The Road To Episode 2

Heya goons and goonettes!

Small update for yas today.





Mostly some Episode 1 housekeeping and bugfixes while we get ready to launch the Level Editor and Steam Workshop SOON™

But what's in this here update???

-New “Reduce Particle FX” option for low spec PCs (for dem framerates):





-New Mike one liner VOs

(Image em in yer head there)

-Additional car variations and cop car lights: (woop woop)





-Extra sprites/animations/deaths for the Tommy Gun Goon





Don't show this to the kids!


Fixed Issues:



  • Mike could fall through various elevators if the player save/loaded while riding
  • Corrected minor issues with vehicle geometry throughout the game
  • Patched various holes in map geometry throughout the game
  • Killing sharks in Level 2 and then save/loading would cause the sharks to resurrect with god mode lol
  • Player unable to crouch on specific rooftops in Level 3
  • Blowing up the tanker truck in Level 3 and save/loading would cause it to revert to the non-exploded model
  • Prevented player from softlocking in Level 4 by save/loading during specific moments of the investigation sequence
  • Unconscious Delia could gib if she made contact with elevators in Level 5 (ouch)

The Wheels of Steel Update

AY OH, IT'S 2025 ALREADY?! WELL WOULD YA LOOK AT THAT.

GUESS WE BETTER GET BACK TO WORK ON DA GAME, BOSS!

TAKE A LOOKIN AT WHAT WE BEEN COOKIN.




General improvements:


  • Fixed enemies falling through moving geometry after loading a save.
  • If an enemy gets stuck trying to move through another, they'll be allowed to move temporarily.
  • Enemies will avoid pathing to the same position, instead opting to move closeby if another enemy is moving to or at that position.
  • Every path calculation should be asynchronous now.
  • Enemies won't ragdoll for short falls anymore and will instead enter a "short fall" state.
  • Enemies will fall if you break geometry from under them.
  • Hopefully fixed fire pushing enemies away if it spawns at their feet.
  • Shitting goon can navigate off the toilet better. (IMPORTANT!)


Hideout:

  • Adjusted Blake dialogue triggers to prevent buggy behaviour.
  • You can now hit Nightwave and he'll react.
  • Blake now reacts to you hitting him. (stop that)



User Interface:

  • Updated text and some UI elements to be bigger on steam deck.
  • Better controller navigation in profile menu.
  • Enabled rename and delete profile buttons on steam deck.
  • Added options to change status effect card and enemy healthbar size in accessibility menu on PC.
  • Improved sliders.



Lighter:

  • Slighty higher radius.
  • Faster light.
  • Removed strobe effect.



Audio:

  • Fixed fire sfx stopping after save/load.
  • Fixed audio glitch when the camera exits water in level 2 intro.
  • Fixed music not playing after stopping a stinger abruptly.
  • Fixed event-triggered ambience not playing after loading a save.




Other changes:

  • Fixed buggy behaviour when enemies are fighting eachother.
  • Fixed Mike's hands staying up after death if they were in the middle of a kick animation.
  • Fixed equipped item display not updating sprite correctly when breaking a bottle.
  • Fixed being able to press R to restart while a menu is open leading to buggy behaviour.
  • Fixed circle screen transition moving too fast when a frame takes too long.
  • Fixed action cooldown being too short when using nailgun melee with bolt.
  • Fixed corpses on fire perpetually spreading fire to other corpses.
  • Fixed death by throttlin' not triggering taunt lines.
  • Snipers can now target enemy faction members.
  • Enemies now need to fall further to take fall damage.
  • Thrown bodies now deal more damage to breakable doors, allowing you to throw an enemy through them.
  • Player kicks now deal more damage to props and breakable geometry.
  • Projectiles now pass through decorative corpses and they'll rotate to face the camera better.
  • Molotov mook will try to avoid throwing a molotov if it'll hit their buddies, however he'll still hit them if they move into where the molotov lands after it's thrown.
  • Smoke from fire now avoids going through the ceiling.
  • Allow sprinting with bodies when using Bolt.
  • New vehicle models.
  • New machinegun mook sprites.
  • Machinegun mook can now walk.
  • Some new oneliners for Mike.
  • New punch & automatic pistol sfx.
  • Map updates/fixes.
  • Lighting updates/fixes.
  • Added fall damage to Delia.



SO WHATS DA BIG DEAL HERE?


Well as you can see we've remade EVERY SINGLE AUTOMOBILE ASSET IN THE GAME (Thanks to DUSK HD creator, Garumin) and that there Tommy Gun goon got all new animations, too.

So what's next?

