We are very proud to announce a huge step in our development of the game. We've finally finished implementing workshop integration and the in-game level editor! This means that from now on, everybody can contribute levels and thus hopefully, you will soon be able to play as many factories as you wish.
Apart from that, we have overhauled the graphics of the game to follow a more uniform style and have finally created an environment which fits the factory theme. Furthermore, we provide some additional game settings to make the game more scalable and added more levels to the base game.
To encourage the user creation of levels, we decided to hold a tiny contest: if you create a level, you may post the link to the workshop page either in our telegram group or in the community section of steam and tell us that you want to hand in the level for the contest. We will look through these levels and include the best of them in the game permanently. There won't be any rewards or benefits apart from your content being featured in the game. We will mention your name if you so desire.
With this update, the development of Factorybelts is near its full completion. We will still think about other features that might improve the game, fix any bugs we (or you) find and add minor improvements if we get suggestions or come up with something. That being said, please reach out to us if you have any feedback!
Happy factory building!
Update 2 - Graphics overhaul
Hello there! Yes, we're still alive but the life of an indie dev is not an easy one. Things have been rough and it's a shame we couldn't publish this update earlier. However, now it is here, and you'll get to enjoy a bunch of new graphics.
Changes include:
New models and a complete overhaul of the look of all machines.
Animations and particle effects; it's now easier to grasp, what a machine is doing.
New controls! You can now roam around the factory with your standard WASD keys.
The automatic rotation of machines when placing them down is now slightly more intelligent.
Chapters now need a certain amount of points to be unlocked.
If you play a level multiple times, the score only gets updated if you achieve a new record.
A new machine, the washer, is now available.
However, the biggest change - the main reason it took so long for this update - you won't notice since it's in the background. We completely reworked the way levels are created and loaded into the game. As of now, this is no benefit for the player, BUT, it is the base for a much bigger addition which will hopefully be part of the next update: Steam Workshop integration with a level editor!
Happy playing to everybody!
Instagram
Hello everyone
Just a quick notification: We are now on instagram. We'll post some behind the scenes and development pictures there. So if you are interested in what we are currently working on, check us out (simply search for "factorybelts").
Have a wonderful week.
Update 1 - Translations
Greetings Engineers
We are happy to announce our first minor update. Here is the list of changes:
- Translations: we have localized the game in German, French and Russian
- Environment: the first step towards a better looking environment is done; it now looks much more like a factory.
- Settings: it was clear that we needed to provide players with the possibility to customize some aspects like the window mode and the music volume; that's now possible.
There have been some minor GUI improvements too but most of them won't be directly visible.
Unfortunately we didn't come around to finish some more levels ːsteamsadː
We will do our best to give you more work as soon as possible.
Remember that you can talk with us and other community members directly via telegram!
Coming soon!
Hello everyone
The first release of Factorybelts is getting very close and we are getting quite excited! To help structure the feedback that we'll hopefully get from you guys and girls, we've created two discussion boards specifically for that.
Feature requests: please post any idea that you'd like to see in the game right here. As of right now, feel free to post about every aspect of the game. In the future we might split the board up into more specific topics.
Bug reports: if something doesn't work or if the game crashes, please post about it right here. Whatever your problem is, please describe it as detailed as possible including what you did before the problem showed up. Only then will we be able to reproduce it on our side and try to fix it asap. It also helps if you provide us with screenshots/screencasts and all the error messages you get.
Finally, there's our telegram support/community group right here! Please use it to discuss anything game related with us or with each other. Generally speaking, we'll most likely respond faster to messages in the telegram group, since it's our main IM platform anyways. This does not mean that we won't look at your posts here on steam of course. You might just not get a reply as fast :p2blue:
