Release v1.607 - Dedicated Server Gamemaster Fixed, Vehicle Damage Fix!

The GearStorm dev team fixed the problems stopping our dedicated server hosts from becoming Gamasters/admins on their servers. We have also fixed a problem causing players to be mysteriously damaged by parked vehicles. Numerous other fixes and performance improvements are also in this release.

Release v1.606 - Bug Fixes, Dedicated Server Improvements!

Release v1.605 - Fixes, Improved Vehicle Cockpits, New Map Content, Balancing!

Another feature and fix-packed release from the GearStorm dev team! The dev team is very engaged with the community and in addition to adding new content, we are fixing things just reported two days ago!



In this release we put a lot of effort in vehicle cockpits:




Did you know GearStorm has a fully accurate, Physx-based wheeled-vehicle simulator complete with suspension and wheeled vehicles that can jump? This release fixes wheeled vehicle collisions with players and NPCs:




There is also new content on the survival map including Bordertown:





And a awesome new underground ICA base:






Fixes for destroying base cores, Solar panels, and generators were also added in response to our community feedback.

Re-balancing of the default cost for Bedrolls and CP was also done in response to community feedback.

GearStorm Release v1.604 - Fixes, New Campaign Stories, New Bases in Survival!

We are still very focused on quality and this release fixes several more crashes our community reported using our new crash reporter. We are jumping on these as top priorities and once again this release eliminates all the reported crashes.  There is now a frame-rate cap of 120 to avoid cooking your PC and video card during menu time or low-activity time that should help the impact GearStorm has on your system.  Bugs affecting saves and loads and alerts about new a Campaign.

There are new graphic effects for harvested items now that show your resources being generated:




We also added new story content to the Campaign mode and we are still adjusting the mission markers to make more sense for new players and tie elements of the story together better. 

This release also has some new things in the Survival mode. There are new bandit camps and bandit dog spawners you can encounter in your travels!

Our new crash reporter has already enabled you, our community to report 3 crashes. We are jumping on these as top priorities and this release addresses all three!

We also added some story to the Campaign mode and adjusted some mission markers to make more sense for new players and tie elements of the story together better. Mission markers are labeled now in the HUD to further clarify where to go for what.

This release also has some changes to the balance of Survival, how spawners are marked on the maps, and what spawns in caves to make it more fun!

GearStorm gets the Coronavirus! Donating April Profits to Covid-19 Research.

GearStorm Gets Coronavirus Awareness Behavior Modeling, All April Profits Donated to Covid-19 Research! New Biohazard Content, Airborne Zombie Virus, Coughing, Masks, Social Distancing.



Iron City Games is promoting Coronavirus awareness and prevention with a new addition to GearStorm.  GearStorm now has a airborne zombie virus, the player and NPCs can be infected, hand sanitizre, anti-viral medication, and masks.  The new Vanguard quest in the hanger bay will show you how everything works.  We are also donating 100% of all proceeds from the sale of GearStorm in the month of April to Covid-19 research!  

Airborne Zombie Virus!



In GearStorm, the Zombies don't bite you, they cough on you!  And they DO NOT respect social distancing!  When they do, they can infect you with the Phage virus!



You can also still be infected by getting hit by zombies.

New Infection Status:



When you are infected, you occasionally cough, if you aren't social distancing, you can infect other NPCs in the game, they also cough and spread the virus to other NPCs and even back to you if you get the cure!



New Coronovirus Prevention and Cure Loot!



GearStorm now has masks, helmets, and sanitizer to prevent infection by the Phage virus.  Also, there is a cure in the game you can learn about by doing the new infection quest in the Vanguard.

New Release! v.1.599 - Virus survival, survival map, skills system!

Community members, v1.599 is here! This is huge release with a new infection model that brings the Phage virus into the game, enhancements for campaign mode, a whole new survival mode and map, new content and environmental challenges, the introduction of our new skills tree, and all the bug fixes and performance enhancements we could pack into the release!  This release also starts our automated crash reporting phase as we look to improve reliability for publishing our final release.  Please help us out by sending in those crash reports whenever they pop up!

Enemy-Spawning Nests:



Now when you roam the vast open world of Apollyon, in addition to the myriad of different encounters you could experience, you can now encounter nests spawning hordes of monsters and wild beasts!  You can destroy the nest or stalk the things spawned from it for XP endlessly or harvest it for resources.



Quest Markers:



To make it easier for our players to find their next step in a quest, we have added quest markers that show up on you HUD marking your next objective, happy questing!



Survive the Virus!



We have implemented the first phase of our infection by the Phage virus!  Players can now be infected if they take hits from a zombie after their shield is down.  Wearing a helmet or mask reduces your chances of infection.  There is also a cure you can develop for yourself and your colonists.  



New Vanguard Encounters:



We've upped our early game with some combat encounters in the campaign starting phase (Vanguard).



Less Night!



In response to feedback from our players we have adjusted the day/night cycle.  Day currently lasts twice as long as night, this can be changed in the game.ini file.  



New Survival Game!



The new survival experience has been released with a new map, nests and trader cities, ruins and outposts to attack and loot, and tutorial features for new players!



New Skills System!



The new skills system is here and represents a complete skill tree with perks against certain types of enemies, skills for crafting and using items, much more to come as we build out the skills tree system.

Hey friends, we're so excited to release V1.596 because there are significant updates on this version so you might want to update your game. Alright let's get into it real quick:

Highlight 1 - You get to choose new heads, hair, eyes and change eye and hair color

Have you ever pressed "HOME" on your keyboard and you look at your character and go, "Wouldn't it be nice if I get to personalize my character's face?




What if we tell you that you can now customize your look? Now you can totally show off how you look like on your social media / our Discord server.

Highlight 2 - New weapon effects! Watch zombies running in flames and getting knocked back!

Most of our weapons now have cool effects on the enemies, they no longer just die like that, if you use your flamethrower on them, they actually catch fire, let's be real here, isn't that something you want to witness?


Look at them running in flames... And then die.

Our shotguns got some upgrades too! Look at the zombie getting knocked back when you fire at them! Isn't this neat?