Well we've already got Episode 2 all storyboarded out and into production but before dat we're gonna give all yous da Level Editor and Steam Workshop so you can make your own Fallen Aces levels and leave us the hell alone while we work on the game! Sound good?

The Hideout Update

Hey all yous knuckleheads, welcome back to Fallen Aces!

That's right we finally got Nightwave's Hideout in the game.

Plus some other stuff. Read all about it!




You'll first go to the hideout after Chapter 2 and then again after each mission in Episode 1.




Theres new dialogue and other stuff happening there after each chapter so we recommend a fresh playthrough to sees it all!

Holy cannoli, what a week it's been for us ovah here at New Blood.

Over 70,000 goons whalloped, over 2000 Overwhelmingly Positive reviews!

WE DID PRETTY GOOD, EH?!

But we ain't even begun, kiddos.





First things first, we got an update for ya - and it's out... RIGHT NOW!



We got autosaves!


The game will now save every time an objective is updated (and even some other places) so you ain't gonna lose no more progress! But just in case, don't forget to use dem F6 and F9 keys, alright?


We now got slots for Quicksaves, Autosaves and Manual Saves, ordered automatically by your most recent - you can even delete dem saves!

Unfortunately some of your saves ain't gonna work no more because we've made some level changes, but your progress is gonna be all good, boss!

We also got some new options!


We got crouch toggle and sprint toggle! (for those of ya with dem old fingers)


You can even disable controller support now so your racing wheel don't somehow start spinning when you start up Nightwave's car, hah!

Speaking of Nightwave


We moved his dog food eatin' ass up higher in Level 2 so he can snipe more goons! Ya welcome!


We've also updated the map and boat objectives a bit to make it a bit easier to figure out what ya gotta do in that level. Happy, detective?



We also made some small adjustments to levels 3, 4 and 5 plus fixed plenty of bugs.

Go have a look, see if ya can spot what we "made better" wise guy.


Now we also heard some of yous saying the game was TOO EASY?!

Well guess what, tough guy - we made hard mode harder!

But that's not all...

WE GOT CUSTOM DIFFICULTY NOW.


Go ahead! Make the game as hard or as easy as ya want. Want Mike to do no damage? heheh good luck.


Want Mike to kill everyone in one hit and have blind goons stand around all day looking for im? Go nuts!

HERE'S WHAT WE'RE WORKING ON NEXT



What's that? It's Nightwave's garage ya dumb palooka!

This will be where Mike will be able to go between missions to stock up on food, ammo, weapons, health items and eventually spend all that money on UPGRADES.


That's right, we'll let ya carry more stuff, do more damage, take less damage, maybe even give Mike an ammo pouch and a little lunchbox! heheh

Will it have a shooting range? OF COURSE IT'LL HAVE A SHOOTING RANGE WHAT SORTA VIDEO GAME DO YOU THINK THIS IS WHY I OUGHTTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

ANYWAY...


We're also working on the Secret Level for Episode 1, having our old buddy Andrew Hulshult do an audio pass on things like the cutscenes, working on getting new enemies and weapons into the game and even some more civilians you can terrorize! (or help, ya lunatic)


This is of course in addition to our upcoming Level Editor and Steam Workshop support, as well as a new demo!

Oh and for all yous complaining about the game not running on that there Steam Deck, don't worry - WE'RE WORKIN ON ITTTTTTTT

Hey there all yous gabagoons!



So unless you been living under a rock - you should know that we just announced that Fallen Aces: Episode 1 will be out THIS WEEK. FRIDAY, JUNE 14TH.


When?!

Should be in the morning. Might be at night. Sometime on Friday, alright.

What are we getting?!

All of Episode 1! (there's 3 episodes total)

It's got FIVE BIG LEVELS with lots of replayability, a ton of weapons and ways to play em and fully hand drawn and voice acted comic book style cutscenes like you can see in that there trailer.






It's a BIG PALOOKA of an Early Access launch.


What do we get after that?

Well well well, after we're happy with the Episode 1 launch and we do some updates based on YOUR feedback - we'll be expanding and iterating on the game but also releasing our FULL LEVEL EDITOR later this year along with STEAM WORKSHOP SUPPORT. How bout dat?


That should keep you goons busy while we work on Episode 2, eh?

What about the demo?

That thing is OLD, man. Like seriously old as a rusty trombone. It's still good though so we've left it up but we'll be getting rid of it once Early Access starts! The game is so much better and different now, you're not gonna believe it. Trust da boss on this one.


Will there be a new demo?

Maybe! Not yet though cuz we're busy polishing up Episode 1 for launch and working on the level editor and Steam Workshop support - but we do love free stuff - so if ya ask real nice maybe we'll do a new one down the line.
