Balancing and Revamps



Enemies



  • Mimics no longer steal 5 GC per attack.
  • Drakobolds no longer steal 5 GC per attack.
  • Pumpkin Lord Eskyuven now has 100 AP instead of 50.
  • Pumpkin Lord Eskyuven now has 2 DEF instead of 1.
  • Pumpkin Lord Eskyuven now receives 2 stacks of each buff instead of 1 upon triggering Latent Rage.
  • Added more orbs that Orbot Galter can potentially generate.
  • Tricksters now have 25 HP instead of 20.
  • Banshee now has 25 ATK instead of 20.

Orbs



  • Some Capturable Orbs now have different chances of being added instead of every single one of them having equal odds.
  • Fallen Trickster Hat now costs 2 Mana instead of 4. Also gives 2 ATK.
  • Desperate Bargain now has the “Overpowered” tag.
  • Artifact Portmanteau now has the “Overpowered” and “Strict” tags.


Artifacts



  • Mana Shard now gives 1 extra Mana on combat start in addition to giving 1 extra mana every turn.

QOL

  • Save and Load: Autosaves are now stored inside each individual save file, and are not separate saves. (Thanks Jaqueta)
  • Inn Orb Shop: Orb Tooltips now appear by default instead of you having to hover on it.
  • Reward Board (Levels): Orb Tooltips now appear instead of descriptions. (Won’t show Summons though)
  • You can now see your active skills beneath your character’s HP.
  • You can now check what you can capture from a specific character by right-clicking it. (But only if you have the Capturedex upgrade)
  • The Camera will now widen the Field of View when playing at low Aspect Ratios, such as 16/10 and 3/2.
  • Skills are now visible during Combat on the Left Side of the HUD.
  • This can be toggled off under Settings > Interface.

  • Potentially fixed a softlock where Confirm/Skip button sometimes wouldn’t work on Orb Chest. (Thanks Arkuktor)
  • Fixed issue where orb draws and additions to hand would become inconsistent when the player succeeded a Fear check upon using an Attack Orb. (Thanks WhiteFalcon.)
  • Fixed issue where Attack Orbs wouldn’t go to the Burnt Pile after succeeding a Fear check.
  • Fixed issue where Levels and Expedition UI frequently overlapped other Inn UI elements. (Thanks Arkuktor)

Functionality



  • Fixed issue where Mana Crystal could make other Upgrade Crystal effects not execute. (Damage Crystals, Cloning Crystals, etc.)
  • Fixed issue where Upgrade Crystals would sometimes not work if you had two or more distinct Crystals on the same orb.
  • Potentially fixed issue where burning door would damage you even if you had the “Aggressive” trait.
  • Fixed inconsistent Trick or Treat activations and action changes for Eskyuven. (e.g: when receiving Burning damage, he would perform ToT twice)
  • Pouch Pocket now properly draws +1 orb on your first turn.
  • Fixed issue where Snatcher Shop would snatch things that you didn’t really have.
  • Fixed issue where hovering your mouse on highlighted links on the Spoils menu didn’t work well for Orb Tooltips.
  • Fixed out of bounds exception that could happen when burning Bombkins.

  • Fixed a bug where the Chest Unboxing Animation would appear incorrectly when using lower Interface Scale values.

Performance



  • Improved the Performance of the Pouch Rendering, the resolution of the “Pouch Camera Render” (Used to render the 3D orbs inside the UI) now scales based on which resolution the game is running.
  • Same performance improvements were made to Artifact Rendering, in both the HUD, and Artifact Pouch.
  • These improvements will have a large impact on Systems with Integrated Graphics and Lower-end GPUs.
  • Same Improvements were added to Character Selection screens (Buy/Borrow/Select)
  • Additionally, the game will limit how many characters are rendered in Real-time in the UI up to 2. Rest will be frozen.
  • Further optimizations were made as well, all of these improvements should give a huge performance boost when selecting characters, especially for a large collection of characters. (Thanks for reporting the performance issues Wolfgang)

Known Issues


We’ll be looking into fixing these for the next patches.

