Hi there!



In this weekly progress update we'd like to share with you the latest news of the game development.


  • Added flag for the helper to enable/disable via script;
  • Added mechanism of smashing beasts by pushing the wagon;
  • Added refactor stories output, skipping text and slides;
  • Changed alpha of blur layer for deep undergrounds;
  • Added simplify of anger and HP mods logic.


And a few new NPCs added:

  • NPC Cactus ghost that scares enemies;
  • Padre NPC char;
  • NPC Splinter + Pixel art update;
  • NPC Survivor;

Flippin Kaktus - Progress Update #2

Hi there!



In this weekly progress update we'd like to share with you the latest news of the game development.

Updated game core - player progress save, statistics, records, delete some progress on a new game:

  • Added rare power-ups that modify the character's health and rage;
  • Added game finished, level and max level settings;
  • Added level statistics after completion;
  • Added enemy kills counter, powerup counter, time counter, and player deaths counter;
  • Added refactor settings and default settings.


And a few other updates:

  • Adjusted blood particles flow when filled by a dash and / bullet;
  • Added camera mechanism - pan, move to, move to a player;
  • Added Ghost helper function;
  • Ghost attack - sound FX added;

Flippin Kaktus - Progress Update #1

Hi there!



In this weekly progress update we'd like to share with you the latest news of the game development.


  • Added PostFX for the main menu;
  • Set horizon levels for the birds to prevent flying on and under the ground;
  • Added bounce effect for TNT/grenade;
  • Added zoom in / zoom out camera mechanism.


Few dialogue improvements:

  • Dialogue mechanism - enabled widescreen stripes and initialization talk sequence;
  • Added the mechanism for turning off the music volume during the dialogue, and turning it on after.
  • Correction player's position when the dialogue starts in front of NPC;

Short but important update for us!

Flippin Kaktus goes to DevGamm in about a month.
We received quiet good feedback at Digital Dragons this year, but guess what - it gets better every day!

Looking forward to see you at Showcase, present unseen features and majorly updated gameplay and maybe even fantasize about concrete release date ;)

Thug city level and Robo armor



Hey there amigos!

Long time no see, right? Buried in tasks and feature updates rushing towards you:
Gene K is here with another dev diary session and some general updates from the Flippin world!

We're finalizing thug city level, which was really really a challenge, but sure is inspiring and rewarding (in XP and more inspiration).

We've added 2 new armors: one is a heavy barrel that reflects bullets and smashed enemies below. Another one is inspired by sci-fi action masterpiece from 1987 - Robocop. It's a bit bizzare when you know that game action happens in 1984, but it's fun, just let it go!



This badass Robo suit allows Kaktus to use actual weaponry and has decent shielding that protects from bullets, fire and even missiles, launched from the brand new missile turrets.

What's next? We're going back to 1914 to create levels in mountain area where Kaktus learns to handle a shot of tequila and fight back those rascals.
