Today we wanted to announce that sadly, we will be retiring Gamecraft.
We're proud of what we have done in the past year and a half, especially enabling players to make games as complex as Quake with blocks, but sadly the sales of the game have been extremely low
We had hoped that during Early Access the sales would have been able to sustain the development to 1.0, But Gamecraft does not seem to have struck a chord with the Steam audience.
So, we have made the difficult decision to retire Gamecraft. All existing players will be able to keep the game forever, and it will stay in their libraries. Additionally, the workshop functionality will remain so you’ll still be able to download and share with others online.
Thank you for being a part of this journey.

Update Out Now! Spring Blocks, Chairs, Doors and Centre of Mass
Hello Gamecrafters,
A new update has launched for Gamecraft and contains new blocks, reworked blocks, chairs, doors and a powerful Centre of Mass block. We are looking forward to seeing your feedback on this update and can't wait to see how these new blocks give you greater power to create.
A powerful block that lets you move a creation’s centre of mass. This block will make many of the already made vehicles much more stable and improve how driving feels. Taller vehicles for example will take a bit more effort to try and topple them over as you can see from the comparison gif below.
Reworked Spring Block
The spring block is now far more powerful and offers more accurate suspension. Below is an example of springs before the update, compared to what they will look after todays update
N.B: These improvements are quite extensive so they are likely to change how creations and games function. We’ve found a lot of them still work more or less the same, with some very noticeable improvements, while others might need a bit of tweaking to get the same behaviour if they relied on specific behaviour or stats. Spring based pressure plates are one example of this.
While we always try to avoid breaking existing content as much as possible, we really felt the benefits of this rework far outweigh the negatives this time round.
Hinge Spring block and the Axle spring block
These two spring based blocks offer a variety of building opportunities. Firstly, the spring hinge works very similar to the current hinge, but has a default resting position which it will return to when no force is applied. It can create flexible suspension as seen from this machine.
The second is the Axle spring, which is a rotator block, that works similar to the current Axles. This block will also return to its default position when no force is applied. We created a few examples of this in action including a vehicle with Torsion suspension
And a battering ram that can be operated by Leo himself!
New Chairs And Doors
This update will also include several chair and door variants. You can check them out in the swanky adverts below:
We also reworked servo, stepper and pneumatic joints to give them much more power and addressed a few bugs with them. The link to the full patch notes is at the top of this announcement.
N.B: As with the Spring rework, some creations that rely on the old strength/speed/behaviour of these joints being used in specific ways may not function the same anymore. The incredible new strength of these parts was simply too good not to commit to. Stacked joints are one of the more commonly affected areas.
Update Launches Tomorrow! New Spring Blocks, Centre of Mass, Chairs, Doors!
Hello Gamecrafters!
Tomorrow, a new update will go live! This will contain reworked springs and joints, new spring blocks, a Centre of Mass block and some more door and chair variants. There will be a great mix of changes and additions coming tomorrow. Check out the full patch notes below!
Reworked Damped Spring Block!
The Damped Spring has been an integral building part for a while now but it can feel a little underpowered. We’ve completely overhauled the way these work so you’ll find them incredibly powerful now.
This was made possible with our recent Havok update and helped address several complaints that the community had regarding this block.
As you can see in the image above, the new springs can handle more movement and thus give a smoother ride across bumpy terrain.
The reworked springs also gave us more power and the ability to set the extension length, of course, we created a spring loaded car launcher!
N.B: Due to the nature of these changes, the stats on existing springs could not be carried over. In most cases builds will still function close to the same, but some will certainly be different.
The Centre of Mass Block.
This handy dandy block allows you to set a vehicle's centre of mass. This can be used to give vehicles more stability, balance your hovercrafts and much more. If one of these blocks is attached to a cluster, the Centre of Mass of that cluster will biome this block’s position. You can also add a little extra offset via a tweakable stat.
For example, without a CoM block, a top heavy vehicle turning could topple over quite easily:
But by adding the Centre of Mass block and placing it towards the bottom of the vehicle, this bus will be much more stable and can take sharp corners with ease
Hinge Spring Block And Axle Spring Block
There will be two new powerful spring block additions in this update.
The first block is the Hinge Spring. This block works similarly to the standard hinge block, but with a resting position when no force is applied to it.
This new block would allow you to create doors and contraptions that could push against your vehicle or character. For example, there would be certain Hinge Springs that Leo, as a character, can easily push through, but a strengthened spring would be impossible for Leo to push through and he’ll need a vehicle with more power.
The Hinge Spring also allows for a new type of suspension and can create some rather hypnotic vehicles that are able to traverse harsh bumpy terrain while also making the ride smooth for the driver:
The second spring based block is the Axle Spring. A rotational spring block that will bounce back into its initial position when no force is applied to it. Of course you can set varying levels of strength to customise this blocks situational usefulness!
We created a few fun contraptions with this new block including a battering ram.
A vehicle with Torsion suspension.
And seesaw platforms.
New Door Variants
On the 12th of December, we revealed that we'd be adding four new door variants with a stylish advert
These doors function as the unpowered doors, so Leo can push through them.
New Chairs
We also revealed new chairs on the 13th of December via another advert!
Servo/Stepper/Pneumatic Joints Rework
These parts have always been a powerful tool, but have been considered a bit on the weak side. We’re ramping up the power on these parts to make them incredibly strong. No more stacking joints to get more power. No more relying on Physics blocks for that extra oomph.
These changes do make Pneumatics a little slower (still x5 faster than Servos). This is mainly due to their incredible strength letting them push through other objects a little too easily.
Other Changes
Bit Blocks can now have their initial value set! This logic block can now be set as 0 or 1 during Time Stopped, so you don’t have to manually set this block with some extra wiring.
Bug Fixes
Fixed an error that could occur when creating wires
Default world is now flat and correctly grid aligned
Fixed a couple of errors that could occur when connecting to larger multiplayer games (More fixes and improvements are coming next year!)
Fixed a bug that caused pistons to jitter when retracting
Fixed a bug that caused Leo to play the Pilot Seat animation in all seats
Potential fix for users that were experiencing incorrect blueprint thumbnails
Fixed an issue that could prevent commands from being activated while at a low framerate

Axle Spring Block - Coming In The 16th December Update
Hello Gamecrafters!
Today, we’re revealing a block that a few players in our Discord were requesting. The Axle Spring.
This particular block is a rotational spring which means that it will bounce back into its default position when no force is applied to it. Varying levels of strength can be set and you can create a few fun contraptions.
First, we created a working Battering ram which is activated by pulling it and then releasing. This will spring the ram forward beyond its initial reach and does a number on this breakable wall
Then, we made a vehicle that has Torsion suspension
The spring axles can be used to create see saw style platforms for Leo and other vehicles to interact with.
The Spring Axle is the last reveal before the update launches on the 16th of December! Tomorrow we’ll be creating a detailed announcement of everything revealed with full patch notes .
See you tomorrow! The Gamecraft Team
New Chairs Coming In The 16th December update
New Variants of Doors Coming December 16th!
The Spring Hinge Block! Coming 16th December
Earlier this week we revealed the reworked damped spring block. Today, we’re introducing a brand new block called the spring hinge block!
The spring hinge works a little bit like a normal hinge, except it has a resting position. This means that the spring will normally return back to its original position once no force is applied to it.
One of the best examples of this is creating a simple door and comparing the differences between a normal hinge block and the new spring hinge block
while using a spring hinge, you can see from the gif below that Leo has to put a little bit of force in to open the door. Once Leo is out of the way, the spring hinge will then return back to it’s set resting potion.
You can also configure the springs stiffness, damping, as well as its minimum and maximum angle.
Leo for example can only push through a door of this size when set to 0.1 stiffness. But a vehicle would be able to go through a door with greater stiffness settings due to the amount of power that vehicle would exert.
The spring hinge block can be used to even create alternative angled suspension. Here’s a test of the bug bot we created. Notice how the body of the vehicle is nearly motionless!
Leo can also use the spring as a diving board. With a well timed jump, you can launch leo higher than his standard jump too!
Tomorrow we’ll be revealing new door variants which will be a part of the 16th of December update.

New Centre of Mass Block Coming 16th December
Hello Gamecrafters!
Yesterday we revealed the reworked Damped spring. If you have not seen that announcement, please do check oit out as parts of that announcement are good reference points for today's annoucnement.
The Centre Of Mass Block
Today we’re revealing the Centre of Mass Block! This will be part of the update due December 16th.
This handy block lets you move an object's centre of mass to increase stability. There are a selection of vehicles that players have made which have a tendency to tilt and fall over. Most notably vehicles that are quite top heavy like buses.
Placing the Centre of Mass block however brings the centre of mass to the point where the cube has been placed. Now, with the very same vehicle, it is much more stable while turning when you move the centre of mass to the underside of the bus.
You can make adjustments to further shift the centre of mass slightly in the configuration menu.
We applied one of the centre of Mass blocks to a Warthog created by the community and the changes in stability are seen instantly!
[previewyoutube="f2sklR_229s;full"]
Centre of Mass can also affect stationary objects too and can make them more or less stable depending on the placement of the Centre of Mass cube.
This block in combination with the reworked Damped springs will be able to provide you with vehicles that feel much better to control!
We still have a few more announcements to go, tomorrow we’re revealing another new block called the Spring Hinge block. Here is the breakdown for the next few days

Damped Spring Blocks: Launching Cars and Improved Suspension!
Hello Gamecrafters!
We’re planning to release a new update to Gamecraft on the 16th of December. This update will feature new blocks and objects for you to place within your games and creations.
Today, we’re springing into action by revealing details on the reworked damped spring. A lot of players use this spring to assist them with suspension for various vehicles. With our transition to the Havok engine, we were able to address several complaints that the community had regarding how strings worked.
In combination with a new block that we’ll be revealing tomorrow, we feel that the new springs will make driving much more satisfying than ever before! We’ll reveal more news on that soon.
The Reworked Damped Spring
Previously, players were only able to adjust the stiffness and damping. However in the next update players can also adjust the max extension too!
If you’re a fan of the toy sets that allow you to launch toy cars over ramps, Springs can now have the power to launch cars across ramps too!
Improved suspension for vehicles
Because the length of the spring can be set, this means that Suspension for vehicles works much more efficiently. A lot of players were putting a lot of springs on their set up or even creating motor based springs to improve the suspension of their vehicles.
Vehicles who already have springs attached will be affected by this change and it should make your vehicles much more stable when going over bumpy roads.
In the gif below, the top image shows the current live version of the Damped spring, whereas the bottom image shows the new springs which will be put into the game on December 16th.
You should notice that the bottom gif’s suspension is raising and lowering to keep the vehicle’s body steady. Whereas the top image, the springs are barely making any sort of movement and instead the whole body of the vehicle is jumping around and making the vehicle incredibly unstable.
Tomorrow we’ll be revealing another block, which combined with the changes above to springs, will make driving feel so much better. So here’s our plans for the next few days!
9th December - Reworked Damped Spring Block reveal 10th December - New Centre Of Mass Block reveal 11th December - New block reveal 12th December - New object reveal 13th December - New object reveal 14th December - New block reveal 15th December - Full patch notes! 16th December - Update goes live
Do make sure to add Gamecraft to your wishlist if you haven’t yet! We’ll be back tomorrow with more details on the Centre of Mass block.
