Thats all for today!
Airship Gardening Update Is Live!
Greetings scientists!
As per the title, our largest-ever update, “Airship Gardening” is now live for all. Below are some of the key new features and improvements you can expect from EA.1.5.0.
This is by far the largest update we’ve released since the start of Early Access.
Our team have been working hard on this update since the launch of The Frozen Wishes Update back in December, and there is a lot to see!
Saves
We would highly recommend players start a brand new game to fully experience every new change and addition included in the Airship Gardening update. Such as improved story, locations and world improvements. Your old saves will still work, just you will experience the flow of the new content a little differently.
Your rewards from the Frozen Wishes update are no longer tied to your save files. This means if you unlocked the rewards from the festive quest back in December, they will carry over and be unlockable in any new save you create.
Here is a breakdown of the main additions you can expect from this update and the full patch notes…
Airship Gardening Mechanics
Gardening will play an important role in the game loop, but also the story. If you wish to keep your gardening setup simple and just grow a few crops for food and for the story, you can totally do that. But if you want to go all out with these mechanics and make the most of this mechanic, it’s safe to say you should be able to create some really impressive floating greenhouses!
You will be able to add water tanks, a Distiller for different fertilizers, different size pots, a network of pipes, sprinklers and more!
Different pieces of the new gardening tech can be found in several places across our procedurally generated world. Some of the more basic equipment like pots and water tanks are easier to find as they’re placed in more than one location. However, the more advanced technology like Distillers and Water Generators are a tad more rare. Be sure to check your Studies Menu!
In most cases, you will need to plant the seed for the item you want to grow. This process is relatively pain-free as all perishable items like food, medicine and plants now stack in your inventory.
You can increase the speed at which a plant grows by adding a special fertilizer from the Distiller. This fertilizer is made from Rotten Food (yes, it now has a purpose, yay!) Plants that only grow in the Underdust like Breathnuts and more can also be grown, providing you craft the Dust Fertilizer and add it to the garden pot.
Story Chapter 2 - Hunt For The Cure
CHAPTER 1 RECAP / SPOILERS AHEAD!
The first chapter of our story came to an end with the Viral Evolution update. We found what was left of Noah in the Underdust, followed by his research in the Infected Gardens. With that research we were able to craft a hologram which provided the coordinates to the location of the cure that we have been looking for - as was Noah and the previous expedition before us.
As we mentioned before, gardening will play a role in the next section of the story. In addition, we will also be taking our next trip back down to the surface of the planet.
New Underdust Section - Suburbs
This update features a brand new Underdust map for players to explore, The Suburbs. Players will head here during this latest chapter in search of the elusive cure. This map is roughly 4-times larger than the first Underdust map in Chapter 1 and a lot more open. Thankfully, there are a few landmarks to help players get their bearings in this foggy biome AND a Large Oxygen Bottle to make exploration a lot easier.
We hope you have fun down there!
Down here you will find a lot of new useful items to collect and new blueprints to research and craft. Including new plant seeds, organic substances for special fertilizers, blueprints for Gardening technology and a new upgraded version of the knife, the Aircutter.
A side note on combat…
With a new exciting Underdust biome to explore, Im sure that many players were hoping to exchange blows with Mantis enemies and more with this update. However, we made the difficult decision to temporarily hold off on this feature, but only for now…
While we have got combat working in the development stages, we weren’t 100% happy with it and so have decided to spend more time on this feature so it can be better. We keep a watchful eye on other survival games and so we know how passionate survival game players are about this being done right, which is why this decision was made. In addition, we don’t want combat to be isolated in just this one location, we want it to be bigger and better, so some of our team will be focusing on this after the launch of the Airship Gardening update.
Improved World & Story Progression
Not only have we added new story and content with this update, we have also gone back and made improvements to the world and story that already existed in Forever Skies. This was done to make gameplay more fun and make the story easier to understand. The following was done thanks to your incredible feedback:
Many mission objectives re-written to give players a better and more immersive experience
Mission Reports - summarizing main quest milestones for the player upon returning to the airship from main quest locations
More lore scenes added
Story-related voice lines - from the players "suit AI" added
New cutscenes
Design, art and gameplay improvements to existing locations like Radio Towers, Overgrown Radio Towers, Gardens & Descent Lifts.
City ruins improved visually
Again, we highly recommend players start a fresh save to fully experience all of the above changes. However, if players wish to simply continue from the previous saves and continue the story from where it left off then this is also possible. Your rewards from the Frozen Wishes Update will no longer be affected!
New Airship Module Design - “Bloom Range”
Airship customization is important in Forever Skies. Because of this, we have added our first new Airship modules, the “Bloom Range”.
These modules can be found on our re-worked data card system - more details below in the full patch notes. We are only getting started with new modules. Coming soon we plan to add additional modules like new cockpits, balloons, exterior modules, stairs and more!
Airship Gardening introduces a new cleaner HUD design to players. We decided to update our HUD for a few important reasons:
With the changes made to Immunity a few months ago thanks to your feedback, the immunity Circle on the HUD became redundant as it was no longer a mechanic you would have to manage. Instead, immunity is now tied to the story and will change as a scripted event. Your current immunity status can now be found on the Inventory screen.
