November Update (v0.18)

I've just released the Final Days v0.18 update. The main addition is the new training mode which aims to teach new players the basics, as well as giving a little bit of back story. I've also added a new map called "Hotel Floor" which should be a good challenge.

Here's a summary of the changes:

  • Added training mode
  • Added new map: "Hotel Floor"
  • All maps now support up to 200 active enemies. Most of the maps previously only supported about 100, so this should make higher levels/difficulties a lot more challenging now.
  • Tweaks to the number of enemy, crate, and barrel spawns in various maps
  • Improved appearance of the TV static effect (for both the menu screen and the field of view)
  • Graphics quality settings can now be customised. This includes the ability to disable the animated field of view effect (useful if you prefer the original plain black version).
  • Simplified full-screen video options

For further details, you can view the full changelog on the forums.

Hope you enjoy the update!

Cheers,
Mike

Halloween Update (v0.17)

I've just released the Final Days v0.17 update in time for the Halloween weekend. It includes a whole bunch of changes, tweaks, and fixes. In the spirit of Halloween though, I've also added a new graveyard themed map.

Here's a summary of the main changes:

  • Added new large map: Graveyard
  • Made aiming accuracy less harsh. Walking (holding Shift for KB controls) now has no accuracy penalty. Accuracy also improves a lot faster now when moving slowly.
  • Host can now change map and/or difficulty via in-game menu (or options menu in the dedicated server)
  • Added final stats after game over for single player
  • Added new animated field of view effect (to better distinguish it from lighting effects) (NOTE: Only enabled when graphics quality is at least "medium")
  • Changed visual effect when picking up items (no more screen flash)
  • Added sound effects for picking up health and armour
  • Ammo name pops out of player whenever the ammo type is changed
  • Bullet trails are now a slightly different colour depending on ammo type
  • Better handling of multiple monitors

There are also a few other tweaks and fixes included. If you'd like to know more, you can view the full changelog on the forums.

Hope you enjoy the update! Happy Halloween!

Cheers,
Mike
