Christmas Event !


the temperatures are dropping, it's an opportunity to stay warm at home, and play FitnessVR to digest the good Christmas meals!

During this holiday season, your star coach will be none other than Rodolphe, Santa Claus' red-nosed reindeer.
Don't be fooled by its small size and its childish look, it is no less formidable when it comes to training its companions to pull the famous Christmas sleigh!



The NEWS


On the new side, many changes have disrupted the speed of development of FitnessVR, but these slowdowns will improve the entire project.


  • First, from a technical point of view, FitnessVR must be able to be played regardless of the hardware users have.
    It is therefore a total rewrite of a large part of the functionalities which today makes it possible to operate the game with Oculus, Vive, or SteamVR, Quest and more.
    Unless I am mistaken, the standardization of orders is now functional.

  • Secondly, the avatar, initially intended only to work with oculus avatar, evolves to join Ready Player Me.
    So if you already have an account on one of the games listed in their library, you will soon also be able to use it in FitnessVR, and upgrade it, all in anticipation of the multiplayer mode.




  • Third, since you will have access to ready player me, why not your coaches?
    I was looking for a character editor system that was simple and effective, and it seems that it is taken the way...

  • Fourth, in connection with the new commands mentioned first, you now have the possibility of moving around by teleporting in the small game areas in the different scenes.
    This mode of travel will not work during Fitness class, otherwise you may get lost :D
    Also, as the commands have been modified, you will have in the left hand the movements, camera rotation, and in the right hand the interactions with the objects and the interfaces.
    This ability will allow you to discover and introduce your friends to secret areas :)

  • Fifth, and still following the redesign logic of the commands, the level editor system has been redesigned and reworked to be easier and more readable in the choice of items to buy.
    You will now have a workbench at your side, regardless of your position in the creation area. This will allow you to move with your left hand and work with your right hand.



  • Sixth, what if you wanted to chat with your coaches about rain or shine? Or even ask them questions about Sport, fitness and learn more about the hidden features and little secrets of the game?
    and to have more information about the Blackant Master Universe?

    Soon, it will be possible, yes, absolutely!

These are essentially new features in place and in anticipation, but many other plans are still hidden and will be revealed to you when the time comes!

Room Editor Functionnality and content upgrade

Hello dear players !

This update is a bit big for me, and also for the content of FitnessVR Creators !
I hope many of you will post your creations on the community hub.

The Assets Library





The number of available objects is actually 280, and will of course grow as the game will do.
In this version, you will not be able to use them all, because (my bad) I forgot to give the ability to scroll the list, but Promise, it will be available on next update ;)=

Some categories like humans are not filled, there is a lot of work to do for this one, especially because I want to influence the game with obstacles and additional bonuses forcing you to do more dodges and effort, all of which is necessarily rewarded with additional Fit-points.

Also, some objects may have wrong settings can cause bugs, don't be surprised if this happens.
It's far from finish...

The UI Design



I worked on a more harmonious menu in terms of icons and colors.







And as you may see in the last screenshot, There is a red Background color if you can't buy the asset or dark blue if it's accessible.

Also you can notcie a small number visible over each asset.
This number indicate the quantity of stocked objects.
I have blocked the maximum quantity of stored objects at 99, which seems to me more than enough given the number of usable assets, and their price to unlock them.

to store an object you have 2 possibilities:

  1. Using the Delete Tool, simply click on the asset in place in the level and it will be stored. if your storage is full and already containing 99 objects, the last deleted is lost and money too.
  2. Inside Lootboxes, Each time you level up, you will gain different prices, including unic objects.

It's also time for me to create a guide to using the game's controls, because even if you'll quickly get around the buttons, some settings may not be intuitive.
Game controls are no secret and will be described soon and available in the Community Hub.


A last tribute to my friend



Sad part, but I would like to talk about this point, because I am personally touched by the death of my friend Stéphane Delaunay, known under the pseudonym of Billorko.
He participated with great enthusiasm in the creation of musics that you can find in the audio library of FitnessVR, and many other music from Blackant Master Studio.

It's time for another small update !

Hi, it's time for another small update !



This samll update is also a big change in performance, because it totally change the time the loading between scenes are taking.

Before this update, you may encounter long freeze loading because of undesired asset loaded into memory.
Now the changing between scene will only take few seconds so you'll can start playing and changing scene way faster.

It's also tiem for a smll update on lighting change, adding a better athmosphere environement lighting, on day and night cycles.

