Solo Combo 2

Hello Brave Gatewalkers!

Welcome to the second part of the solo combo article. If you haven't read the previous article - we encourage you to read it!

Briefly, the ability to unlock solo combo starts at Tier 3, when you can unlock a recipe for an epic or legendary version of the weapon. Then you are granted the possibility to forge a new, improved weapon. To use a solo combo, you have to make sure the ability is ready. The solo combo icon on the main bar will show you when the solo combo is ready to cast. One thing that is good to know - you don’t have to memorize the combination. After clicking the solo combo button, the combination will be shown on the screen all the time:

Then you have to fight using the correct sequence of skills, and the solo combo will appear automatically:

Epic/Legendary weapons are game-changers for Gatewalkers. Solo combos have completely different, much more powerful abilities than the usual player abilities. They deal a lot of damage to enemies within a wide range, and many more! Some solo combos focus on damage, some on restoring shield, every weapon deals different bonuses, etc. It is worth knowing the capabilities of each weapon in advance and choosing the one that suits your tactics. Both epic and legendary versions of a given weapon share the same solo combo, but the legendary version is stronger.

Below are examples of solo combos with descriptions.

Warhammer (Stunning Aura - Four bursts of energy striking 2 sec. Apart. Each burst deals 777 damage to all enemies in a 7m radius and stuns all enemies for 0,5 sec.)

Dual Dagger (Ultimate Toxin - Throw with a dagger that poisons enemies dealing 1026 damage per second for 4 sec.)

Qubic (Orbital Strike - Every 2 sec. For 4 sec. shoots a laser within a 10 m. radius from the player. Each meteor creates AOE that deals 800 damage in a 2 m. radius)

Light Energy Catalyst (Pillar of Light - All allies in a 7m. radius get 25% shield restoration per second, the effect lasts 5 sec.)

Great Sword (Etheral Guardians - Every ally within 10 m. range summons 2 energy orbs that will continue to orbit around them for 6 sec. Orbs grant 50% to movement speed. Contact with the enemy dissipates the orb’s energy dealing 1166 damage to the target and restoring the owner’s shield by 442)

Great Hammer (Sky Rage - Meteor rain every second for 4 sec. 3 meteors fall within the radius of 10 m. from the player. Each meteor creates AOE which deals 700 damage in a 2 m. radius)

Dark Catalyst (Pillar of Darkness - All allies on 7m m. radius get +20% damage dealt bonus for 5 sec)

Battle Axe (Predecessor Axe - Summons the predecessor axe which spins in a 2 m. range around the player. It deals 1366 damage per second and lasts for 10 seconds)

Note: The figures provided are examples only. The range and/or damage value can increase with the higher tier of the weapon.

What do you think about the weapons and their solo combos? We tried to make them unique, but also effective! Which weapon would you like to try the most?

Solo Combo

Hello Brave Gatewalkers!

This article will show you something that excites every Gatewalker - solo combos!

They are not only exciting and effective but also deal a lot of damage and can help you to win every fight faster! That’s why a lot of Gatewalkers make this a priority in their fighting tactic.

So how can you actually do a solo combo? From Tier 3 you have the possibility to buy epic or legendary versions of every weapon (you can buy them in any sequence you want).

Epic weapons and Legendary weapons deal more damage than basic weapons. Legendary weapons are stronger than Epic weapons.

If you have an Epic or Legendary weapon you gain the possibility to cast a solo combo. Every weapon has a different solo combo. You can induce a solo combo by doing a mouse/keyboard (or pad) combination as shown below.

Solo combos are powerful - they have a big range and deal a lot of damage. Every weapon has a different combo, so it’s good to know them beforehand. Let us show you what they look like!

Force Staff (Rotating Beam combo - shoots a beam that rotates around the player. Deals 537 damage per second, 6m long, and lasts for 6 seconds)

Spell Sword (Sonic Wave combo - shoots a sonic wave around the player. Deals 2189 damage in a 7m radius. Affected targets are stunned for 1 sec.)

Rifle (Volley combo - shoots bullets around in a radius of 5 m. Deals 5433 damage and stuns targets for 2 sec.)

Grenade Launcher (Shrapnel Shot combo - deals 3188 damage to all enemies in 7m in front of the player)

Broadsword (Parry Strike combo - creates a barrier ready to absorb up to 1995 damage and explodes after 4 sec. The explosion deals 1104 damage in 4m radius. The damage of explosion scales with the damage absorbed by the barrier; an explosion from a depleted barrier will have 100% increased damage)

Bow (Ghost Arrow combo - fires a series of spiritual arrows in all directions every 1s for 5 s. Shoots 554 damage to everyone in 5m radius)

Attention: Damage points given above are just an example - they are increasing with the higher tier of weapons.

