Update 1.1 Now Available: Armored Zombies, Coop (+1.11 patch)

Update 1.1 for Frontline Zed is now available:

New Features:
  • 2-Player Coop - play through the original campaign with a friend. Play together on a local PC, or via Steam Remote Play. At least one player must use a controller. NPC survivors have been removed from this mode to increase the challenge, and make room for the second human player. Each player can choose a unique crosshair color and design.

    Coop Mode required a lot of technical overhauls, and there are still a few tweaks and improvements we wish to make to it - if you have any feedback on Coop mode, please check this thread in our Steam forum,

  • Armored Zombies - as you progress through the game, you'll be faced with tough, armored opponents - aim for the unprotected head area to deal more damage! Shots to the torso will still deal some damage, albeit a reduced amount.



  • New Achievement - Kill 10 Armored Zombies


Balance Changes:
  • Tweaked the zombie spawn rates on all levels for a more challenging experience
  • Increased the number of zombies that spawn when there are very few on the field
  • Zombies now spawn in more distinct 'waves'
  • Slightly increased Survivor weapon damage and fire rate
  • L96 Sniper Rifle now penetrates 2 zombies, up from 1
  • AKM damage slightly reduced
  • Heavy Revolver rate of fire slightly increased


Improvements:
  • Slight performance improvement when a lot of zombie ragdolls are onscreen
  • Zombie ragdolls 90% less likely to glitch out


A Note on Update 1.2:

We've decided to move the Chainsaw and Explodable Barrels features to Update 1.2 - to allow more time to polish and enhance them. We expect Update 1.2 to be released at approximately the 20th of December.

Update 1.1 included a lot of major, behind the scenes updates to the game, to support the features coming in Update 1.2 and Update 1.3. As a result, there may be some bugs - we're standing by to issue a patch 1.11 in the next few days.

If you do experience any bugs, please let us know on Discord or the Steam Discussion Forum.

Please restart your Steam client to receive the update.


Patch 1.11
  • Fixed Zombie ragdoll limit setting in Options menu. By default, zombie ragdolls will be limited to 30 instances.
  • Further reduced number of runner zombies that spawn in when the barricade is at very low health
  • Fixed new achievement not showing in Steam

Thanks for supporting Frontline Zed during launch week! In this announcement, we're unveiling the Roadmap, as well as detailing the 1.03 patch coming tomorrow.

Roadmap Details:


Frontline Zed has been available for one week, and in that time we've accumulated a lot of very helpful feedback. Thanks! This Roadmap has been designed to satisfy the most requested features, whilst also being technically achievable enough that we can deliver updates as a steady pace.

We're going to be working hard to deliver one of these major updates per month, starting in November for Update 1.1. However, we will be carrying out extensive testing, including beta tests, and will hold back and refine an update if it is not ready.

Now, onto Patch 1.03, coming tomorrow:

Patch 1.03 Changelog:


FEATURES
  • Can now move character with arrow keys, and switch weapon with spacebar
  • Added Windowed Fullscreen mode to Options
  • Added 1280x720 (16:9) resolution to Options


TWEAKS
  • Slowed down camera pans when navigating to and within the Weapon section
  • Improved the animation and design of text on the outro movie, and reduced its length
  • Spawned bullets further inside the barrel, so that shooting zombies in close range is more reliable
  • Made the English weapon names easier to read when using the Chinese language option
  • Removed the blue lines of the diary to better fit Chinese characters when using the Chinese language option


BALANCE
  • Tweaked the minimum and maximum time between shots for survivors.
  • Reduced the number of runner zombies that spawn, when your barricade is at 10 or less health (including if destroyed)
  • Made it easier to find new survivors when your current number of survivors is low (eg. after your barricade has been destroyed, but you survived)


BUGFIXES
  • Save and Exit now clears previously looted buildings
  • Made non-English text display more reliable and consistently across the game



Media Keys

Due to an error, keys sent via Keymailer have been deactivated. Please check this thread if you were impacted, to get a replacement.

Patch 1.02 Now Live + Patch 1.021 Languages Hotfix

Edit: Patch 1.021 is now live, with the following additional changes:


  • Fixed Languages reverting to English when the main campaign is finished, or when the player exits back to the Menu
  • Fixed being unable to change out of Portuguese language to another language
  • Tweaked and improved the design of the Outro movie particularly in non-English languages (still some more to do here - we will redesign that entire section)
  • Balanced the late-game AKM


Patch 1.02 is now live on Steam - please restart your Steam client to receive the update immediately.

Patch 1.02 Changelog:


Features:
  • Can choose Crosshairs and customise colour (in Options menu)
  • Survivors have slightly more powerful weapons now
  • Hard difficulty added to Options (game still defaults to Medium difficulty) - zombie health increased by 20%
  • Reduced game download size by 700MB





Balance:
  • Buff to UMP damage
  • Warehouse level made easier
  • M16 now has a gap between bursts


Bugfixes:
  • Fixed quality level showing as Low when it was in fact higher
  • Fixed movement keys changing weapon for AZERTY/French keyboard users
  • Flawless Victory achievement fixed
  • Q and E keys no longer change weapons (this was conflicting with certain keyboard setups)
  • Spacebar button changes weapon (in addition to mouse wheel, '1' and '2' keys)
  • Can now start a new game immediately after finishing the campaign

Patch 1.02 Plans, Patch 1.01 notes + Thank you for a successful launch day!

Thanks to everyone for supporting us during launch day! We've had some great feedback, and a lot of very happy responses, but also identified areas that we need to patch and improve.

Our first patch for the game went live last night:

Patch 1.01

  • BUGFIX: The Looting Maps now show all buildings in the correct language
  • BUGFIX: The final Outro video now has working fonts and statistics (and looks much less ugly, sorry about the bugged old version!)
  • BALANCE: The first three levels (Forest, Farm, Junkyard) are slightly easier, to help players ease into the game


And we're working now on Patch 1.02, hopefully coming today:

  • FEATURE: Change crosshair color and design in Options menu
  • BUGFIX: Changed 'change weapons' keys from Q+E, to Spacebar (and retained 1+2 keys, and mouse wheel) to fix problems AZERTY keyboard players had with movement changing weapons
  • BALANCE: Added 'hard' difficulty mode, with zombies with 20% stronger health. We're still tweaking this difficulty level, so we welcome your feedback.
  • BALANCE: Survivors in later areas use more powerful weapons


We're working hard all week and weekend to respond to your feedback, and will be preparing more patches to fix important issues.

Media Keys now Fully Available, Thursday October 3rd Release LOCKED IN

Hi Frontline Zed fans,

Media Keys are now fully available, and the October 3rd 2019 release date has been locked in!

Media keys have been sent out to all accredited users on Keymailer, additional media outlets, Steam curators, and content creators. (A final round will be sent out to content creators with large channels on launch day)

To simplify pre-release support, this media version does not include non-English languages. The full version releasing on Thursday will include French, German, Portuguese, Polish, Russian, and Simplified Chinese. If you want to play using those languages, please just wait for the full release (you will see 'version 1.00' at the bottom of the main menu).

To assist reviewers, the game features a cheat code - press F1 once to immediately kill all enemies and finish the level. This code will be removed shortly after launch.

The game will be available to purchase via Steam on October 3rd, at approximately 10AM EST / 5PM GMT. Version 1.00 (and the extra languages) will go live at the same time, and your save game files will still be compatible.

The regular price will be $11.99/€11.99/£9.29, with a 10% discount for launch week ($10.79/€10.79/£8.36)

Frontline Zed features 2-hours of intense gameplay, with an additional 1+ hours of extra FREE content planned for the coming months.
