Just another round of improvements:

  • Computer cannon statistics now register correctly on the game's final stat screen.
  • The final stat screen now properly displays the computer's difficulty.
  • The game's targeting system will no longer attempt to automatically target a valid tile, but will instead display an error message. This was originally implemented to help the player, but it proved to be too disorienting.

• Fixed the "cannot join the game" bug.

Patch 0.3.1 Is Finally Here!

The mega update is finally here! Firmament Wars has been upgraded with a highly optimized caching system to store game data. Expect gameplay to feel much smoother and faster than ever! Along with the redesign are some updates as well:

• Literally everything should feel faster and the game should scale better in terms of supporting more concurrent players. This is where the bulk of the work went in this patch! A big deal if you decided to tell all of your friends about how cool Firmament Wars is...
• Friends lists are now stored locally on your computer. Your old friend list is gone. Sorry! It was for the best. Trust me.
• Fixed a bug in team games with AI opponents that sometimes caused games to end prematurely.
• Removed the GET troop bonuses from the game for reasons.

Upgrading to version 0.3 - Outage Taking Longer Than Expected

Apologies for the extended outage. We'll be right back when everything is working as expected! The latest update came with some unexpected behavior.

Full Release Pushed to Late August to Finish Netcode Optimization

Thanks to all of the helpful feedback from players, we found several important improvements to work on! For the time being, we are finished adding maps. Since the start of Early Access on June 23rd, we have added five new maps and improved one map. We hoped to release today, however the netcode optimizations are taking longer than expected, so we will mark Firmament Wars as "full release" as soon as those changes are completed. We hope that is no later than the end of August.

The lobby and title screen have already been full refactored, but we are still finishing up refactoring the netcode for the game mode itself. Our goal is that the game will be able to support hundreds, perhaps thousands, of concurrent players once the changes are finished.

New 8-Player Flat Earth Map And More!

Patch 0.2.6 has added the following:

• A new 8-player Flat Earth map has been added to the game.
• The map now zooms out farther than before to allow players to see more at once.
• Made various server-side performance optimizations.
