Today marks the 3-year anniversary of the release of Final Rest. The goal of our first title was to introduce the idea of having VR experiences, that allow spectators to be a part of the story. We spent several weeks developing this 4 minute horror experience. We really hoped people would get a kick out of terrorizing their friends, family or even strangers, using their creativity to come up with different props to use (watch our trailer video for some ideas). So please continue to post videos of the screams from your victims with #FinalRestVR.
So with the global heath crisis in full force in just about every nation, we wanted to bring some well needed joy to the VR community by offering our freshman title for free (or $.99 for commercial use). If you enjoy the title, please help spread the fun by sharing it with your fellow Steam friends.
Thanks to the hundreds of people who have visited our studio and come to our booths at the many shows we've attended in the past 3 years. We are still working on several titles for both VR and AR and hope to help usher in an era of fun, learning and collaboration with these awesome technologies.
Stay safe everyone, but if you really feel like dying today just load up Final Rest and experience 4 minutes of blood and fun.
Spring Time - What a pleasant time to die!
Final Rest version 1.0 was just released and Slipgate Studios is very proud of our freshman title. It was created with a lot of love and attention to detail, so it will probably take you several viewings to catching everything that is going on. This project was developed in a short time frame, just a few weeks actually; but has been in testing for months to make sure everything is just right. Who knew working with demons would be so difficult?!?
We are currently working on a couple of more minor tweaks, to make sure it works with the Oculus Rift's Touch controllers and it will be available soon for that hardware. In the meantime, if you are an Oculus user and want to experience Final Rest you'll just need to press the ENTER key to start the "Evil" mode, sorry no "Good" mode yet. As in many applications, the ESC key will quit you out...in case you get too scared.
Many thanks to our nearly 100 beta testers for all your valuable feedback and enjoyable frights. Too bad we didn't record more of you losing yourselves to our antics.
Coming soon will be a video showing you how best to scare your victims. Plus we want to see what devious ideas you have, to make Final Rest that ultimate horror experience.
