Fast Forward, Balance, and Optimizations (1.1.4)

It's been a while since the last update, but this one brings some much needed changes to improve your experience!

Fast Forwarding


A new feature has been added where you can now fast forward the game! In the top right of the screen, you will find a button that says "x1". Click it to toggle between x1 and x2 speed!

Optimizations


Various optimizations have been made to the code. The game should run smoother for everyone in general!

Balancing


In an effort to get the game into a more balanced state, various adjustments have been made. Read all of the changes below:

Systems:



  • You will now start with +1 extra gold per NG level (e.g., if you play on NG+5, you will start with 5 additional gold)
  • Decreased enemy damage and armor scaling past 20 minutes.
  • Increased fairness of enemy scaling in higher NG levels


Classes:



  • Blaze: Class bonus improved: +2/4/6 -> +3/6/9 burn damage / sec
  • Frost: Class bonus improved: +20%/40% -> +25%/50% slow strength


Units:


Tier 1 Units



  • Prisoner: Increased attack speed
  • Arsonist: Increased attack speed
  • Arsonist: Base damage increased 10 -> 12
  • Arsonist: Max targets increased 4 -> 6
  • Arsonist: Level 3 ability improved: 15 -> 24 targets
  • Imp: Increased attack speed
  • Imp: Base damage increased 9 -> 13
  • Imp: Max targets increased 5 -> 6
  • Imp: Level 3 ability improved: 15 -> 30 targets
  • Spearman: Decreased attack speed slightly


Chainers



  • Inferno: Max chains at base level increased: 5 -> 7 chains
  • Inferno: Level 3 ability improved: Explosions deal 40% -> 60% damage
  • Stormbringer: Attack speed increased significantly
  • Stormbringer: Max chains at base level increased: 4 -> 7 chains
  • Warlock: Max chains at base level increased: 3 -> 4
  • Sorcerer: Max chains at base level increased: 4 -> 5


Guardians



  • Gargoyle: Level 3 ability reworked. New: "Immortal" - Every 13 seconds, fully heal itself
  • Warden: Base health increased: 50 -> 100
  • Warden: Armor buff increased: +30/60/90 -> +40/80/120 armor
  • Warden: Now applies armor buff to itself
  • Paladin: Base health increased: 50 -> 100
  • Paladin: Level 3 ability improved: Activate every 5 -> 4 attacks
  • Paladin: Level 3 ability improved: Deals significantly more damage


Arcane



  • Witch: Attack speed increased
  • Battle Mage: Base damage increased: 12 -> 15
  • Battle Mage: Max enemies hit increased: 2 -> 3
  • Icecaster: Level 3 ability improved: Icicles deal 70% -> 85% damage


Controllers



  • Volcanist: Base damage per tick increased: 2.3 -> 2.8
  • Blizzardess: Base damage per tick increased: 2.0 -> 2.4
  • Tempest: Base damage per tick increased: 3.0 -> 3.5
  • Scarecrow: Base damage increased: 21 -> 25


Others



  • Phoenix: Base damage increased: 7.5 -> 9
  • Phoenix: Level 3 ability improved: Burns tick 2x -> 4x faster
  • Fairy: Heal base cooldown decreased: 14 -> 11
  • Captain: Attack speed increased
  • Arctic Knight: Level 3 ability adjusted: 8 ice shards that deal 85% damage -> 5 ice shards that deal 75% damage
  • Wyvern: Base damage decreased: 21 -> 19


Upgrades



  • Virality: Chaining attacks can chain +3 -> +4 times
  • Chain Division: Damage debuff reduced: -50% -> -40%
  • Mana Density: Magic missiles can hit +2 -> +3 targets
  • Dueling: Gain +10 -> +12 armor pen for each friendly Duelist
  • Frostbite: Chilled enemies take +20% -> +25% damage
  • Regeneration: Units restore +1 -> +2 hp / sec
  • Weakening Flames: Burned enemies deal -25% -> -40% damage
  • Fortify: Guardians gain +100 armor for 5 seconds after taking damage -> +150 armor for 3 seconds after taking damage
  • Sharpening: Warriors gain +30% -> +25% damage
  • Giant Blade: Warriors gain +30% -> +25% range

Damage Tracker Update (1.1.3)

This update introduces a new tab in the damage tracker, along with some small balance tweaks, and some bug fixes.