Cleaner and easier to understand. Certain icons were not explained well in the old design, such as using boosters or diseases. The new HUD displays this in a much clearer manner
Player parameters with distinguished Stamina/Energy and Radiation Zone alerts.
Please let us know your thoughts on the HUD changes. Do you prefer them? Is it an improvement? We’re listening!
A side note on The Flashlight…
We made some changes to how players acquire the Flashlight in a recent update, EA.1.4.2, and again with this latest update, EA.1.5.0.
We realise that this might have caused some confusion to players over the last few weeks, which we apologize for. So for any players wondering where to find the Flashlight with this new update, to confirm, it can now be found on a dead expedition member on any basic Radio Tower. Check your Studies Menu.
Look out for the signature blue cable, the Flashlight is on top of the corpse.
There are more additions and changes we could go into more detail about, so instead, we have compiled them here in the full patch notes:

Early Access Ends in 2024 | Quality-Of-Life Patch (EA.1.4.2) Is Out Now!
Greetings scientists!
We have quite a few bits of news to share with you today, so buckle up!
1. EARLY ACCESS PLANNED TO COMPLETE IN 2024
Today we announced that our team is on-track to release the full version of Forever Skies in late 2024.
We don’t have an exact day and month for you yet because we ourselves will only know that closer to the end of development. We also need to see how the work and feedback on our next big updates go. But rest assured, once we know and feel the date works for our team we will announce it.
And yes, co-op is still planned to be added before the release of the final version. Our work there is progressing well but we are still adamant that it will be released once we feel it is ready.
2. WE HAVE PARTNERED WITH SONY
Our next big news is that we have partnered with Sony! We have actually been quietly working with them for a few years but today we can make it official.
With their help we have been able to focus on making Forever Skies the best it can be for its console debut. So, at the end of PC Early Access when we're ready to release the full game, we'll be launching it exclusively on PlayStation 5 for consoles and Steam on the same day.
We released a new trailer and got a cool story on PS Blog about the inspiration behind the game. You can check out both here:
3. 20% SALE + RIFTBREAKER BUNDLE
Along with the news and new patch (see the bulk below) we’ve got a 20% sale on Steam right now. We also have our ongoing bundle with The Riftbreaker live still.
The Riftbreaker is what would happen if Diablo and Starcraft had a baby. Mechs, base-building, survival, and hack-and-slash combat all in one. You are an elite scientist/commando inside an advanced Mecha-Suit sent to terraform a hostile alien planet. Hack & slash swarms of enemies, build up your base, collect samples, and research new inventions to survive.
If you already own Forever Skies you can use the bundle to get an additional 15% off from The Riftbreaker
The Quality-Of-Life patch - EA.1.4.2 ha arrived and includes QOL improvements, bug fixes and gives much-needed love to the forgotten tool of Forever Skies, The Flashlight!
New(ish) Item: The Flashlight
Finally, after 7 months in Early Access all players will know that they can use a Flashlight in game!
The blueprint for this tool can be acquired early on after visiting your first Radio Tower and collecting some Electrical Parts. This will prompt the blueprint to unlock, at which point the player can research it.
Players don’t need to worry about another item taking up valuable inventory space as The Flashlight gets its own dedicated slot, in the same way as your Oxygen Tank. It now runs on batteries and will need to be charged like most tools.
QOL Improvement: Airship Base Adjustments
If you’re replacing any normal wall module with a Door, then any attachments you had on the wall will simply drop into your inventory, unless you’re inventory is full. And with Patch 1.4.2, that just got easier too!
QOL Improvement: Inventory Management
Your inventory, storage boxes, and freezers have had a couple of new functions added to make moving items around easier than ever.
Store All - This will remove all items currently in your inventory and move them into the storage box/freezer that you’re interacting with.
Take All - This will move all items in that Storage Box or Freezer into your Inventory.
Sort - This one is self-explanatory, it will sort all of your items so slots are more organized and will group stacks of the same item together.
Store Similar - This function is useful when you have a Storage Box for a specific resource. It will remove the item or resource out of your inventory that matches the item or resource that’s already in the Storage Box, meaning you don’t have to comb through your inventory to find that stack of Machine Parts you want to store. It can be done at the click of a button once you interact with your Machine Parts Storage Box.