The Obstacle Mode is actually defaillant, because i'm reworking it to get beter performances, as the actual last version was more consuming with small pikes that made the game less smooth.
So don't be surprised if you encounter illogic speed and timing between hands, Head and obstacles.



But it's also the time for me to work on a bug that has appeared into the room editor, wich is not working at the moment, rays will not detect UI, impossible for you to add anything new from the library.
And this is my goal for the next update: making the library alomst complete so the next time Fit-points and loots will really work together !

On the other side I made few test regarding multiplayers, and it's also on the way.

Shout At The Devil

The Halloween period is coming and to celebrate, a great coach is joining the party!

Also take advantage of this period to get the game, offer it to your friends with the promotion at -30% during this festival!

This new version includes new scenery elements, which will be available in the level editor library.

I took the opportunity to fix some bugs, improve the loading times of the game, which has also been tested with Oculus Quest 2, Oculus Rift S and which should normally work without too many problems until the next update.

Success Enabled

A Small Update wich include the re-activation of Success,
Added 2 new Success for tourons and Experience level.
Preparation for Seasonnal Event Hallooween and Christmas.

Experience Score (Fit-Points) Will now reset each Month.

Carefull: this also means that if you have a score and follow the update, you will lose your first progression.

Progression and loot

Sweat more to earn more!



In this new version, you will now have the possibility to see your progress in the form of Levels.
With each new level completed, you will earn loot!

There are 100 tiers, each of which can be completed for 1,000 Fit-points, which requires a total of 100,000 Fit-points to be on top!

Each loot will contain up to 5 prizes to be won:
You would get either:

  • of the Turons.
  • items.


FAQs:
The Turons, Kézako?
The Turon is the official currency of the Blackant Master Universe (BMU). She is virtual.
It name comes from the French "Tout Rond", witch means "all round", a sentence said by sellers when you buy something with a rounded value, like :
"- and with this ?
- that's it.
- that will give you 10 altogether." -> ( 10 all round...)


How do I earn Fit-points?

  • By scoring maximum points in Obstacle Mode!
    At the end of your sports session, when you return to the coach selection room, these points will be automatically converted into Fit-points, but also into Turons .


Gain items for doing what?
In FitnessVR you have the ability to create and edit up to 4 custom levels.
In this version, the objects won are fictitious, because the object bank is incomplete. We will have to wait for a next update whose purpose is described below:
You will therefore have at your disposal an object bank, also called library, made up of several categories and classes of objects.
By creating your own environments, and by integrating certain special elements, you will have the possibility of influencing the training , in particular by adding targets and obstacles!

Why pay with Tourons to create?
Creating and editing rooms cannot be done for free for several reasons:

  • Technical reason: if you don't have an object placement limit, you have the possibility of overloading the memory and making the game crawl, which inevitably makes it not pleasant to to play.
  • Merit: It is more rewarding to have worked hard to be able to buy the objects that make you dream; and this will become considerably more important when switching to multiplayer mode.
  • Strategically: Some items are so expensive that they will be very difficult to obtain, forcing you to make strategic choices to spend Turons properly.


Items are classified?
And yes, first, classified by category (Trees, Bushes, Animals, Buildings, etc.), Then secondly, classified by value.
A bit like a role-playing game (RPG), the objects are classified according to this organization:

  1. Poor
  2. Common
  3. Precious
  4. Gold
  5. Rare
  6. Mythical
  7. Epic
  8. Legendary
  9. Unique

As Turons will leave fairly quickly, and you'll always need them, you'll appreciate being able to earn some and use your found items for loot.

What happens if I destroy an object I used in a scene.
Currently, one object destroyed = Turons lost. In a future update, objects will be stored up to a maximum of 99, and can be reused in the editor without having to pay for them again.

What happens once the 100 levels are reached and recovered?
Very good question, thanks for asking :) . This Feature is not yet active.
The experience level will go back to 0 every month, allowing you to continue your training by starting from the bottom, and collecting new batches!
This will also allow (later) to retrieve your statistics and show you graphs over a regular tracked period.

Beyond this large part of Update, several Bugs have been corrected, but many are still present.

Editor Room WIP

A New Version is coming !

Now that the voices for the coach Laura is done, i started focusing on more precise work regarding the room editor.

There will be a lot of content to add here, so i started working on the Tools, witch is the base for users to be able to create a lot concepts in this place.

