Post-Release Update #2 - New technologies and more…
Hi there!
It's Friday and, just like I promised, I have a new update for you!
But first things first! I want to thank you all for your continuous support and for keeping an eye on the development of Flooded. The game wouldn't look as good as it does now without your dedication. You’re the best!
Now, on to the exciting stuff!
I've added two new technologies - Cryptology and Z Virus - as well as a new component called the Dark Performance Screw. What do they do? You need to check it out yourself, but I’m sure they’ll be an exciting addition to Flooded, especially in the later stages of the game!
I’ve also fixed some of the bugs that were reported over the past few days. Flooded should now provide more fun and fewer frustrating moments that could make the game less enjoyable.
The full changelog is listed below:
New features:
- 2 new technologies (Cryptology + Z Virus) - 1 new component (Dark Performance Screw) - 2 new decorations on Toxic Ocean - You can now purchase iron in exchange for copper or lead using trade menu - Now you can have a maximum of 20 technologies at the same time instead of just 10
Bugs fixed:
- Issue with oil spills spawning in strange patterns - Bug related to building range not covering the whole island is now less frequent - Game progress is now saved less often, which should reduce the likelihood of corrupting save files - Now land tiles should always have the right appearance based on their adjacency to the ocean - Artificial grounds built around the shore shouldn't now reduce the island's building range - Diamond Pickaxe relic can no longer be used to mine resources while the time is stopped using active pause
Lastly, thanks everyone for leaving a review on Steam. I'll be back with more updates soon, and I hope that today's one is to your liking!
Can you believe it's been a whole week since I released Flooded? Time flies! I wanted to use this opportunity to reflect on the past days and share my own impressions on the launch.
Firstly, I'm thrilled with how everything went and I'm over the moon that so many of you played my game. At its peak, 74 people were playing simultaneously, which is an amazing result! What's even better is that, even though it's been several days now, there are still at least a dozen people playing the game almost constantly!
Reviews 🎮
You know what’s exciting? Flooded has been making waves in the gaming world! It's been featured on some of the biggest gaming sites out there, including:
📰 PC Gamer
“I faced some tricky choices as I played: if there's a copper node close to shore, should I set up a mine on it to quickly extract as much as I can? Or should I leave it and build my factory further inland where I know the building won't be swallowed by the ocean within the next few minutes?”
📰 Destructoid
“For being a rather unique premise, Flooded offers a very tight and polished experience. It’s the sort of thing where I’m afraid that if you either add something or take it away, it will stop working. Just a terrific execution of its thesis. I’m not certain it will necessarily soak your socks like some more expansive builders might, but your time spent stranded will be worthwhile.”
📰 Even the Financial Times!
“It’s a compelling combination of base-building, tower defence and real-time strategy whose procedurally generated maps, different modes and £10 price tag more than make up for its relatively short campaign length. And its combination of human and environmental threats is an effective reminder that when it comes to the climate, we are often our own worst enemies.”
In addition, many well-known creators (like Raptor, Orbital Potato or Lutel) have streamed the game!
Can you believe it? I still can't!
Thank you! 🙏🏽
Once more, I wanted to send a big thank you to everyone who's been playing Flooded and sharing their thoughts on Steam. Your support means everything to me. I also want to encourage you to leave reviews, as they really help the game reach new people.
Finally, I'm excited to announce that a new update will be released this Friday! It will add some content and fix a couple of the bugs you've been telling me about.
Thanks again for your support, and I can't wait to see you all in the game! Tymek
If you think that after the game's release, you can just relax and take it easy, you're very wrong. It's an intense period, but every message from you gives me a better boost than coffee (although I think I drink too much of it...).
But the main reason why I’m writing this post is that I wanted to let you know that Flooded is part of the Earth Appreciation Festival 2023! The event will be live from today until next Monday, April 24th.
During this entire time, Flooded will be still available at a discount, and there will be a banner on the game card, leading to other awesome games from the Festival - make sure you check them out!
Lastly, I'd like to thank everyone who's played Flooded and remind you that it would be awesome if you left a review on Steam - especially if you're having a good time playing the game!
I know Flooded may seem like a simple game (looking at the art style!), but it can sometimes get tricky, especially when you hear the siren and your buildings are about to disappear in the ocean… To give you a headstart, I’ve prepared a couple of hints that I hope will help you flow (pun intended) through the levels! 🙂
Remember to build enough Quarters, as they provide you with Miners. To gather resources you need:
It’s crucial that you obtain enough Miners to fill all jobs and supply them with the right amount of Water.
Don’t forget about upgrading buildings from the Action category. A Workshop or Lumber Mill on level 3 can cover even the entire island!
Think 3 steps ahead - build Embankments, while you still have space. Later on you’ll have to rely on Artificial Ground, which is more expensive.
Avoid cutting down trees around your Miners’ Base - they can cover your base from enemy fire.