What do you think about solo combos? Would you like to see more weapons and their combos? If yes, we can make part 2 of this article!

Combat in Different Worlds

Hello Brave Gatewalkers!

Playing the ARPG game is not only about winning the fight or achieving the highest rank - it's more about the process and fun you have during different adventures. The satisfaction coming from the realization of your goal with your own skills is priceless.

That's why, in Gatewalkers, you can explore different dimensions. This way, players won't get bored with repeatability and must adapt to new surroundings. Every world brings new challenges - combat and survival in each require a different tactic. Let's sum up the most critical challenges of fighting in various worlds:

Forest World

“The night came, and it was so dense that I couldn't even see my hand. I wanted to make a fire quickly, but before I could get a branch… It showed up. A Nightmare. A huge black mass. Legs, lots of legs, but also claws... The fear took me completely. I began chaotically swinging the hammer, but it felt like I was hitting the air.”

Forest World is the first you will explore in the game. Also, it will be probably the world you will visit more frequently. Why? Because it's full of resources. Wood, stones, animals, mushrooms and berries, different herbs, and clean water are essentials you need to survive. It seems to be a pretty pleasant place to be. However, it's full of various creatures - and I am not talking only about the monkeybats! Hyenas, giant deers, Surian camps… Another challenge is a deep night. If the player gets lost in madness, her/his subconscious will spawn nightmare creatures!

Ice World

“Dangers lurk around here somewhere. I have met one huge animal already. It resembled a polar bear but was much more aggressive and had terrifying fangs. Luckily I took the best weapon with me.”

Ice world has many deeps and plateaus, and it's impossible to get through any of them since they're unimaginably vast. To survive, players should craft warm clothes, eat adequate food, and use heat sources, like campfires, to warm themselves. Blizzards are one of the hazardous features of the Ice world. Another one? Giant wild animals. They have one plus, though - you can use some of their meat or fur after killing them.
But don't think they are the only inhabitants of the Ice World! Some Surian tribes seem to be visiting the place. They abandoned the traditional Surian look and have been seen wearing warm furry coats. Moreover, they have developed unique powers, and some Gatewalkers saw them extracting energy from ice and coldness... What are they planning to do?!

Toxic World

“ Before I could think, they pounced on me. They beat me up badly, but I managed to kill them. However, struggling for life also used up all the air. I began to choke. I stumbled, unable to catch my breath...”

When it comes to the toxic world, it is very challenging. The air is contaminated, making breathing almost impossible without proper equipment. There is no food or water. The terrain is mountainous; The top is a safe spot, but the lower you travel, the more dangerous it becomes. Dangerous creatures are hiding deep in the Toxic world undergrounds... They hide in caves where the air is less toxic, poison anyone who dares to enter their home, and then feed on opponents' bodies.

Sky Rocks

“A huge creature resembling a bird appeared in front of us. Wings, sharp claws, furious eyes. And after we finished fighting it, I felt something strange. My hair started to rise and my body shuddered. I felt as if I was drawing some unknown force towards me.”

Sky Rocks is the place that young Gatewalkers visit only after receiving proper training. Why? Because at first, it seems like a weird (for some even charming) but not so difficult place and they lower their guard. Who would be scared of large mushrooms and broken windmills anyway? However, the planet is quite tricky. Dense fog makes it difficult to navigate. The space is filled with energy, and the streaks of lightning are induced to get rid of it. During exploration, dynamic actions (such as combat) cause electrical charges to accumulate in living organisms. A deadly electrostatic discharge may occur if that electrical charge surpasses a critical level! It is also a home for Volarians, a winged humanoid race capable of thriving in the skies. They don't like to be disturbed…

Fire World

“And then a vast creature that looked like a magma ball jumped out of the crater. I thought it might be an anomaly, but no... It was Fire Lavu. He grabbed one of ours and dragged him into the lava. He died right away, engulfed in liquid fire. Our screams alerted the Fireborns, who started running towards us, thinking we were preparing to attack.”

Fire World is a harsh and unfriendly location where Gatewalkers will face extreme temperatures and dangerous anomalies - fire tornados, geysers, and meteors! There is also no food or water, so it makes it very difficult to explore.
This dangerous environment led to the evolution of very mysterious creatures. In the heart of Fire World, you can find, for example, bizarre humanoids - Fireborns. Also, perilous beings like Fire Lavu jump out of the lava and attack unsuspecting victims. But don't think that they are the only ones! The fire world hides a lot of different creatures… At least we think so since Gatewalkers who return to the Guild after missions in Fire World are too exhausted to talk.

What World is the most interesting to you? And why?

Progress Tree - an explanation (part 2)

Dear Gatewalkers!

Last week we showed you what our progress tree looks like. We would like to explore what the structure looks like and how you can upgrade your weapons!