There are many categories witch will list available content to use:

  • Environments: Mountain, City, Forest, Beach, Ocean.

    A simple way to set were you want the action to be played.
    For now this is just a prototyping, but it can be later a good start for more Ambiant works.

  • Buildings: Walls, Grounds or Floors, Roofs, Houses, Buildings and assets for insides.
    Walls, Grounds/Floors and roofs must be seen as procedural elements to crete something more complex and instead, Houses and buildings, are already prefab that can be droped imediately as finished elements.

  • Nature: Trees, Bushes, Flowers, Mushrooms, Cactus and inside plants.
  • Characters: Sports, Works, Hollidays, Streets, Medieval, Sci-fi.
  • Objects: Sports, Streets, Cars, Parc, Boat, planes and ships
  • Animals: pets, farm, birds, insects, fishes, Dinosaures and Beasts.



To make a good use of all of these assets, you'll need some Tools:
SO i separated the UI with Tool Swapping button, witch will let you

  • place a single object,
  • place multiple objects in a Straight line,
  • place multiple objects, following a curve,
  • An option To Snap Objects in location/Orientation/Scale, wich make it easiest to construct something clean.
  • An option to remove the Ground (if you want to put something else just in case),
  • And Finally An option to delete existing objects from your scene,



Of course working this kind of scenario is time consuming for players, so imeddiately started integrating a way to save and use edited rooms from the coach selection.
And to keep a trace of your level hardly build, a screenshot is saved and will replace the empty blue sky by defaut for any edited level.



Actually i did not planed to modify the 3 firsts levels, so they will stay like this, giving you 4 rooms to work on. The Goal is to let the community share rooms between players.

This a real long hard work with many bugs everywhere, and I must balance between Design and programing, so nothing is fixed at this step and may change in the futur.

Obstacle Mode Enabled

A NEW WAVE


in this version you now have the obstacle mode available from the main menu.

this mode will bring a big change in the overall concept of fitnessVR since you also have the possibility of achieving a score which directs me towards the possibility of organizing contests and tournaments, allowing everyone to show that they are capable of make the highest score and therefore store this information in a scoreboard which will be available to everyone.

The rules


the operation is simple

  • if it's red : avoid you
  • if it's a mine : avoid you
  • if it's a head : you put yours in it
  • if that's a left hand : you put your left hand in it
  • and if it's right hand : you catch it with the right hand


This way, the challenge is accessible for everyone, and should wake up your mind as well as your body ! :)

The Scoring


score side the rule is also simple since:
if you did the right thing you win 10 points,
if you made a mistake to 5 point,
if you dodge an obstacle you win 10 points,
if you miss a target you lose 5 points
if you take an obstacle you lose 50 points.
and if you take a mine you lose 100 points.

Mines are only available in intermediate and expert modes which by the way are not completely finished at this moment, and will deserve some adjustments because of the exercises at the floor.

Combo System


To make the highest score and be the best you will see the combo bar which will allow you to multiply the points by a coefficient relating to your success.

make 10 combo to increase the level of the score multiplier up to level 10, and try to keep it !

Brian English voice

The update made me rework the audio part for characters, so they can easily be swapped from a language to another, like it is now for the text translations.

it is also including the facial animated mesh version of Laura and her final rig.

Also included the New Jukebox System that allows you to activate or deactivate artists and songs from the playable list.

The jukebox list is now including 17 artists for a total amount of around 200 musics with various styles.

FitnessVR World Tour !!

Translations


This new version is now translated into all available languages!
I spent my days translating the menus to allow you to play FitnessVR in your language.



Not having all the possible knowledge in translations, it is possible that there are certain translation errors, font problems and other imperfections scattered here and there in the texts.

You can let me know your impressions and correct me by contacting me.



Design


This version also includes many modifications since for the translation, I had to integrate several adapted Fonts, so I took the opportunity to slightly revise the overall design of the menus.
I added sounds to make them livelier during your interactions.



I also reviewed and fixed several bugs in the main downtown scene, added more graceful effects of volumetric lights if playing at night.





What's Next?


And finally, I prepared the next updates, namely:

  • Make Laura character available
  • Integrate new musics
  • Give you access to the jukebox, allowing you to activate or not the music of your choice for sports.

  • Give you access to the scene editor, which will allow you to create the environments in which you will sweat.

  • ...and more content still to be expected for the sequel, and the first DLC which should see the end of its nose this winter or the end of this year if all goes well.
