Hello again everyone! I'm happy to announce the Volatility update has rolled around for Firewerx.
New Features
Volatility! Now, if you're not careful with your phials, they may shatter and explode! In future this will damage the player, so I'd get used to it!
Returning Features
Crouching has been reintroduced to the game and now functions with the new Input System.
Rotating Items has also been brought back in the same way.
Fixes
Some old, incorrect loading screen tips have been removed or changed.
I would also like to mention to keep an eye out outside the Firewerx building - I suspect some local businesses are thinking of setting up shop! They should be open and ready around Early Access 1.7.
Thanks again everyone, happy crafting!
Early Access: Patch 1.5.1
Fixes & Changes
(Hopefully) Solved an issue where Firework Skins were invisible if you didn't own any.
Fixed default materials not being set for Fireworks if the player didn't own a skin.
Special Shells now actually drop from level up rewards.
Removed the empty advertisement board as it was taking up space.
Fixed post processing not working properly on the main menu.
New Features
Added a new Hidden Achievement.
Early Access 1.5: Available Now!
Hello everyone! Sorry about the delays, but Firewerx 1.5 Early Access is now available! This is a pretty significant update at least in my eyes as it introduces Gamepad Compatibility to the game, as well as some major and minor changes to the overall gameplay mechanics.
Changes
The Inventory System has been removed from the game, you must now carry a firework with you to the Training Grounds should you wish to launch one.
Levelling up has been significantly nerfed so you don't take several orders to reach the first one!
Codes have been temporarily disabled as there are no usable codes at the moment.
Visual Changes
Upgraded to Unity's Universal Render Pipeline
Redesigned a majority of the HUD and UI Elements to make them easier to navigate (especially on gamepad)
New Features
Added 2 new Firework Shell Skins of Special Rarity. These are available in drop tables like normal skins.
Added a new skin preview to the main menu, which replaces the old inventory UI.
Gamepad Compatibility! Currently this has only been confirmed working for Xbox One controllers. If your controller doesn't work, please leave a report in the Discord.
As always if you guys have any suggestions or notable bugs, please leave feedback either on the Steam Forums or through our Discord.
Thank you everyone!
Sneak Peak for Firewerx 1.5!
Hello everyone! Today I unfortunately don't have an update for Firewerx ready. However, I can provide a sneak peak of what I'm currently working on, and the many changes coming to Firewerx Patch 1.5!
Visual Upgrades
Several core visual mechanics have been upgraded and changed, including the game's render pipeline and several of its UI elements. I wanted to liven up the environment a bit and make better use of it. Choosing a skin from the main menu will give players a preview of the firework they're currently rockin', just on the side bench. Along with this, skins now persist after exiting the game, so there's no need to constantly re-apply! *Also pictured: one of two new special skins coming with this update
Controller Support
Controller Support for Firewerx is pretty much complete! Menu navigation is currently the last thing left to do before it's "game ready", then the patch will be available for gamepad users to try as well! This is a result of switching to Unity's Input System, which now allows for far more interactivity and variety in player input.
Firewerx Patch 1.5 is scheduled to release late April.
Once again I'd like to thank you all for remaining patient in Firewerx's development, your support is all greatly appreciated!
Gamepad Compatibility in the works!
Hello everyone! Thank you all for the continuous support towards Firewerx. Here's a little bit of news in place of a previously scheduled update:
Controller Support
Controller Support will soon be coming to Firewerx! This update involves an entire rework of the game's input system and will finally allow for configurable hotkeys. I wanted to expand the potential audience for Firewerx by adding more ways to play, and paving the path towards future VR Support.
Currently, only the player's basic movement has been given the upgrade, but you should expect to see this update releasing some time later this month. In due time, this upgrade should also allow me to have a look at expanding to other platforms!
Small Inactivity Period
There isn't a day that I don't do at least the smallest amount of work on Firewerx. However, come this Friday I won't be able to continue development for a number of days. With the switch to the new input system, Firewerx won't receive any updates until I can work again. Hopefully you guys can enjoy what Firewerx currently is in the meantime before updates can continue again!
