Here are too many changes to address individually, but a couple of topics are worth mentioning in particular.
Brand-new user interface
We've completely re-worked the UI. Where previously the UI was very much a prototype, this iteration is much more in-line with what we envision for the final game. We're really proud of how smooth it is, and how well it works for both KBM and Controllers. I can't get enough of the slick, frosted, semi-transparent look <3
There will still be further changes, as we debate how we think players should equip and switch weapons, but in terms of the visuals we're really happy with this version. Oh you can spot some new weapons in this screenshot as well. The grenade launcher is my personal favorite ːalienmouthː
Massive performance improvements
In addition to the vastly improved flashlights, we've now also re-worked our decal system, allowing for goo / blood spatters that are way more in tune with what we envisioned in the first place. Oh and it performs a heck of a lot better as well. You should definitely notice this on lower-specced systems.
Clean up on aisle 4, please!
Gameplay balances
At first, we figured that most people would try the demo in multiplayer. But (as we should have expected) plenty of people tried it by themselves and found that it was too difficult to complete (especially since aliens could very quickly drain the energy from the prototype weapon, effectively resetting your progress). We've made a lot of changes to give solo players a better experience, while maintaining a challenge if you play with friends.
From now on, the team is focused on implementing all of the game's core mechanics. Things will evolve quite a bit compared to the demo (it was always our intention to test the waters and implement our learnings) so expect a lot of changes as we work towards our Alpha milestone at the end of October. As we progress, we will continue to post updates, and of course if you want to have a chat or give feedback, you can do so through one of the channels below!

Next Fest Feedback
Oh boy, there were *so* many demos during Next Fest. Despite this fact, we're still happy that several thousands of you have played (and hopefully enjoyed) our demo. We're happy to have you on-board for the ride.
Let's cut to the chase. There's a few important things we've learned just from your feedback;
Difficulty was too high, especially when playing solo.
UX needs improvement, as some players didn't understand how to open their inventory.
Aliens attacking the prototype weapon is experienced as too much of a punishment.
Mission objectives weren't perfectly clear to some players.
Fortunately, the team has made a lot of progress! We've decided to update the demo (soon). You can expect the following changes to be present;
Balance - Reduced the amount of energy required to charge the weapon to 100%
Balance - Reduced the maximum amount of energy a player can carry
Balance - Tweaked amount of enemies in drop-pod and infestation scenarios
Balance - Reduced the amount of energy the prototype weapon loses with each attack
Balance - Increased the amount of health and shields when players are revived
Feature - Aliens will now get alerted when you fire near them
Feature - Aliens will now attack multiple players more equally
Feature - Aliens will find a new target when a player is incapacitated
Feature - Aliens are now able to guard an area (triggering a wave when attacked)
Feature - Aliens are now knocked back by nearby explosions
Feature - Added fading effect when entering or exiting buildings
Feature - Added loot boxes to encourage exploration
Improvement - Dropped virtual cursor for controller navigation
Improvement - New flashlight to improve CPU and GPU load
Improvement - Alien CPU performance has improved
Improvement - Several particle effects have been updated
Improvement - Aliens will no longer attack & move at the same time
There are a few items (features) that are still t.b.d. so the final list might have a few additional items.

Every time a dev releases a game or an update, an incredible amount of work goes into testing, checking and making sure everything is as it is supposed to be. Doing this only a few months into the production of FROM SPACE was an incredible effort, and because of this I want to thank and congratulate the entire team for reaching this milestone. We're thrilled to be able to present the FROM SPACE Multiplayer Demo!
In addition to releasing the demo, the store also had a major overhaul, adding new videos, screenshots and a bunch of key art to spruce things up. Looks much better now, doesn't it? Anyway, let's get to why you're here:
Story time!
A swarm of meteors has for millennia been chased through the galaxy by alien creatures, who have grown addicted to the consumption of energy dense crystals growing on every rock of the swarm. The consumption of energy from the crystals once gave the aliens wisdom and strength but have now corrupted and mutated the species and turned them into zombie-like creatures who will destroy anything in their path to obtain even a grain of the crystals.
The meteors are hurtling through space, and Earth is the next planet in its path. It’s destiny and that of all living things is seemingly decided. The swarm starts to rain down on planet Earth and as humans start to discover the nature of the crystals, the aliens appear, dropping to earth from pods that separate from an enormous mother ship. Their primary sites are areas where meteors have impacted, making them the epicenter of enormous hives crawling with all kinds of aliens where crystals are turned to pink goop and transported back to the mothership.
Upon landing, the aliens immediately see the humans as competitors for their precious resource, turning every human on the planet into a target to the invaders.
Our heroes are a bunch of ex-military misfits, who learn that the army is no longer able to defend the city they live in. Unwilling to leave the city to its fate, they take up arms to rescue civilians and fight back the alien invaders. Their heroic actions are soon recognized by the people of the city, and as the word spreads, the military catches wind and tries whatever it can to help the heroes achieve their goal by dropping in prototype weaponry that is to be charged with energy from the crystals.
What do I do in the demo?
The squad is being flown in by chopper into an alien infested area. However, during the approach the helicopter is taken down, separating the squad and the weapon. Your objectives are;
Retrieve the prototype weapon.
Charge it with energy from the crystals.
Bring the weapon to its destination and set it off.
Good luck soldier! Remember, the demo is best enjoyed when playing with friends. You can invite them at any time when playing, and they will appear in the starting area. Remember, this game is still in development. You might encounter bugs or crashes. Reporting these helps us make the game better.
