Release 3 - Instant Super Charges, adaptive pickups & more!
Hi everyone!
Release 3 of FIGHTING SPACE brings some further improvements in gameplay & balancing.
Release 3 changes & updates
[ADDITIONS]
Introducing Instant Super Charges
You may now fire off smartbombs, silences & indestructibility with this new pickup type at once.
Adaptive pickup spawns
Depending on how well you do in the game, you may find pickups at selected spots throughout the game that help your progress. Adaptive pickup spawns consider the difficulty level, how many lives you have lost, if you reached a checkpoint this stage, etc. This is to prevent deadlock situations where you couldn't proceed in the game after you died and lost your weapon levels. For example, you may find weapon upgrades & instant super charges in a boss fight when there's evidence for a deadlock situation. In some parcours situations, the cost of extra lives will be somewhat be compensated with adaptive pickups.
[BUG FIXES]
- Player ships charging at the end of a stage wasn't framerate independent. Now it is.
- Crossing a checkpoint while having indestructibility could sometimes leave the buff effect at the checkpoint.
[CHANGES]
- Collected loot coins now will accumulate until you have 50 or more, enhancing your chances to get a bonus stage.
[COSMETICS]
- Added sound & music switches to the ingame menu.
- Single Player shipyard has now a centered layout.
- Having 50 or more loot coins has a visual feedback in the HUD.
[BALANCING]
- Changed Rookie base speed to 160 (was 150)
- Changed Comet Chaser base speed to 170 (was 160)
- Changed Wings of Liberty base speed to 190 (was 180)
- Changed Flying Fortress base speed to 130 (was 120)
- Greatly reduced the cost of Stasis Cannon to 12000 (was 18000)
Cheerio!
First update (release 2) - Major stuff!
Oh joy! FIGHTING SPACE has been updated to Release 2 (previously dubbed version 1.1.1)!
This release includes numerous bug fixes, balancing and additions for a better game experience.
[h]Release 2 changes & updates[/h]
[ADDITIONS]
- Added button configuration for the XBox 360 controller. Also generalized the gamepad recognition to add additional mappings later. Legacy button layout should remain until you reconfigure it. Also legacy functionality: Button Y in the main menu still works for selecting for now.
- Added Arial font overlay for Steam High Scores & Boss Times to support a wider range of UTF 8 character sets.
[BUG FIXES]
- Fixed sound & music configuration in the game setup menu. Furthermore, removed the defunct PC speaker option.
- Fixed a bug where the player could suffer instant deaths at level start with certain ship / pilot configuration. Sorry if that happened.
- Game could freeze when the player paused during a dialogue.
[CHANGES]
- Ship controls are now 1:1 responsive, eliminating any remaining inertia. This will feel different for those who played the game quite some time, but you'll get the hang of it in no time. Note that pilot controls remain unchanged.
- Arcade Mode: You cannot pick up ship or controls tech anymore. Choose your pilot wisely!
[COSMETICS]
- Technology pickups now display the corresponding shop icon for easier identification.
- HUD icons for the Super Charge Tech have been colorized to be more distinctive.
- Updated the instructions screen covering the recent changes. Also added default controls display for both gamepad & keyboard.
[BALANCING]
- You won't lose your wingmen after a stage is cleared. You will still lose them when dying.
- Arcade Mode: Weapon level will not reset to your min. weapon level after a stage is cleared. It will still reset when you die.
- Arcade Mode: Reduced the chance for a technology pickup in from 20 to 12 percent.
- Ships max. speed has been generally reduced by ~ 25% as a result of higher input responsivity.
- Fusion Engine 1 now costs 2200 credits (was 1500) as a result of higher input responsivity.
[DISCONTINUED]
- Basque / Euskera will not be a supported language in future releases. This sacrifice has to be made to pave the way for further development.
Sentitzen dugu!