The rules are simple:

  • You start the game with Tier 1. If you upgrade to Tier 2, you can buy things from T1 and T2, but not T3.
  • We don’t have a classical “level up” mechanism. To upgrade you need to collect progress points, and then with an appropriate number of points, you can unlock a higher Tier.
  • You have to collect progress points to unlock recipes for weapons, armor, etc. What’s more, another player cannot give you a piece of better equipment if you don’t have an unlocked recipe for it, because you won’t be able to use it.
  • You are rewarded with progress points for completing quests and objectives. Also, you can look for ancient technology fragments. You will find them during your exploration of other Worlds. Then you need to give them to Victor in the laboratory, and he will reward you with progress points.

  • From Tier 3 you have the possibility to buy epic or legendary versions of every weapon, as well as elements. You can buy them in any sequence you want. Experienced Gatewalkers can gain a lot using them! But bear in mind that you are unlocking recipes for epic/legendary/elements only, so after buying you have to make a new weapon!

  • To create a weapon with an element you have to do it in the laboratory.Make sure you have all ingredients and then craft your weapon in one of the crafting stations.

  • Epic weapons and Legendary weapons deal more damage than basic weapons. Legendary weapons are stronger than epic weapons.

  • If you have an epic or legendary weapon you gain the possibility to cast a solo combo. Every weapon has a different solo combo. You can induce a solo combo by doing a mouse/keyboard (or pad) combination:

  • After enchanting your weapon with an element you will gain the possibility of a group combo. You can read all information about your element after clicking the button with your element icon in the main panel:

  • To do a group combo you need another player, who also has a weapon with an element. One player needs to stack the element’s effect on a mob fully, and then another player will see an icon above the mob - at this moment the second player has to use their weapon, and the group combo strikes! Here is an example of a Cold/Shock combo:

Here is an example of Staff progression - from Tier 1 to Tier 3 Legendary Staff with Heat element:

We will tell you (and show you!) more about solo and group combos in upcoming articles.

We hope you liked today’s post. What do you think about progressing weapons in Gatewalkers?

Progress Tree - an explanation

Dear Gatewalkers!

Today we are going to show you what our progress tree looks like.

If you played the demo you probably saw it, but you might have felt a bit lost because it’s quite vast! So, here is an easy explanation of all of the branches, so when you play you know exactly where to look for anything you want!

As you can see, the left side of the progress tree is all about weapons.

The right side is about equipment. The map is divided in two colors there - blue one is the clothes/armor part, and in the red triangle you can find rings and amulets as well as survival equipment (pickaxe, knife etc).

So now let’s focus on the weapons.

We divided the tree in three parts here - based on one basic three weapons. So, Force Staff T1 starts the magic weapons part, Warhammer T1 starts heavy weapons and Bow T1 divides into all kinds of bows, but also dual dagger, rifle, pistol and handgun!

So, for example if you are looking for a long sword, check out the branches starting from “warhammer”. But, if you want a spellsword or qubic, look in the magic area. Everything connected with magic is in one place.

Today we just gave an introduction, and in a week we will present exactly how the character progression system works, so stay frosty!

MEET THE CHARACTERS #6 - LOUIS MCCARTHY

Dear Gatewalkers!

Today we will tell you more about a character that you meet in Gatewalkers - Louis McCarthy.

The player meets Louis as a Chef of the Guild.

Louis used to be an active Gatewalker, known for his bravery. He served in one ward along with Markus Henrid in the years when both of them had just finished training. They both showed great battle skills and to this day older Gatewalkers are debating, if Louis hadn’t been wounded during one of the missions, would he be the warden of the Gate, instead of Markus?

Louis was released from service as a result of many injuries received during a mission to capture a horrible monster in the Ice world. It was not captured and in addition, took Louis' eye as a souvenir. The man did not want to give up his service, but in such a state he could no longer perform the tasks. The Guildmaster also did not want to expel the old friend from the Guild and let him stay.

Louis devoted himself to his second passion - cooking. Since that day, good-natured Louis has been trying to take care of every guild member, preparing wonderful dishes from products supplied by his companions, brought from different worlds. Louis has gained weight in the last years in the canteen, but don't let his appearance fool you. This giant can still defend himself and others!

He is good friends with Markus Henrid, Talah Kinith, Elana Kovnic, and Loulou Dupont. He doesn’t really like Viktor Hemming because he doesn’t understand a thing of his doings, Fritz Wagner (Louis called him “nothing but a dandy” which made Fritz so angry, that they don’t speak until this day) and Taiho Everdine, who for him is an aggressive brat.

Sky Rocks

Dear Gatewalkers!

Today we will share with you more information about one of the worlds you will explore during your play. This place is called “Sky Rocks” and it is a bit different than the worlds you have already explored.

