As some of you may know, I want to involve the community to have a say in which direction Gaia should be taking while in development and Early Access. The way this will work is by implementing different packages in Gaia. The basic idea is to work on a package, finish it and move on to the next. This way, the game can grow according to what the community wants the most while also maintaining a playable version at all times.
The first package will be ready for release with the Early Access version so I'm making this little poll for you guys to vote on what this first package should be! You can vote by posting a comment on this announcement or on the forums, but not on both places please.
Below is a short list of all the packages that I'd personally want to one day see in Gaia.
Currently proposed packages:
° Endgame options
— Build a spaceship to escape
— Find the time device that allows the player to go back in time (think Prince of Persia) and keep playing in sandbox mode.
° Disasters
— Natural disasters. These would consist of thunderstorms, tornadoes, eclipses and more. They would impact gameplay.
° Vehicles
— Initial vehicles would include a small submarine (if the marine package was implemented) and a mech to help you get around faster, carry more stuff and provide more protection.
° Follower
— These little robots would help with your survival by providing more inventory space, an additional gun or just make your life more enjoyable.
° Journal System
— Semi random text generation to build up a story. Amanda will be writing in her journal everyday. She’ll describe the events that happened to her or around her.
° Biomes
— Different biomes such as winter and desert.
° Modding
— Being able to mod simple things at first, such as stats, textures and UI.
° Marine life
— Fishes, corals and other underwater gameplay.
° Character creation
— Be able to make your own character. Amanda would still be the default option.
I don't want to make this post too long, so if you want to see an in depth description of each one of these packages, head over to the forums by following the link below:
Some people who got a key a few weeks ago have decided to record some of the testing they did. Sabouts is a great youtuber who’s made a first look video of Gaia just yesterday. You can watch his video here if you’d like to get a feel of how the game currently plays.

If you want to see more, you can also watch Garies’ videos on his channel here

Garies has been quite a big help in testing out Gaia. He found dozens of bugs so far. You can watch the progress Gaia has made since the first day of the closed testing period on his channel. He talks a lot about the bugs he found and how they were getting fixed from patch to patch, so if you’d like to get an idea of how development of a game looks like behind the scenes, take a look at his channel!
Closed Pre Alpha Testing now open
ALL KEYS HAVE BEEN HANDED OUT. Thank you so much for the support everyone. I'll keep posting updates on Steam and on the Gaia website.
Hello everyone,
Gaia is now looking for testers for the pre alpha version of the game. This is not supposed to be a large scale, public test like an Early Alpha. In fact, there are only 10 available keys with another few being used by people who got involved really early in the development of the game. If you want to be become a tester, please visit https://officialgaiagame.com/forums/topic/are-you-a-tester-or-want-to-be-one/ and read the first post.
We're looking for dedicated people who will provide feedback on a regular basis. All testing keys will be revoked at the end of the testing period, but based on your level of contribution, you may receive the game for free once it's out in Early Alpha.
If you have any suggestions or ideas, please don't hesitate to post your thoughts on the forums or in the community tab on Steam! We want the community to have a big say in the direction this game is taking.
