Patch V1.10 release date and time confirmed!

Dear all,

Foresight patch V1.10 will be released on 28th October, 1200 hrs PDT (San Francisco time). That is approximately, 20 hours from the time of this announcement.

After that, there'll be minor patches that will be released without announcements for any additional contents added along the way. The only difference is that the version you see in the main menu will be something like V1.10a, V1.10b, etc etc.

Thanks for your patience!

Jeremy

Patch V1.10 Update - 6 days left to patch deployment!

Hi all,

This should be our final update before the patch is released. A few more features have been added into the final version of the patch based on feedback and suggestions.

We've always taken suggestions and feedbacks seriously. Even if we didn't manage to implement it now, we might do so over time.

A few things to look forward to:
1) You can now know how much damage you're really doing per second. Due to the complex nature of every ships' weaponry, cooldowns and characteristics, the estimation may not be 100% accurate. The purpose is to give an idea.

Naturally, every ship will have an engagement radius and a maximum weapon range radius. Therefore, there'll be a minimum damage per second where only the ship's longest ranged weapon can damage the enemy. The maximum damage is also known as the maximum exposure damage where almost all turrets can be brought to bear upon the target.

2) You can also see how much damage you'll be taking lesser in percentage.

Do note that this applies after damage type calculations are done.

3) Camera, while rotating, can now change its elevation. Don't worry, there'll be a null-zone that is reasonable enough that elevation isn't changed at the slightest movement.

I wish I could elaborate more but I won't want to spoil your fun!

Thanks for your support and be assured that when the patch is released, there'll be a complete release note, and there'll be bug fixing patches should there be any problems in the future as well!

P.S. I'll try to put up more images in the next few days!

Regards,
Jeremy

Foresight Steam Cloud space increased

Dear all,

This is just a quick shout out to anyone who might have experienced saving multiple big games and it fails to get through into steam cloud.

We've done a new estimation of the saved game file size and have updated the steam cloud size accordingly.

We apologise for any inconveniences caused and thank you for your support!

V1.10 Release Date

Dear all,

After quite some time, we're finally able to settle on a release date for patch V1.10! Tentatively, it'll be set on the 28th October and will not be any later than this date.

We might actually release earlier this time if the tests go well. Of course, proper testing will take time and we're especially concerned about some of the bugs encountered when a saved game is loaded.

On top of that, some new contents will be added to spice up the campaign as well as the multiplayer.

We're pretty sure the full release logs will be very ... very ... long.

We apologise if you've been waiting since September. We'd rather delay than to deploy a faulty patch.

Thanks for your support as always!

Jeremy

Celestial Disasters confirmed for V1.10 patch!

Dear all,

A quick update. Celestial Disasters WILL be in V1.10 patch. So what exactly it is?

Celestial Disasters

Basically, they're events, albeit temporary, where they can do harm to your ships and the surroundings as well. They'll occur every now and then which may work to your advantage as well.

Sometimes, instead of relying on your own forces, rely on the forces of nature instead to defeat your enemies.

Rate of occurrence

There'll be a default rate of occurrence which is considered fair. The rate itself can be tweaked based on individual missions.

Some disasters are "contagious". They can spread from area to area.

Most disasters will have a warning before they actually occur.

Conclusion

Foresight by V1.10 patch will be a whole lot more exciting to play. It'll also represent the complete vision we have as a whole for the game.

Future patches will thus be on additional contents, bug fixes and so on. There won't be anymore new features added. (some features are still under consideration though *wink*)

Jeremy

V1.10 Beta 1 released under beta staging build!

Dear all,

Finally, the first glimpse of V1.10 is here! This patch features a fixed single player Survival map (which was slightly buggy in V1.09d) as well as a fully functional multiplayer Survival Co-Op map.

This means you can play with your friends against waves of enemy attacks. It is not tower defense per se. You'll still need to decide what works. If you really want to challenge your absolute limits, play HARD.

And if you really want to up the ante, play HARD without the aid of any allied AI players.

The build is currently under Beta [staging] and will not be the main build for everyone just yet.

Known Issues

- If a client enters and leaves and re-enters again, the alliance group of the client may not be reflected when the game begins.
- In some cases, the server might crash. We've already implemented the fix but will need more time to test if it works correctly.

What's left?

- A fully functional Siege Co-Op map that you'll be focusing on attacking enemy entrenchments.
- Fixed the rest of the bugs found in multiplayer.
- Improved campaign missions with more geographic features
- Celestial disasters

Notes

1) V1.09d multiplayer is NOT compatible with V1.10 Beta. You can host but your friends will have to be in [staging] beta build in order to join.

Conclusion

If you don't mind trying the beta, co-op is defintely available in the beta. Any feedback concerning the co-op will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

We're inching closer towards the final bits of the game as envisioned. Please bear with us a little longer. Thanks for understanding and we hope you'll enjoy the beta release (if you opt to try it)!

Thanks,
Jeremy

4v4 Co-Op Survival is almost done... and it's INSANELY difficult

Dear all,

Just a quick update on V1.10 goodies. The 4v4 Co-Op Survival map is almost done and I can say it's extremely difficult even for the best FS players.

While the odds are greatly stacked against you even when you have 3 other allies, it's not impossible to win.

Remember, you do not have to face the enemy fleet head on. You can always lure them away and isolate the fleet commander, then assasinate the commander to take the fleet out of action!

In some cases, fleets will have advisors who will automatically assume command of the fleet. That's where you'll have to assasinate HARDER.

If not, flank and rear attacks or even short bursts of a lightning attack is better than just waiting for them to come in your base.

Besides, not every faction can work well with each other. Many a times I had my outposts irradiated to death by the nearby Sirerian Nuclear Missile cruisers. They're not to be trifled with regardless of friend or foe.

In short, a very exciting patch is coming your way!

P.S. There's one more Co-Op map I'll do - that is the Siege mode where you and your friends will have to punch through multiple heavily guarded bases to win the level. It'll be tough but challenging.

All coming this September! Stay tuned!

Regards,
Jeremy

Major changes coming in September!

Dear all,

Sorry for the apparent lack of announcements over the past few weeks. Work is in progress for V1.10 and will mostly be released at the end of the 1st week of September.

Big changes will be coming for Foresight and Strides Interactive's future games. Please stay tuned and feel free to report any issues found to the forum or if you're shy - please email support@stridesdev.org. We'll definitely hear you out.

P.S. We're already currently writing a script for our next game. Yes it'll be better. Definitely.

Jeremy
