Steam's timing for this sale couldn't be better for Forward: Escape the Fold. Just over a month after launch, the platform decides to promote the rogue genres! I wouldn't have wanted to miss this sale for any reason.

Update 1.1.1 - New items, New Challenges & more
Update 1.1.0 was launched on Sunday but there were some bugs found by the Discord community very quickly. So I implemented a hot-fix soon after which is update 1.1.1 - decided to stall the announcement to make sure there weren't any new issues discovered.
Now though I'm confident it's time for you guys to try it out for yourselves :) There's a lot of new stuff to try and I hope you'll enjoy trying out the new objects and challenges especially!

Here are some of the major changes to the game:
- 14 NEW items that will definitely switch things up during your runs - 2 NEW challenges - The Darkness challenge will now begin with 2 Gorgon Eyes đ” - You can now leave corrupted chests for 5 HP (thought this would add some extra strategy!) - Non-stackable items will no longer appear if you already have one in your inventory (no more frustration!!) - Reworked items that trigger power (i.e rings) - Removed feedback button
As for balancing changes:
- Increased the overall difficulty (I follow internally win rates to figure out the right balance) - For Azerty, the Iron Block is now a stackable item - For Phade, the Return power now leaves a sword card instead of a road card - For Raven, the Armor power now costs 4 instead of 7 mana
In addition, I wanted to say I'm working on bigger patches for the next weeks/months with LOTS of new content, here are a few things I'm working on:
- Endless Mode - highly requested! Iâm working on finding the right balance for this mode and how to make it worthwhile - Draft Mode - where you would build an inventory at the beginning of the run and face the Fold with it. This might be a separate mode or a new character - More achievements - why not right? - A new level type where you can pick a new power - and obviously, NEW characters!

Hello everyone, one weeks has now gone by since the launch and it's crazy for me to see the overwhelming amount of feedback and reviews the game has received! There's so many things I want to tweak to make the game even better and rest assured, I'm working on it!
In the meantime, I've decided to create a Discord with the help of my friend to have somewhere I can chat with all of you and share my thoughts. More importantly, this will be somewhere you guys can share your scores, crazy builds and more.
I'm open to feedback as this is my first endeavour into creating a Discord server and so it's quite rudimentary at the moment.
I'm really excited to get to see more Forward content there and to see who's the best at the game!
I'm preparing an update right now that should be releasing soon, I'll be sharing what's new on Discord first before anywhere else. I'll also be using the server to share some design thoughts and get insights on what you guys want to see in the game.

Features:
You can now use Space to trigger the power and skip story (if keyboard controls are enabled).
Enemies can no longer appear on the last two rows before the boss.
The visualization of the selected power is more explicit.
Balancing:
[Anubis] Rework Transmutation power.
[Azerty] Iron block new gives 7 armor durability instead of 10.
[Phade] Starts with 14 HP instead of 15 and 2 armor.
[???] Tornado power makes more different cards appear.
Bug fix:
âIncrease in Powerâ now doubles values correctly.
âReturnâ power with âpower ringâ could sometimes leave the path empty.
The statuses are triggered correctly in the tuto and the âmini-levelsâ.
Correction of (too many) spelling mistakes.
First Update - Fixing some player issues and some more balancing!
First update since the release of the game. It adds few features and mostly fixes bugs and character balancing. I'll be making more of theses updates to keep the game balanced and will be adding more content soon!

Phade:
+3 HP
Absorption now costs 5 instead of 6 and absorbs 3 health points instead of 2.
Anubis:

Starts with an additional item: Vitality Dagger
Azerty
Starts with 24 armor instead of 20.
Iron block item now gives 10 armor instead of 6.
Beat the iron power now changes 4 random cards instead of 2.
Repair power become Heart of steel with a totally different effect.
Bug fix It was sometimes impossible to start a level (bug with the amber item and the immunity status). Correction of (too many) spelling mistakes.
I have more exciting content on the way! All this feedback has been so motivating for me and I can't see myself stopping updating the game anytime soon :)

Forward: Escape the Fold is now available!
Hello everyone, itâs launch day!
Forward: Escape the Fold has just released and I (Christophe, the dev!) wanted to sum up whatâs happened to the game to this day and where it is heading over the next months. First, the game today is a full release and has already tons of modes, characters to plays and items to collect but will be receiving regular updates to spice it up for players who enjoy the game.
For those of you who are new to Forward: Escape the Fold, itâs a card-based dungeon crawler roguelite that lets the player face a series of increasingly challenging dungeons where they will need to make hard decisions at every turn. They will need to collect objects scattered in the dungeons to power up and create fun synergies. The rest you can discover by playing the game ;)
The game concept was originally conceived during the 2019 7DRL Game Jam where my game ranked 6th overall! Seeing that players were really enjoying that small game I decided to take the mechanics and make a full-fledged game. And thatâs how Forward: Escape the Fold came around!
I am really excited to see how players react to the game this week and take into account their feedback for future updates. I already have some things planned for the upcoming months including:
- New Characters (I already have some ideas) - New Items (more synergies to come!) - Continued balancing (depending on how players react) - Integrating Steam functionalities

Forward: Escape the Fold playthrough - Steam Next Fest 2022
Welcome crawlers to this play-through of my upcoming card-based roguelike! Youâll get to see what the Fold is all about and how to master it in order to escape it.
By participating in the Steamâs NextFest I am hoping to see what people think of the game and how I can improve it before launch on March 29th. The game concept was originally conceived for the 7DRL Game Jam (a roguelike jam) and was really successful on Itch so I decided to go on and develop it into its own full game.

5 Days left on Kickstarter -already 419% funded!
Welcome everyone!
7 days into the campaign (and 5 days left!) and I am thrilled to see that the project has been backed by over 100 people. All these lucky backers will be accessing the Play Test very soon and will be giving me essential feedback before general release.
3 mysterious backers chose "the Ultimate Behemoth" backer tier (666$!) and will be able to write both a story for the game and design a unique object.
The announcement on Twitter was very well received and many of my "idols" were supportive of the project.
My friend Leandre who has worked on the Forward OST decided to create a new batch of music and SFX for the game seeing the support received by the project.
This wave of support has comforted me in bringing in new elements to the game that I though about. The latest build integrates new monsters (10!) and hundreds of new mini-stories to add depth to the lore!

Forward: Escape the Fold is NOW ON KICKSTARTER
Hello everyone,
Today is a huge day for Forward: Escape the Fold! The game is launching a campaign on Kickstarter today to raise awareness around the game and most importantly build a pool of players to participate in the final round of playtesting!
Itâs the first time I build a Kickstarter campaign so everything is quite new to me. Iâve set a low monetary target because the game is not far from being ready. But every dollar I receive from Kickstarter will really help me in the future to start new projects and promote this game.
Every person who supports the campaign will be invited to join the playtests taking place after the end of the campaign. I'm really excited to show off some new features I've added into the game!
If you too are excited about the game and wish to support my work, I really encourage you to support his campaign as itâs an opportunity to pre-order the game before its official release and get your hands on some game before everyone else.
