Grand Prix™ was due to take place this weekend, and whilst the real-life action on Zandvoort has been postponed, we’ve got a treat for you.
Circuit Zandvoort is a unique circuit, with those steep banks, and, of course, that final corner. It’s a track steeped (if you’ll pardon our pun) in history, becoming an official part of the F1® calendar in 1952, and holding grands prix until 1985. 2020 is the year it makes its hugely anticipated return, and we can’t wait to race on it virtually before the real-life cars do.
[previewyoutube="gAvWlp9fHvo;full"] “The team has done an incredible job in recreating every aspect of the circuit. The banked final corner heading into the long straight is something players are going to enjoy,” said Lee Mather, F1® Franchise Game Director here at Codies.
“Circuit Zandvoort is highly technical with height variation, blind crests and unsighted braking points and corner apexes. It’s an onslaught on the senses and doesn’t give players a moment to rest.”
That’s not the only treat we have for you though - we’re not just here to give you the first look at F1® 2020. It’s time to lift the lid on our cover art!
For those of you that'll be buying a physical edition of the game, depending on your region you'll have different cover stars feature on your box. However, if you snap up the F1® 2020 Michael Schumacher Deluxe Edition, you'll have a seven-time champion to greet you on the cover.
To find out what other drivers feature on the cover, take a look at our blog post over on the official Formula 1® Game site.
