Feedback was received to develop the creative fun factor in the activities on Function. Based on this, work is being put into a new section called Party Games which will be made up of fun mini-games with leaderboards. Check out the first installment Use Your Noggin', more to come! Leveling up is now live!
Leveling up is now live! Players can now see their level progress for each category in their homebase, choose an activity and workout to increase their level. More activities will be added over time, as well as leaderboards for each so players can see how their level compares to the world. Thank you to everyone for supporting Function!
New Function Homebase is Live!
The new Function homebase is now live! Players will find an improved layout allowing selection of activities based on their interest areas. The team is still working on implementing statistics and leaderboards, so those are marked under construction inside of the game for now. This new setup will allow an easy way to add new content in the future to cover a range of needs from activities for strengthening to lowering back pain. Thank you to the community for the continued support!
Teleport bugs fixed
Saturday update: Fixed some teleporting bugs that caused players to not be able to teleport in certain areas in the arena, hopefully that should be fixed now. Next up: Making some needed edits to the Steam store and trailer. Have a great weekend everyone!
Workouts now enabled!
Friday update: All workout levels are updated and available today! Trial timed workouts ranging from Power to Endurance to the massive Titan workout. Post your time or your arena highscore for the leaderboard. Thanks to everyone for your support, you make Function possible. Next steps: Fixing some teleporting mechanic bugs. Future: More activity stations and getting stats and Steam leaderboards integrated. Happy Friday!
Thursday update: New reaction punching setup
Thursday update: Working on getting the timed workout levels back up and working. Reaction punching activity station is updated with new spawning locations of the targets so that things aren't so far away and aren't so low, check it out! Thanks to everyone via the various mediums for their feedback so far. Check out the in-game leaderboard, a couple new names on it! Next steps: Keep working on the timed workout levels. Future plans: Tons of more activity stations and auto-updating stats and leaderboards!
Fitness workout level now available!
Wednesday update: The "Fitness" workout level is updated with the latest interaction mechanics. Check it out in the main play area and let us know if you see any bugs, thanks!
Interaction system update
The updated interaction system is complete and ready for testing! Thanks to everyone for their patience as we worked on the compatibility problems. Function should now work for all VR headsets connecting to SteamVR and all interaction mechanics should work, including teleportation. The update comes with a couple additional features we received feedback on, including snap-turning and articulating hands instead of static controllers models for hands. In addition, teleporting is simpler to do (thanks martyrob for the feedback) via using the directional controls, no more pushing buttons. Timed workouts are turned off right now, but will be turned back on as we update each individual level. Please try it out and let us know if something doesn't work so we can continue improving!
Updating the interaction system
Finished work on the home base arena for the new interaction system. Next step is to convert the game intro scene over and then the game should be ready for updating to Steam for testing. I'll send updates as we progress, thanks!
Starting scene re-design
Today the game's starting scene was redesigned for improved usage. Modeled after what other top VR titles do, it has a simple billboard layout with important information for the player to look at and then they can select to start the game. Thanks to everyone for the continued feedback!
