Hey Hunters!
As a thank you from the team at Liquid Donkey Games, we want to give you, the player, the ability to vote on the third hunt in Folklore Hunter.

We've had the Wendigo in 'Night of the Wendigo' and the Vampiric Strigoi in 'Bloodfang Forest'. Now, we want to hear what you think the third cryptid should be.

Each cryptid will be paired with a specific environment related to its folklore. We have some initial concept art showing the general design of the creature and environment. However, it should be noted that these will not be the final design and may be subject to change.

The three candidates we have chosen for this hunt include the legendary Mothman of West Virginia, the elusive Chupacabra in the jungles of South-America, and the mysterious Rake lurking in the icy forests of Poland...

Folklore Hunter 0.8

Hey everybody! The long awaited 0.8 Crypt update for Bloodfang Forest is finally here! We've been working long and hard since the last update and can't wait for you guys to play the finished version of Bloodfang Forest. We've redesigned several locations, improved many more and created the Crypt: a new location in Bloodfang Forest housing the origin of the curse plaguing the mountain...

  • Flashlight will now flicker and dim when entering Bloodfang crypt

  • Walking animation slower when crouched

  • Adjusted foliage around NOTW ritual site for easier interactions
  • Added skippable main menu animation
  • Added a message for new players joining a multiplayer session
  • Many sounds now realistically decrease in volume when heard through walls
  • Recommended player count and hunt length added to main menu


Bugfixes



  • Weapons and equipment no longer clip through walls when too close
  • Rifle bullets can no longer be blocked by trees/bushes
  • Removed floating sphere from Bloodfang Sky
  • NOTW note transparency fixed

  • Totem rotation now rotates clockwise consistently

Hello hunters!

This is just a small hotfix to address some of the issues that have been reported in the last week related to the release of 0.7 - Hope you enjoy!

Changelog



  • Strigoi's can no longer hunt and kill eachother
  • Weather has been disabled while we investigate the cause of rendering issues
  • Altered the duration of the Strigoi's bat form
  • Scream attack has been made clearer, and nolonger does damage to the player
  • Altered the locations of some of the notes in Bloodfang
  • Fixed an issue causing escape to not skip the introduction cutscenes correctly.

Hello hunters!

Time for another update, this time around we have spent a lot of time expanding and updating the Bloodfang map with new locations, clues, and discoveries to be unearthed. There are also many more features including a visual overhaul for the Strigoi (spoiler tag below). Also included are a bunch of bug fixes and quality of life fixes. Hope you enjoy!

Bloodfang Forest



  • Story and gameplay overhaul
  • Creation mechanic for new items

Strigoi



  • Complete visual overhaul

Folklore Hunter 0.6

Hello hunters!

Time for another update, this time around we have some new awesome features including a new weapon, stealth system and the much requested voice chat! Also included are a bunch of bug fixes and quality of life fixes. Hope you enjoy!



Also, a few people have been wondering why the update frequency is a little slower as of late. This is due to most of the development time being spent on finishing off the Bloodfang Forest hunt. Many of the changes made to this hunt still live in the development version of the game and will be released all at once. To keep you all in the loop we have completely redesigned the look and behavior of the Strigoi (vampires) and redesigned the gameplay and story from the ground up. This was a monumental undertaking but progress has been steady and the content is almost complete. I'm hoping to have this finished and released within the next month so stay tuned for that!



Changelog:



  • Added proximity based voice chat. Default is push to talk on the V key, but can be changed in the options menu. There may still be some instability with the voice chat that can be fixed in future updates after player feedback has been collated.
  • Added new crossbow weapon available in Bloodfang Forest.
  • Added fall damage.
  • Added stealth system that allows the player to hide from creatures and monitor their visibility. Keep in mind turning on your flashlight at nighttime is very easy to see...
  • Added ability for player to crouch which reduces their visibility.
  • Added new clues to cave system in Night of the Wendigo to help players find their way out easier.
  • Added "Toggle Sprint" setting to the options menu under controls.
  • Some interactions now take time to perform such as opening a crate or helping up a downed player.
  • Fixed bug that caused infinite ammo as a client.
  • Fixed bug that caused equipment to be shown floating after a player was downed.
  • Fixed cave geometry issue that allowed players to fall through the roof of the cave in the Night of the Wendigo map.
  • Fixed UI issue that made some inventory slots unclickable on smaller screen sizes.
  • Fixed some decals rendering onto player in Bloodfang Forest.
  • Fixed issue that caused hotbar item count and inventory item counts to become out of sync.
  • Fixed mouse sensitivity slider not working in the options menu.

Folklore Hunter 0.5e - Hotfix

Hi guys, there were a few issues with the latest update brought to my attention so I have put together a small hotfix to address these problems.

Changelog



  • Fixed spamming escape to skip the intro cause the game to soft-lock and never recover.
  • Fixed aggression and pathfinding issues with the Wendigo introduced in the latest update.
  • Fixed various bodies of water not rendering on lower graphics settings.
  • Fixed not being able to place items when close to one of the new 'point of interest' markers (the question marks on the map).

Folklore Hunter 0.5d

Hi guys, time for another update! This time my focus has been on hardening and bugfixes. I've been working very hard over the last few weeks to fix as many issues as possible and add a few new quality of life changes. There is also a few sneaky changes to the wendigo and some of the AI, so keep an eye out!

  • Wendigo is now baited by meat
  • The cabin door can now be opened and closed
