Team Modern! Team Ancient! You have all raced fearlessly. We know the ancient stoics and the modern muscle men are proud of your efforts. But only one team can come out on top…
And Team Modern is victorious!
All members of the winning team will receive an exclusive skin, sticker and banner so they can forever remind the world of this day in Fling history.
Additions:
Players on the winning team will automatically receive an exclusive skin, sticker and banner.
Changes:
The speed-boosting rings and javelins have been removed from the multiplayer race and tournament modes. Ring-a-thon itself will continue to be a permanent gamemode in the campaign. (If you enjoyed the speed-boosting rings and javelins in multiplayer races let us know because they might be returning as an optional feature).
The Fling-a-thon event art and music has been removed from the main menu.

Fling-a-thon Extension
Team Modern! Team Ancient! The competition is still neck and neck.
We’ve decided to extend the Fling-a-thon community event one more week until August 15th. We put in a lot of work into the event so we’d like you all to get to experience it for a little bit longer!
This event has been the most fun our team has had playing with the community. It’s been a blast seeing so many new players in matchmaking during our sale.
One more week! Who will win?
Fling-a-thon Hotfix Patch
Balancing Changes:
Reduced the overall XP gained from playing matchmaking tournaments
Increased the overall XP gained from playing private or offline tournaments
Bug Fixes:
Fixed: pedestal screen shows rogue/extra player banners with the name “Gettin_Jiggy_35” and overlaps all other menus if the pedestal screen is opened after completing a tournament where one or more players disconnected
Fixed: non-hosts are unable to exit out of the customization screen if the host leaves the unlockables menu
Fixed one instance of the infinite black screen on launch issue which happened because some devices failed to play the intro video and kept retrying to play it indefinitely
The Fling-a-thon is here!
Fling-a-thon Introduction: (Live from July 25th to August 8th) The first annual Fling-a-thon is the most complete Community Competition to date! You must choose between Team Modern or Team Ancient. Which sports era will win!? Choosing a team will grant you themed Skins and now Stickers and Banners as well so you can really customize how you’ll show off your team spirit.
Fling-a-thon Tournaments: Earn points for your team by competing in 3-race Tournaments. Tournaments can be played in Matchmaking, but now, they can also be played in Private Race (local and online). Tournaments now conclude with a victory celebration where the winning team will take to the pedestal and make their opponents bask in their Fling-glory!
New Gamemode: Ring-a-thon! Introducing a brand new gamemode for Campaign. Ring-a-thon! Blast through speed-boosting rings while dodging javelin attacks from above! The speed-boosting rings send the player soaring over previously troublesome obstacles and hitting speeds never before reachable.
Our team loves how the boost-rings really turn the level-design on its head. It’s extremely satisfying to master completely new routes at such high speeds. It’s extremely addictive to speed run.
Fling-a-thon Ring Race: For the duration of the event, all races (including 3-Race Tournaments and one-shot Races) will feature the speed-boosting rings and javelins from the Ring-a-thon gamemode. This will spice up the normal multiplayer races with the death-defying speed of the boost-rings and intensity of the javelins.
Progression System: This update brings a leveling and progression system we’re really proud of! Gone are the days of slowly unlocking new characters in Campaign and Campaign alone. Now you have a Rank which you can increase by getting Experience Points from doing well in any gamemode in Fling!
Every rank you progress grants you an Unlock Token which can be redeemed in a fully functional Rube-Goldberg-like contraption in the 3D menu. The contraption presents you with 3 capsule-toys filled with either a Character, Skin, Sticker or Banner! But only 1 of the 3 rewards can be yours! Choose wisely!
Player Banners: What’s a Sticker or Banner you ask? You can now customize how you represent yourself online with funny and stylish Banners and Stickers. Your Rank is also displayed on your banner so you can show off your experience and gain worldly prestige!
Fling-a-thon Rewards: The winning team of the Fling-a-thon will receive an exclusive skin, sticker and banner so they can forever remind their opponents of this day in Fling history. What day in history you may ask? August 8th, the end of the event.
Mac Release: Fling’s Mac version is finally released in early access! We’re excited to reach all those new players out there. Tell your friends! If you run into any issues, feel free to reach out on the Steam Forum or our Discord Channel.
Frequently Asked Questions: I’ve played Fling to the Finish before. How will the new progression system affect my previous progression? While you will start at level 0 along with newer players, you will keep all the characters and skins you’ve already unlocked. Anything you didn’t unlock from the old campaign progression will now be available to unlock from the new progression system!
What about the racetracks that I unlocked before this update? All racetracks and gamemodes that you already unlocked will stay unlocked. The racetrack and gamemode progression system is unchanged.
Quality of Life improvements:
Players can now return to the previous menu by holding a button on their controller or keyboard instead of physically moving to the back button and sticking to it
3D menu buttons that have an alternate hold input now take less time to activate when that input is held
Bug Fixes: Fixed a bug where respawning a team with one player still sticking to a surface would sometimes cause that player to teleport back to the surface they were stuck to before respawning Fixed a bug where “Press A or Space to join” prompt would never disappear in certain instances Fixed a bug where players would not be able to control their single character using a mouse in the main menu
Online Bug Fixes
Hey Flingers! With the new level out, we thought now would be a good time to crack down on all the current major bugs! A lot of players brought up online desync issues in Worms in Space and other levels which appear to get worse the longer you play. These issues are fixed! There are many other bug fixes, optimizations and improvements so feel free to check them out below.