  • There may still be a Pumpkin Lord softlock that may happen under specific conditions, we are still investigating, if you experienced it please let us know! (Thanks WhiteFalcon!)
  • Stacked artifacts are getting out of frame.
  • Gacha Addict progress doesn’t properly save, so if you spent 25 GC, saved and loaded, you’ll need to spend again.
  • Red Tricksters sometimes don’t attack, we are still investigating that.

Hotfix 1.0.7a

This one fixes plenty of annoying issues.
Now we'll start working on weekly hotfixes and some more QOL, here are the notes:

Most Important Fixes



  • Fixed softlock that would happen if “Pumpkin Pile” or “Pumpkin Pile of Two” died before being able to act and was the last character to act. (This would block you from pressing End Turn.) (Thanks Wolf)
  • Fixed softlock that would happen when a Pumpkin enemy that transformed from Pumpkin Pile or Pile of Two while trying to attack, tried to attack. (Thanks Wolf)
  • Fixed an issue where using Tokens would be blocked if you had less Clan Tokens than the total invested previously (Thanks Hornchen)
  • Fixed an issue where autosaves would eventually start concatenating into “SaveAuto0Auto0”, “SaveAuto0Auto1Auto0”, and similar. (Previous saves named like this will still remain though, new ones will correct themselves.)

Functionality



  • “Bomb” can no longer attack if forced to by using orbs. (Thanks Wolf)
  • Made so that the orb draw calculation ignores orbs that you just used (specially useful for orbs that add other orbs into your hand).
  • ^ This should fix an issue where the game tells your hand is full even if it only has 9 orbs.
  • Fixed an issue where Toll Crystal would execute twice, costing 20 GC or Life per 1 Mana instead of 10. (Thanks Jonesboy33)
  • Fixed issue where Crystal Upgrade rewards would sometimes mimic the Crystal Upgrade Shop.

Stability



  • Fixed some stability issues related to Hideable UIs

Audiovisual



  • Fixed issue where Status Effect Particles sometimes appeared below character parts, clothes or equipment. (specially on Player characters)
  • Inn Master should no longer say another dialogue when you enter the “Inn and Tower Developments” menu.

UX and UI



  • Fixed issue where Upgrade Crystals would show the incorrect targets on the Spoils Menu if there were 2 crystals. (a Crystal that could be applied to any orb would sometimes show “Summon Only”, or “Special Only”, etc.)

    - Artifact Effect is “On your turn end: Draw one random orb from your Burnt Pile.”

Could not replicate


Those issues were reported, but we couldn’t replicate them, please let us know if you still encounter them.


  • Heart of the Forest Orb giving 5 mana instead of 1. (Thanks Jonesboy33)
  • Rank 2 regenerative (Elf level 1) only gives 1 regeneration instead of 2 as it says. (Thanks Kamai)
  • I found an issue with infinite Automated on an old save that I had, please let me know if it happens with you. I only managed to perform that once, still investigating.

Our Update Schedule

Hey everyone! Thank you so much for the amazing support!
This is a follow up from the previous post where I'll tell you everything that we have decided related to the updates.

I mentioned this on our previous post as well, but here it is again:

In Short


Schedule Summary


If you don't want to read everything, I won't blame you! Here is a summary of our schedule:

  1. Sep 1st - Sep 8th: Daily hotfixes. (for most part)
  2. Sep 9th - Sep 30th: Weekly hotfixes + QOL, we'll be focusing on making the game as stable (and less annoying) as we can.
  3. Oct 1st - Oct 31st: Weeklyish hotfixes, Focus on QOL + we'll start proper development on the next content patch, expect more sneak peeks and news around this time.
  4. November: Full focus on 1.1 Update, we'll try to release it around the end of the month.
  5. December: Frequent hotfixes for 1.1 Update, we'll probably plan more stuff around this time.

1.1 Update Content Summarized


Now, if you want to know the confirmed content we have planned for 1.1:

  • Bank NPC: Unlocked after you amass some amount of money, will allow for things related to retrieving and storing gold, chips... orbs? Shenanigans may include a credit card.
  • New Loadouts: Starting deck variety, as well as a secondary starting artifact for each clan.
  • New Tower Dangers: More difficulties! ...I guess you guys like that?
  • New Orbs: Specially for clans!
  • Late Game Content: Some of you already unlocked almost everything, somehow! I am happy! So we'll have more for you.
  • And more!

Now, the Details


Hotfixes and Stability


Probably the most important situation to address is that yes, Gamble Tower is pretty unstable, and I deeply apologize for it.
There is a lot of different reasons, but here is no place for excuses. (I'll be making a video for our YouTube channel explaining why, if you are interested!)

Launch Week


More importantly is: that during this week we are trying to deploy hotfixes almost every single day (yesterday was an exception), and we hope to be able to provide a much more stable experience by the end of the week.
We are doing everything in our power to fix the plethora of bugs and lack of QOL that are popping up, so please, feel free to continue sending any issues that you find through Steam Discussions or our Discord!

It's only through your reports that we become aware of some bugs, and some reports are so helpful that they help us understand what is happening and how to fix it! So don't be shy!
You are helping Gamble Tower become a better game! :)

Post-Launch Week


However! I cannot keep this frequency up for post-launch.
And as such from the next week onwards we'll be deploying 1 to 2 hotfixes per week instead of daily.
(There may be more, but that is the amount that we can promise to have.)

We are not full time devs, so during weekdays I usually only have the early morning and the very late night to do develop, which unfortunately is not enough for deploying a significant amount or quality of fixes that you guys deserve.

Another reason is that some bugs and QOL features NEED time, specially when they involve changing how something works. (refactoring stuff.)
If we rush fixing things, we'll end breaking more stuff than we are fixing, so I hope you understand.

1.1 Content Planning


Yes, we made a tier list. Actually... four tier lists.


We still need to meet and plan the nitty'n gritty of everything we plan to add, but we managed to at least confirm most of the core content we wish to have for the 1.1.
disclaimer: tier list subject to change.


Basically, the tier lists for each one of us (Ian, Camila and Jaqueta) is just a tool to express what we can and want to have in the game the most.
There is some content we really wanted to add but it is completely unviable development-wise, reasons usually include: too much development time, having to rebuild core systems from scratch or the infamous "this will certainly break all the other systems".

After 1.1 Update (1.2?)


We'll decide and plan when we are there (well, a little bit before that, I hope).
But for most part, if something doesn't make the cut for 1.1, we'll transfer that to another patch, if feasible.

  • Expedition Results “Talk to Gambler” text is now displayed correctly.
  • Combat Gamble UI will temporarily hide while a Character Hover Information UI is visible.
  • Fixed an issue where receiving Mana would show “+X Armor” instead of “+X Mana”.
  • Saves on the Inn should now properly show “The Inn” instead of garbage expedition data.
  • Continue Button now displays “The Inn” thumbnail for saves on the Inn. (instead of garbage expedition data)
  • Pause Menu should now appear above any other UI and have a subtle black background

  • Fixed a NullReferenceException when using orbs while having the “Crystallized Magic” skill. (Could cause a bunch of errors and inconsistencies)
  • Fixed a NullReferenceException related to the Saving Popup
  • Fixed a NullReferenceException related to the Warden and Loan Shark character cards
  • Disabled autosave during tutorials

Localization, Strange Wording and Typos



  • Fixed double “to” on: Crystal Shop - Aggression Crystal "Until the end of combat, add 12 ATK to to the target." (Thanks Kaziglu Bey)

Known Issues



  • There are some unlocks that may happen between saves. (Sometimes if you are on a specific save and then start a new game or load another save, an unlock from the previous save may happen on the new save)
  • Audio settings reset upon clicking off the game and back again (thanks Hörnchen for the report and clip)

  • Right-clicking on a Character’s hud will also display Character HUD.
  • Save Menu revamp to display dates and autosaves inside the original save
  • Character Discard Service. (probably some NPC that lets you remove Characters)
