Fray Fight

Boss items, Cooldown Reduction Evolution, Balance changes, and More!

This update introduces Boss items to the game which are upgrades to existing items, but for stats you cant normally improve through the shop. They're still good, but not quite as good as an evolution.

Boss items

  • +50% Ballista Firing speed
  • +50% Magic Missile Speed
  • +15% Shuriken Range
  • +10 Volley Damage
  • +10% Explosion Chance
  • +2 Brimstone Walker Damage
  • +25% Max HP
  • Full Heal (only shows up if you're below 20% HP)


Cooldown Reduction Evolution
- After 5 stacks of cooldown reduction, your items have a chance to cast twice 10% of the time.

Balance Changes
- Explosion is now only a 30% chance (but you can gain +10% per boss item, up to 60% currently)
- Magic Missile evolution no longer gives +50% speed. Only Fragmentation and Range. (You can get the speed back with the boss items)

Other changes
- New stats tab in the escape menu which shows some very basic stats (we'll continue to improve this as time goes on)
- New item list in the title screen which shows all items and their evolutions. (still need to add the boss items)

Patch notes

* Spiders no longer try to avoid objects that have no velocity.
* Added lava theme and monsters.
* Added an evolved form of Soul Catcher.
* Increased the Ballista spawn rate.
* Barter now gives a 10% discount.
* Added knockback to the Ballista bolts.
* Ballista Bolts now despawn.
* Fixed an issue with Ballista, Odin's Orb, Heimdall's Halitosis, and Spikey ball not tracking damage for the end screen.
* Fixed an issue where Odin's Orb, Heimdall's Halitosis, and Spikey ball were not being affected by cooldown reduction.
* Reduced the base cooldown rate on Heimdall's Halitosis by 25%.

Wizard portal knockback and Character stats

Hey everyone!

Hope you're all enjoying Fray Fight! We're continuing to work hard on the game and today we've got another update for you!

This update includes:

* Character stats in the character select menu
* Ambient world animations
* Wizard Portals now knock back enemies when you go through them.
* More performance improvements
* Explosion now has a maximum size (no more fullscreen explosion on bosses)
* Fixed most of the broken achievements (20 monsters with a single projectile is still broken)

Magic Missile Evolution and Performance improvements

Hey everyone!

Today we're launching another update with some performance improvements and a new upgraded version for Magic Missile!

Here's a full list of the changes

* New Magic Missile upgrade at 5 stacks that makes it go further, faster, and fragment on impact.
* Made significant performance improvements. Lightning/Thor's hammer builds should be able to perform much better
* Added an FPS slider to the settings.
* Added a soul fairy that spawns occasionally.
* Added Turkish and Traditional Chinese translations

4 Days Later

Hey everyone!

We've got another small patch for you! This is mostly an extension of yesterdays changes.

* Fixed a bug where crit numbers were not showing for lightning
* Fixed a few bugs with Toad. (We still have more plans for Toad)
* Fixed an issue where Lightning/Thor's hammer was double dipping on Berseker/Soul Catcher.
* Soul Catcher now caps at 50% per stack, still reaching 250% at 5 stacks.
* Some further performance improvements (still more to do)
* Adjusted difficulty a little bit to reflect the changes to lightning/Thor's hammer.

3 Days Later

Hey everyone!

Another day another patch!

Today's patch includes the following changes


  • Added a neat chart in the end screen with a few stats. We plan on adding to this more over the next few updates!
  • Added a setting for disabling damage numbers.
  • Fixed a few of the broken achievements.
  • Buffed the Toad.
  • Prevent Thor's Hammer and Lightning from infinitely double dipping on crit chance.
  • Reduced the difficulty further in the game to adjust for the Thor fixes.
  • Reduced the load time for loading into the boss levels.
  • Condensed the coins some more in certain situations.

48 Hours Later

Hey everyone!

Man it has been a wild past 2 days!

Today we've made some pretty big changes to the game and we hope you all will enjoy them!

Mobs now drop gold much more frequently and as you get further each wave will drop more and more gold. Items are no longer consistent cost throughout the whole game. After each wave, items get more expensive. However, the amount of items you should get in a run should be equivalent to what it was in previous patches. We believe these gold and item changes will feel much more satisfying as opposed to monsters slowly dropping less and less gold like it was before.

Compound interest is no longer capped at 10 gold a wave, but is instead capped based on the costs of items. To reach this cap should basically be impossible, but it is there just in case.

Reroll cost reduction meta upgrade is now a percentage instead of a flat value.


Other changes

  • The cooldown for Fray's Javelin is has been reduced by 10%. Is now faster, knocks back more, and goes further
  • Thor's hammer damage has been reduced a little bit and cooldown has been increased 50%, but now scales with cooldown reduction.
  • Fixed the bug with Thor's hammer and lightning that would cause the game to lag and insta kill the wave 30 boss.

Hey everyone!

Thank you all for trying out Fray Fight, we hope you’re enjoying! It’s been a little bumpy to start, but we’ve been reading your feedback and we've been trying to make improvements quickly! Here’s a list of changes we’ve made over the 24 hours.

Gameplay



* Reduced the player and mob Hitboxes
* Made it so bosses always drop souls
* Made it so monsters do not teleport on top of you when the boss waves start
* Fixed crit chance not working with Berserker and Soul Catcher
* Added functionality to make space bar work as select
* Fixed several achievements that were either not unlocking or unlocking at the wrong time
* Tornadoes now actually pull mobs
* Buffed the Wizard
* Made the wave difficulty scaling a little faster past wave 20
* Fixed an issue where Toad would lose their primary attack
* Improved coin hitboxes and improved magnet
* Updated translations for several languages


Performance



* Added a setting to lock the frame rate, this should greatly improve performance on lower end devices and should reduce the number of resources the game uses on higher end devices.
* Improved our sound effects manager to prevent many effects from playing simultaneously. This should greatly improve performance further in the game. (IM LOOKING AT YOU LIGHTNING BUILDS)
* Reduced the size of some assets that were only being rendered at 40% of their size.
* Removed lingering entities
