Announcing the Fortify Release Tournament! For charity!
Hi everyone!
Release is getting closer!
To celebrate the release and the awesomness of the multiplayer, I will host a tournament on April 10th at 5pm CET summer time. 2 days after release to allow some practice.
Here's the description found on the Challonge page
What is it?
This is a 1v1 tournament in Fortify to celebrate its release.
What can I win?
Winner gets 4 copies of Fortify to give to friends.
Runner up gets 2 copies, 3rd and 4th get one copy each.
It's not all about winning, for every (playing) participant, I will donate 2$ to UNHCR, the UN refugee section. Proof of this will be posted on the Steam community page.
What are the rules?
Games are played with the predefined "Standard" settings in the lobby unless both players agree otherwise.
Games are played 1 vs 1 best of 1. Semifinals are best of 3, final is best of 5.
Bracket system is double elimination , so even if you lose a game, there is still hope.
The topmost player in the bracket hosts game. The bottom player joins.
Name your lobby: "Round X Game X" Where game is the game number next to your match in the bracket.
After a match, at least the winner must report results by taking a screenshot (F12 default) of the score screen and upload it somewhere so I can see it. I will be in the Steam game group chat. But challonge has places to upload results to the match.
If any bug occur at any time before either castle reaches 0, restart the game. If there is a disconnect, the player that loses the connection will lose. If there is an error with this, please consult me in the game chat.
You will need to be able to do basic communication in English.
Keep good manners!
If your opponent harasses, insults or says derogatory things to you, screenshot the chat and send me proof and I will make a decision about disqualifying the offender.
I maintain the rights to edit and change these rules at any time.
How do I participate?

Status update and release information
What I've been working on
Most of the time since the game was greenlit has gone towards adding the multiplayer mode. That is now working amazingly well and I think you will enjoy it a lot. I actually consider it the main draw of the game at this point!
The special edition, released in 2013, only included a single mission that took about an hour to complete, and the game relied heavily on replaying on harder difficulties or with different tactics. That still exists and I hope players will try harder and harder difficulties. But I have now added a second mission as well, also about an hour long, in the snowy western region of Holgaria. :) Arcade mode has also been there since the special edition, and is relatively unchanged.
Besides the new content, the game has basically had 6 months of polishing. It feels a lot better, looks a lot better, sounds a lot better and is a lot more fun. This is not the place for details, just trust me, it's way better.
The multiplayer
To the fun part! Multiplayer is amazing! I have been bug testing and balancing with a friend and some nights we have played for 5-6 hours straight, trying different game settings and tactics.
How does it work?
You play 1 vs 1, each of you have your own castle and defenders, just like normal. But there is an extra tab in the UI that lets you spend gold to send enemies that attack your opponent. These are the normal enemies, you see in the campaign, like orcs, ogres, war eagles and so on. The interesting thing is that every 30 seconds or so, you gain a set amount of gold in the form of "income". This income is increased by sending enemies to attack your opponent. So there is a balance, do you send enemies to attack your opponent and gain more income, or do you spend your resources on a better defense so you don't lose to the opponents attacks.
This might sound familiar to some of you as this mode is inspired by some famous Warcraft 3 mods called "line tower defense".
What platforns?
I'm afraid it's only for PC right now. Since I had to write a dll in C++ to support the multiplayer component, I would need to convert that to a dylib to get it working on Mac. Linux would also be nice... If anyone has experience with these kinds of problems and want to help out, please let me know!
When is it coming out?
April 8th, 2016.
How much will it cost?
$4.99
Final words
I hope you are as excited as me!
