Fling to the Finish

Did you know we have Steam Remote Play?

Heyho everyone,

How's it flinging? We have seen that some of you have a difficult time, finding the right players at the right moment - so we wanted to give you a push, or should we dare to say "fling" you onto the easiest way of playing with your friends: Steam Remote Play - even if they don't own the game themselves!

Wait, what? Playing with your friends and you are the only one that has to own the game? Yes - here is how it works:

Remote Play Together

  • Launch your game.
  • Go to the character selection / invite screen of the mode you want to play
  • Make sure your friend is logged in to Steam from a supported device.
  • Open your Steam Overlay in-game (Shift+Tab).
  • From your friends list, right-click your friend and select 'Remote Play Together'.
  • Once your friend accepts the invite, they will be in-game with you.

Want to know more about how it works, instead of jumping right into the game? You can find out more here.

Major Patch - Matchmaking Improvements and China Fixes

We've improved Matchmaking so you can now find matches throughout the whole world rather than just your local region. With 13 regions across the world that means you're now 13x times more likely to find a match! Our team is so excited to play with you all!

We've also fixed a Major issue for our Chinese players where they were being placed in the Mainland China servers because their Operating System is Chinese even though they aren't located in Mainland China. You should now correctly connect to Mainland China if that's where you are located. If you're still not, see the next paragraph:

We've also given the player the option to switch their Server Region in the Settings menu. You can switch between Mainland China and All Other Regions. We HIGHLY recommend you leave this setting set to the default, but this setting will be helpful for players who want to play with friends in the other region.

These are the three major improvements, but the full patch notes are below.

Thank you so much for your patience. Hope you have fun!

Full Patch Notes
Improvements

  1. Players can now choose to connect to Mainland China or All Other Regions in the settings menu. This will be helpful for players trying to connect with friends into and out of China but it may produce connectivity issues.
  2. Matchmaking is greatly improved so that players can find matches in all the regions around the world and not just the region they are located in. Players connected to “All Other Regions” will not be connected to Chinese matches and players connected to “Mainland China” will not be connected to matches in other parts of the world.
  3. Matchmaking is limited to 3 races in a row so that players are reintroduced into the matchmaking pool to make matchmaking run more smoothly.
  4. Turkey and South Africa: Enabled dedicated servers in Turkey and South Africa. Now that these servers are enabled, players that live in these regions must update to this patch.

Bug Fixes

  1. Fixed bug where Chinese players were mistakenly being placed in Mainland China even though they are located outside of Mainland China.
  2. Fixed bug where non-latin names incorrectly displayed on the Friend Invite, Matchmaking, and Leaderboard screens.
  3. Fixed bug that was introduced in the last patch where acorns in Windy Woods are glowing.
  4. Fixed a few issues where the UFO would take a team backwards in Wet Willy’s.

Major Known Issues

  1. Sometimes players may briefly disconnect from the servers and get a pop-up notification that they aren't connected to the internet. If this happens in matchmaking, you can restart matchmaking without any issues. We're working hard to find the cause of this issue.

New Patch 0.8.18

Hey everyone,

thank you so much for playing Fling to the Finish! It has been amazing to see all of your feedback. Many records have been broken, many characters unlocked and of course many teammates flinged to reach the finish line.

We are aware that there are still some technical problems in the current Early Access version that prevented you from having the best time possible.

This first patch addresses a lot of these issues and ensures a better experience for everyone. But we don’t stop here. We are already hard at work on the next patch that will arrive early next week. For that, we want to make improvements to matchmaking and address the server issues some of you are experiencing.

Once all of these issues have been ironed out, we will add more content to the game. We will share more details on our first major update very soon. In the meantime, make sure to check our official Roadmap for more details:

Thank you for your patience and continuous support. We hope that you enjoy the game! Keep on flinging!

Full Patch Notes
Improvements

  1. Turkey and South Africa: Enabled dedicated servers in Turkey and South Africa.
  2. Character Select: only available characters will be shown (to the extent that it is possible). Locked characters will not be shown, and if possible, characters that have already been taken by other players will also not be shown, while cycling through characters to pick them.
  3. Character Select: Added two new skins that are unlocked by default to help give more options in lobbies that have unlocked any extra characters yet.
  4. Lobby screen: players now have to hit the “A” button on their controllers to join them in the lobby screen. This will help with bugs where some people are unable to control the game at all in the menus. It will also help make the lobby screen more consistent with how keyboards join.
  5. China: All “Discord” options will be removed if the player owns the Chinese version because Discord doesn’t work in China. Other social media icons are also disabled.
  6. If the player is trying to find players through matchmaking for a long time, they will be shown a message that there might not be enough players in their region at the moment.

Bug Fixes

  1. Localization: Invite friends screen: non-Latin text based player names would appear as squares.
  2. Localization: Leaderboards screen: - non-Latin text based player names would appear as squares.
  3. Gameplay: golf/square in the hole gates would get de-synced and not unlock for all players in online mode.
  4. Gameplay: The UFO ability now chooses the correct position to start moving down the racetrack. It will no longer take teams backwards.

Bug Improvements
Respawning while stuck to physics objects would cause the objects to freak out in online mode. This should happen much less often now.

Fling to the Finish's Early Access Release

Hey everyone, Fling to the Finish is out now on Early Access!

We can’t wait for you all to fling your friends around.

If you want to get more people playing the game and to have a good time, spread the word! Sharing the game with friends will help build our community and get more people flinging.

In Fling to the Finish teams of two players race through colorful, chaotic obstacle courses while tethered by a stretchy elastic rope. Depending on your communication skills, this rope can be your greatest asset or your worst enemy - just like the friend you’re tethered to. Because you're literally attached to your partner, Fling to the Finish is a truly cooperative experience. Masters of the rope use it to swing around perilous obstacles, and fling their partner up ledges seconds before they fall to their doom. And when you and your friend have earned the experience to call yourself a true veteran-duo, prepare for some astonishing acrobatic feats.

Your friendslist is empty or everyone on it is sleeping? No Problem! Check out our brand new Discord Community opened up for you to find players - or rivals!

Early Access means to us that we plan to further improve the game experience by adding new content like new maps, game modes, characters and more over the course of the Early Access period, and also invest in polishing and balancing, using the feedback of you - our community.

Hope you all have a great time playing and let’s get the bright future of Fling to the Finish rolling!