Learn about your Commander and Relict - not using their perks can make the playthrough more difficult.
When you think everything is lost, try to uncover Mystery Spots on/under the ground or on the ocean. An epic chest may end up saving your run.
When leveling and upgrading buildings, start with those farthest from the shore. The ones by the ocean will probably get flooded anyway.
When you can see that the next flood will take away some buildings, destroy them. This way you’ll at least get back half of the resources used to build them.
Use shortcut buttons, especially for leveling and destroying buildings. These can be found on the right side of the bottom menu. Once you click on one of them, you will be able to pick which buildings should be upgraded or destroyed. This way you won’t have to click on every single building and upgrade/destroy them from the building’s menu.
New features: - Now you can skip splash screens with logos by pressing Space, Enter, Escape or LMB - Embankment and Defensive Dam can be now demolished in destroying mode - 1 new landmark-type decoration on North Ocean
Balance changes: - Time till each flood is now a bit longer in all difficulty modes - Rain global effect has now less significant effect on flood meter speed
Bugs fixed: - Fixed small white dot appearing close to Lead Open-Pit Mines - Now 'Reinforcement' technology affects also already built buildings - Fixed Water Pump visual glitch in upgrading mode while using flattened view - Water Filters are now being flattened in flattened view, as all other objects - Now idle miners number can't be negative (but there may be still some other issues related to miners) - Now Ore deposit underground can't be put in 'hidden' state by obstacles on the surface
Other changes: - Updated credits
If you encounter any bug, don't forget to let us know about it. Have fun!
Balance changes and first fixes - post-release update is here!
Gamers!
These past few days have been absolutely crazy! But now the dust has settled and I have the first update for you.
Before I tell you more about the changes, I want to thank all of you for your support, feedback, reviews (especially those on Steam - they mean the world to me) and just for playing Flooded. I am so happy to see that the reception has been positive. It is incredibly helpful in shaping the future of the game.
Update
Now moving on to the update. The most important change involves balancing. Our goal was to make the game challenging. The rising water is supposed to create pressure, so that players need to act fast. However, we can now see that not everyone is enjoying this as much as we do. Because of that I have extended the time for the flood meter to fill and I have reduced the impact of rain on the flood meter (on all difficulty levels). I’m hoping this will make the experience more enjoyable.
I have also added some quality-of-life features: the ability to skip splash screens when launching the game, the possibility to demolish Embankment and Defensive Dam, North Ocean now has 1 new landmark type decoration.
Keep an eye out for further updates and in the meantime, here’s a full changelog:
New features: - Now you can skip splash screens with logos by pressing Space, Enter, Escape or LMB - Embankment and Defensive Dam can be now demolished in destroying mode - 1 new landmark-type decoration on North Ocean
Balance changes: - Time till each flood is now a bit longer in all difficulty modes - Rain global effect has now less significant effect on flood meter speed
Bugs fixed: - Fixed small white dot appearing close to Lead Open-Pit Mines - Now 'Reinforcement' technology affects also already built buildings - Fixed Water Pump visual glitch in upgrading mode while using flattened view - Water Filters are now being flattened in flattened view, as all other objects - Now idle miners number can't be negative (but there may be still some other issues releated to miners) - Now Ore deposit underground can't be put in 'hidden' state by obstacles on the surface
Other changes: - Updated credits

Thank you!
In the end, I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has supported me throughout the development of Flooded. Now the journey continues, and I will spend the coming days and weeks making small improvements and implementing your feedback!
I'm so proud and grateful for the opportunity to share Flooded with you. Thank you for being a part of it!

Cheers and see you on Wednesday :)
The Final Countdown
Gamers!
It's been a while, hasn't it? This is because the weeks leading up to the release are the period where I practically don't stop polishing the game and coding, polishing and coding, poli... You get me, right? One can go insane!
Nevertheless, I'm coming to you today because there is only one week left until the release. That's right - we're finally counting down (*in Bon Jovi's voice*), and there are only seven days until Flooded will be available!
Do you want to join me in this important event and be one of the first to try your skills against the mighty forces of nature? Well, if so - don't forget to mark your calendars!
Set a reminder above and don't miss out on the opportunity to survive on a shrinking island, as the waters rise around you.
It’s one of those days when I have to tell you something sad. I’ve decided to change the release date for Flooded - we are now moving to April 12th.
I understand that this news may be disappointing to many of you, but over the last 2 weeks I ran additional rounds of tests and I would like to use this time to implement the feedback. I realized that I’m not utilizing the full potential of Commanders and Relics, therefore I will be adding more of them, which will require additional balancing.
I want to ensure that the game is of the highest quality and meets your expectations!
I would also like to stress that besides the above features Flooded is ready for launch, so April 12th will be the final date. I can’t wait to see how you’ll cope with the flood! Thank you for your patience and continued support.