The biggest difference is terrain - the mountains are in fact a complex of giant rocks, hanging in the air above the clouds. So, you can explore the land only by using drawbridges. The place creates a specific atmosphere - the space is filled with energy and to get rid of it, the streaks of lightning are induced. Also, you will face different creatures - giant raptors.

While walking around the world, players collect the charge. When the player collects 100% of the charge, he is struck by lightning. Lightning brings a large AOE dealing damage - 33% of max shield and destroys durability of all worn items by 10% (including perk).

To get rid of the charge, the player can stay close to the earthing devices that are already existing in the world (e.g. in ancient buildings), build an earthing device or enter a cave. In the cave, the charge slowly diminishes.

If the player has 80% or more charge, the earthing device will take the charge from the player and take the discharge on itself.
If a player with a load greater than 90% is near the earthing device, he loses the charge and the earthing device starts to charge the AOE with lightning and after a small delay the lightning strikes the earthing device. Everyone in range takes damage.

MEET THE CHARACTERS #5 - URSULINA TRAGAR

Dear Gatewalkers!

Today we will tell you more about a character that you meet in Gatewalkers - the librarian, Ursulina Tragar.

There is no older and wiser person in the Guild than Ursulina. Her knowledge is widely used. You can find her in a library - she basically lives there.

The Guildmaster often goes to her for advice on many matters. Ursulina also teaches general knowledge to young adepts. She loves the Guild and the library and takes care of precious books. Despite the general respect that every member of the Guild has for Ursulina, many Gatewalkers think she is a weirdo because of her beliefs. Ursulina thinks that many notes and materials prove that the cataclysm will come soon and destroy everything. She says that the world is dying cyclically to cleanse itself of the plague that fills it with the essence. Such a filled world is saturated with energy and is slowly being destroyed. The perpetrators of the plague die with the world, and the disease-free world blooms again and creates life. Ursulina believes that we should let the world die, not try to save it with an essence that can forever destroy it.

She is a quiet person who doesn’t get involved with other people’s businesses. She is only close with Victor Hemming, and Arvin Gabnis - the Swordmaster of the Guild. However, for some reason, she is mean towards Loulou Dupont, the huntress, and light armor master. No one knows what happened between them, but Ursulina is not keen on talking about that. Theodor Seed, the prophet, also makes her angry. Well, maybe he just has another opinion about the cataclysm?

MEET THE CHARACTERS #4 - VICTOR HEMMING

Hello Brave Gatewalkers!

Today we share with you more info about another character you met during the Demo - Victor Hemming!

Victor is constantly seeking answers about the nature of the world in which we live. That’s why he became Guild’s Master Academic.

From an early age, he was fixated with artifacts of the ancients. He studied every material he could find. He was the most talented student of Ursulina Tragar, who believed that Victor may be the first one to figure out all of the Ancient’s secrets. He was a very smart person indeed, but his obsession led him to dangerous experiments. His strive to find out the truth made him the most eminent scholar in the Guild but also marked him with diseases that entail too long exposure to the ancient essence. The essence damaged his skin, hair, eyes… It is slowly killing him, but the irony is, that he feels alive only when exposed to it.

The growing pressure to discover the truth, the essence, solitary life… Victor became a little insane. He is a person who is very hard to cope with. His strange ways and coldness towards people are what make him the most disliked person in the entire Guild. The only friend he has is his old teacher, Ursulina. The rest tries to avoid him at all costs.

GATHERING RESOURCES

Hello Gatewalkers!

Today, we'll briefly introduce you to another aspect of the game - gathering resources.

In Gatewalkers we diversify the collection of raw materials with an additional aspect, which is an uncommon and rare collection.

Breakdown of raw materials:
common - raw materials commonly available. Additionally, these resources can be tier and can be processed in crafting stations. Usually, common tier resources are processed into a processed version and only then we craft the target items from them (the exception is tier 1). This is the basis for most crafting recipes.

Examples: Fiber, Wood, Ore, Hide

uncommon - resources that drop from nodes of common resources, but usually only have some chance of falling while mining. The chance of dropping depends on the level of the tool you use. These are the resources that will be rather used for T3 + weapons (other recipes also, e.g. rings, will require silver or gold)

Examples: sulfur, silicon, silver, gold, resin, seeds.

rare - resources that have their own name and do not have tiers. They have their representation in the world and are hard to find.

Examples: starstone, moonlight flower.

At the time of extracting resources, it is checked with what tools we have extracted. Example of operation: We extract IronOre using PickAxe. Over time, the tools wear out and new ones have to be made.

Remember that every world has different resources, so during your quests take a few minutes to gather them! And also keep in mind to have some extra wood to create new tools.