Boiled Lulling Grass Cricket’s icon changed to differentiate it more from the raw Cricket
Boiled Dust Lettuce’s icon changed to differentiate it more from the raw Lettuce
The Chromatic Aberration toggle option was added to the Settings
Thunderstorm volume slider added to the Audio Settings
Fixes:
Flying debris can’t damage an airship, while it’s docked at the Descent to the Underdust location
The player no longer dies after using the Medical Station while being infected with Hemorrhagic Fever
Storage Boxes cannot be placed on other Storage Boxes anymore
Insect Catcher no longer works when it’s in collision with parts of locations
Damaged Upgraded Turbines no longer reset their health state upon being picked up
To-Do list no longer marks already-seen tasks as new
Souvenir Mug’s icon now matches the in-game mesh
Thorn Bee Hives placement fixed - they shouldn’t spawn in strange places anymore
Music tracks should play and change while exploring various locations
A glass wall with door frame scanning description fixed
Breathnut descriptions now show how much oxygen it replenishes
Immunity is reset to the proper value after the player dies
Minor typos in text fixed
Known issues:
Shadows flicker badly while an airship is moving (the more noticeable the lower quality settings)
Some broken crates may appear as not damaged
Database - some icons are missing in the locations’ entries
That's all for now! Team Far From Home

How To Access the Test Branch
Open the Steam application on your PC and locate Forever Skies in your games library
Right click - PROPERTIES- BETAS
Put in the password: BlimpWorkshop
From the dropdown menu select the beta branch tilted: beta_flight
Press the blue “Opt into beta_flight…” button
In your Games Library click on Forever Skies [beta_flight]
Install the Test Branch
How To Create and Load Existing Saves into the Test Branch
Your existing saves for the main game are stored in a different folder compared to your saves on the test branch. If you want to continue and test the game using your existing progress, you’ll need to do the following:
Locate your save files on your PC. By default they should be stored in the following file path: C:\Users\\AppData\Local\ProjectZeppelin\Saved\SaveGames\
Select the save file that you want to test your progress on, right-click, copy.
Located your Test Branch save file folder. By default they should be stored in the following file path: C:\Users\\AppData\Local\ProjectZeppelin\Saved_BetaFlight\SaveGames\
Paste your copied save file into this location
As a precaution make a 2nd copy of your save file and paste it somewhere on your desktop or in a safe folder. This way you can ensure you have a clean, backup save just in case.
After you have done the above, you can start the Forever Skies Test Branch from Steam and your save will be present when you select “CONTINUE”
Existing Saves Won’t be Affected but use an Imported Save To Play the Test Branch
Your existing saves, progress, and any custom settings you’ve set in from the main game won’t be carried over to the Test Branch. Your pc will see this as if you are installing and playing the game for the first time ever. Likewise, by playing on the Test Branch, your main saves should not be affected at all.
This also means any progress on the test branch will not be carried over to the main game once the update is live. The test branch is designed to allow you to explore and test new features without impacting your current progress.
Players can opt to play the test branch starting a fresh save, however, if you want to test new content with your existing progress, airship, etc (and we suggest you do) you will need to make a copy of your main game save and import it into the test branch. Instructions on how to do it can be found below.
Where to Submit Bugs
All bugs or issues that you encounter while playing should be submitted via the FEEDBACK TOOL that you can find in-game when pausing the game. Subsequently, you can find the tool under this link too: https://www.farfromhomegames.com/en/playtests

Thank you! We've hit +3000 reviews + The Riftbreaker bundle
Greetings scientists!
This is a quick community appreciation post!
We recently crossed 3000 reviews here on Steam!
So from the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who has supported us and our game!
And an extra big sweaty hug and kiss to everyone who left us a review.
Grand Overlord Gabe of Steam doesn't have anything magic happen when you cross 3000 reviews, but to us, this is still a proud moment. It shows our game is hitting a chord with a lot of people and moments like this give us so much motivation to keep making it better and better alongside your feedback. So here's to all of you!
It also happens that today is the official start of our cooperation bundle with our friends at Exor Studios, the crew behind The Riftbreaker.
They're 40% off right now and if you already own Forever Skies you can use the bundle to get an additional 15% off from The Riftbreaker
We just sent out a smol, but important hotfix to EA.1.4.1. Here is what we addressed:
Fixed a game crash when leaving the lift in the Underdust location
Fixed the Small Town location spawning without loot and central beacon tower.
That is all for now. More updates coming soon!

48 hours left: Forever Skies is 20% off
Hi everyone.
First off, happy 2024! We've got some big plans for Forever Skies this year, many of which we have talked about in previous posts, and others that we will talk about a little later. So do keep your eyes peeled for more updates landing and please keep sending us your feedback!
And yes, as mentioned regularly, co-op is being worked on heavily and we will have a date for it when we feel it is ready. So please stop torturing our poor social media manager by asking repeatedly. Every night, he wakes in a pool of sweat, as his sole recurring dream now is him in an empty white room, surrounded by a hum of anonymous voices shouting, "When is co-op coming?!?" The deafening clamor envelops him like a foghorn tearing through the night and all he can do is meekly reply in vain with the words "Yes. We've talked about this before here, here, and here"
Anyway! Just a reminder to those following us here who still don't own the game.
Our 20% off sales ends in less than 28 hours
You can also get an extra 10% via our two bundles with our friends at Meet Your Maker and BOB: Chronicles.
If you already own Meet Your Maker or BOB: Chronicles, you can still use the bundle to get an extra 10% off.
The Forever Skies sale officailly ends on Januray 4th at 7pm CET / 1pm EST / 10am PST
