Fire With Fire: Online Tower Attack and Defense

Website and Server hacked. Game Currently Down

Someone got into my host account and wiped my server content. My last backup was from a while back so I have to go through all the server code and match it up with our current version based off an old backup. Good news is all user data is safe. Just the code files were damaged. I'll get the game back up as soon as I can but will take some time.

UPDATE 0.9.10: Faster matches, cheaper items and a new skin.

Hey Everyone, long time no see. We're back at it again here with many incrimental updates to game play design and content in the pipeline. Starting off with big balance changes and a new skin in 0.9.10

Gameplay Changes:


We decided to up the ante for matches. Creeps are faster and more resilient while towers have become more deadly. This should significantly reduce average match length. The following changes change the effectivness of all towers. We appreciate your help with balance feedback following this update. Thank you!

  • Creeps spawn 20% faster thus match rounds will be about that much faster.
  • Creep Move Speed increased by 20% further shortening round time.
  • Creep Armor base increased by 2.
  • Tower Damage increased by 20%
  • Tower Attack Speed increaded by 10%
  • Hydron Tower Damage bonus decreased by 10% to lower it's benefit from enemy creep speed.(Hydron still technically received a buff from this update)
  • Particle Tower Attack Speed increased by 10% to further compensate the new creep speed.


Store and Economy Changes:



  • All items in the store seeds and kindling costs have been drastically reduced by 18%-66%
  • Skins can now be purchased with Seeds as well as Kindling.
  • Achievement seed rewards increased by 25 each. Match Seed rewards have been slightly decreased.

  • Round Ready button: When both players click "Ready!" the round will start skipping the 45sec timer.

PATCH 0.9.09: New Heartburn and Rekindle Creeps Available!

Hey it's been a while. Minor bug fixes and the new Heartburn Set is available on the in game store!



Heartburn has an undying spirit, regenorating a significant portion of health after taking fire. Kill them quickly...or you won't be able to!

Rekindle refuses to give up. Upon death they leave behind a coal statue which bursts back to life with increased movespeed and determination after a few seconds.

We think players will be able to incorporate these into their attack strategies nicely, let me know how balanced they are in the discuessions.

PATCH 0.9.08 NEW TUTORIAL / CAMPAIGN

Completely new tutorial which makes up the first (and currently only) mission of the campaign. Please replay the tutorial and let me know if you find a bug you might also learn something you didn't catch in the old one.

Also fixed some game crashing bugs people were having using certain creeps.

I've also been working on a new Tower Set and Creep Set with Brian which will be included int he next Patch 0.9.09. Check the Discussion boards for more details on that.

PATCH 0.9.071 Minor updates.

Remember you may need to restart steam to trigger the patch download.

Added: Pointer arrows to help new players in the picking screen until level 3.
Fixed: Some issues with tutorial not updating fast enough.
Changed: Creeps will deal increased damage per round.

Added: The tower achievements are now functional in the game you can now gain +300xp and +50 seeds by extinguishing 1000 creeps per damaging tower.

PATCH 0.9.07 STABILITY

I worked on the server a lot. It seems to be pretty stable, but the real test starts now. Please leave issues in my pinned discussion, thanks!

Using a better compiler, I'm seeing a 20% frame rate performance increase, I hope it's the same or better for you all.

Changed: The default map for matchmaking, mixing it up. You can still choose any of the three maps when inviting a friend to play with you.

Added: a message signifying the server is waiting for the other player to finish watching the waves before bringing you back to the build phase.

Hopefully from here we can get back to adding features!

PATCH 0.9.06 STABILITY

This is just a stability patch, no game play changes have been made. Please restart steam to trigger the update.

Fixed: Lobby menu navigation.
Switching between menus should be more reliable now.

Added: Streamlined Tutorial
The tutorial should be easier to get through now, an arrow depicts where the player should be focusing at all times.

Fixed: login and account creation.
This should work well now. Let me know if there are issues, thanks.

Added: Server stability
Made changes to the way the game communicates with the server, this should help players with slower computers stay connected to the game.

PATCH 0.9.03 AUTO LOGIN IS HERE

Thanks for your patience while we worked things out with account creation. You might need to restart steam to trigger the update.

Patch Notes 0.9.03

Added: Auto login:
Steam will now auto log you in once you have created an account and logged in once before. You must answer yes when the game asks you to link steam to your account after logging in for this to work.

Fixed: Friends list:
The social button is now active in the lobby. You an add friends using their fwf username(not steam name) and invite them to a match.
There are 3 arenas with diferent layouts to choose from when inviting a friend. I plan on adding more functionallity with steam in regards to managing friends later.

Fixed: Changing skins bug
You can now correctly change your arena skin from the profile menu after buying one in the store.

Fixed: Login issues

Wave of Updates and bug fixes

Thank you all for hanging in there while we sort things out. Online games are especially complex especially for a single coder on the team(me). The flood of players and active community has revealed a few issues I'm working hard to fix as soon as possible.

I'm still working on getting steam to auto login, and also to auto create an account when possible. In the mean time the following bugs have been fixed in this new version. Please restart Steam to trigger the update if you get a "wrong version" message in game.

Patch Notes: 0.9.02

Note: You do not need to verify your email to login, also if you get a "email already taken" error, your account was probably made, try logging in.

Fixed: Fire Rain Creep sometimes crashing games.
Fire rain will now only spawn along the paths. Instead of just anywhere.

Fixed: Lantern is buffed and working properly heals a tree by 2 HP per every 3 creeps extinguished within it's area of effect.

Fixed: You can buy Kindling with EUR, GPB, RUB, BRL, previously only USD was working.

Adjusted: Creep stats
I've made changes to creep stats to encourage slightly shorter matches. The general flow of the match should remain unchanged, though you should notice slightly more creeps getting through in general and more towards the later rounds.

<*>+2 creeps per wave. This should heat things up.
<*>+3%(about) Creep HP per level, compounded. The Spit Fire Creep starts with 220 HP and have about 2500 HP at Lv.9(anything at lv.9 is pretty unstoppable without counter towers)
<*>+20-5% move speed based on slowness. Slower Creeps gained more.
<*>Creeps deal more damage as the game progresses. The base damage to trees was halved. By round 6 their damage is back to what it was.

I invested many months full time and much of my free time the last 3 years, with the help of one artist and one music composer to create this free competitive TD experience. The game is still young, but together with your feedback and support we can grow it in to the best Tower Defense game on Steam.