Quality of Life improvements:
Improved the tutorial before the main menu to better explain all the different ways you can create a team online and locally.
Optimizations:
Reduced the size of many textures in Perilous Paradise which were increasing the game’s download size unnecessarily.
Fixed an issue where multiple cameras were rendering on top of each other during level cinematics. This will improve performance on medium and low end machines.
Optimized all Water and Fog shaders which should improve performance on low end machines.
Bug Fixes:
Fixed a major issue where the level loaded after Perilous Paradise would become unplayable online due to desync.
Fixed a major issue where Worms in Space would become unplayable online due to desync.
Fixed many levels which would sometimes become unplayable due to online desync (Pharaoh’s Freeway, Pete’s Play Palace, Haunted Highway, Winding Woods, Perilous Paradise).
Fixed a major issue where returning to the team setup screen would break if a player left during the race.
Removed many game breaking shortcuts in the Perilous Paradise level.
Fixed issue where a series of random letters will appear over another player’s head instead of their Steam username.
For new players, settings in the Online Tab will now start at their correct defaults (displaying names over other characters is now the default).
In the Demo, the time left in the demo will be displayed in the main menu again (this was accidently removed during the original 3D Menu update).
Your Username will no longer appear in your own friend’s list.

New Level: Perilous Paradise!
Hello Everyone!
We have a brand new level for you along with some essential improvements to the 3D menu!
Perilous Paradise: Avast ye! Our lead level designer, Andre, did an amazing job with the new level. Your journey begins on a pirate ship sailing on the open seas. Get your booty to the cannon to be the first Flinger blasted off onto shore. Traverse the beachy jungle but be wary of the sand beneath your feet, for a crab can strike at any moment. Man the cannon on the shore and blast off again straight into the open air. But what’s this? A rumbling from down under reveals a beach resort right in the center of an active volcano. What madness! You must scale the treacherous volcano and get through the lava-filled resort if you want to claim victory.
New Content:
Perilous Paradise: 1 race mode and 2 campaign modes.
New Character to be unlocked in Campaign Progression.
Quality of Life improvements:
New and improved Game Invite screen
User interface visual improvements.
Your steam friends are now organized based on whether or not they are currently playing Fling.
The mouse cursor now only displays when you start moving the mouse. This avoids a lot of annoying scenarios where it was getting in the way.
Room code can now be copied by clicking on it or by pressing CTRL + V. This works even if the room code is hidden which is useful for streamers.
Added a new Online tab in the Settings screen
Added option to toggle other player names over their characters in levels
Added option to toggle the current player's name over their characters in levels
Added option to toggle an arrow indicating the current player's characters in levels
Moved Room Code Visibility option from General to Online settings
Moved Server Region dropdown option from General to Online settings
Bug Fixes: Alt-tabbing out of the game will no longer keep the mouse cursor locked to the game window Friend invites can no longer be spammed Some buttons in the 3D menu no longer remain non-interactive for the new host after the previous host leaves
See you "in paradise", Team Splitside & Daedalic Entertainment
Partner Matchmaking
Hey Flingers! This is the most exciting update for our team yet!
Partner Matchmaking: Our most requested feature is here! Partner Matchmaking! If you’re a player who’s a bit lacking in the gamer-friend department then you’re in luck. Partner Matchmaking allows you to queue up into random matchmaking all by yourself and you’ll be matched up with a partner. You can play through the Campaign with that partner but you can also queue up into Race mode all by yourself as well.
3D Menu: The main menu and specifically the team setup screen has always been a huge thorn in the side of new players. With this update we completely remade the main menu from the ground up. Gone are the days of navigating a boring 2D dimensional menu. Now, you control the entire menu by rolling around your Flinger and sticking to buttons to select them. Not only is it a lot of fun (watch out for the TNT) but it’s a lot easier to set up teams this way! Other Improvements: You can now queue up for Campaign Matchmaking where previously you could only matchmake in Race mode. You can invite friends anywhere in the main menu where previously you could only invite them in the team setup screen. There is a tutorial the first time you load up the new menu which shows you the controls and how to navigate the menu.
What’s Next: In the next update we’re adding a lot of quality of life improvements to help you interact with the new players you’ll be matchmaking with. This will mean being able to identify other players by their Steam name more frequently and easily send them friend invites so you can play with them whenever you like.
Best Regards, Daedalic Entertainment & Team Splitside Bug Fixes:
Upgraded Unity version from 2019.4.29f1 to 2019.4.30f1 to fix a Unity sided crash on launch issue on certain dual screen setups (more details here: https://issuetracker.unity3d.com/issues/build-crashes-when-launching-via-cmd-with-monitor-2-while-the-two-monitors-have-different-monitor-scale)
Now more Graphics APIs can be used depending on your device: DirectX11 (previously the only available API), OpenGLCore, OpenGLES2, OpenGLES3, and Vulkan. Unity will automatically determine the best Graphics API to utilize for each device. This change should not make any difference, but it may fix level loading issues reported by a few players.
Patch 0.8.0.45
Bugfixes: - Disabled debug FPS and network ping displays