Damage Tracker


The damage tracker now has two tabs: one for total damage, and one for damage dealt in the past 15 seconds. You can freely swap between the two views. Viewing the damage dealt by each tower in the past 15 seconds is useful for determining which units are doing well, and which might be underperforming.

Balance



  • Enemy scaling past 20 minutes has been reduced
  • Outlaw - no longer generates gold, but is now more effective at dealing damage
  • Scarecrow - attack speed and attack radius has been increased, damage has been slightly lowered
  • Arsonist - damage increased, max enemies hit increased
  • Imp - damage increased, max enemies hit increased
  • Prisoner - attack speed increased, level 3 effect improved from 2->3 chains


Misc.



  • Fixed an issue where selecting the Helping Hand item would lock you in the selection window
  • Lowered all sound effect volumes a bit

Tower Limit Removal (1.1.2)

Tower limit past NG+5 has been removed. Along with it, there are some additional QoL changes.

Balance



  • Tower limit is no longer capped at NG+5
  • Slightly decreased the scaling of enemies past 20 minutes
  • Fairness in higher NG difficulties has been improved
  • Average gold generated per level up has been decreased a bit


Quality of Life



  • Damage tracker can now be scrolled so all units can be viewed
  • Class sidebar can now be scrolled so all classes can be viewed
  • Added unit tier and xp progress information in selected menu
  • Decreased the amount that sound effects could overlap

Minor Patch (1.1.1)

A few adjustments have been made:

  • A new font is available, switch to it in the options menu
  • Solar Knight's level 3 ability damage has been lowered (30%->15%)
  • NG selection has been moved to the main menu from the options menu
  • Units with 0 damage dealt are not shown in the damage tracker

Major Pacing Update (1.1.0)


This update significantly adjusts the pacing of the game as well as introduces important bug fixes.

Changes:



Pacing



  • The amount of time you need to survive to get a "win" has been reduced to 20 minutes
  • Rate of enemy scaling has been adjusted accordingly


General



  • Added the ability to move units around whenever the game is halted
  • Cap max tower limit at NG+5
  • Decrease rate of meta XP gain


Bug Fixes



  • Fixed an issue where Execution was sometimes executing enemies at full health
  • Fixed an issue where units could overlap when placed while the game was halted
  • Fixed an issue where having enough armor pen resulting in dealing negative damage
  • Fixed an issue where Necromancer was summoning too many minions
  • Fixed an issue where selling Warden would result in negative armor
  • Fixed an issue where the effects on selling a unit were not playing properly
  • Fixed descriptions of Gargoyle and Wyvern

Small Patch (1.0.2)

Some adjustments have been made:

Balance:

  • Gargoyle: Now attacks without needing to take damage. Instead, its attack cooldown will be reset after taking damage.
  • Enemy scaling after 30 minutes increased
  • XP to level up increased at later levels


Bug fixes:

  • Fixed a bug where units in the shop could not be hovered sometimes
  • Fixed a bug where “Zapped” achievement was not tracked properly
  • Fixed a bug where certain resolution monitors could see off the screen
  • Fixed a bug where screen shake would not stop during item select screen

QoL Update

Some quality of life improvements have been added to the game:

  • Added a feature to "halt" the game. You can use the shop, but the game will be effectively paused. Default hotkey is W on the keyboard
  • Added a feature to view and edit hotkeys in options menu
  • Added the ability to hide the upgrade screen to view the field
  • Adjusted meta upgrades to be easier to obtain
  • Shop will automatically be open at the start of a run
