Version 1.51 - New items, new hand-made maps, and other improvements

Hey y'all! Today we have a new Gem Wizards Tactics update rolling out. The most exciting thing about this was the inclusion of hand-made maps, with names and identity! I think these kinds of things go a long way to helping places in Gem Wizards Tactics really feel like places, and not just abstract collections of tiles.

Version 1.50! Small bug fixes, QoL, analytics

Gem Wizards Tactics is now available on the Switch and XBox Series X|S! Also, we have two new exciting games in the works! Sign up for our mailing list at keithburgun.net to learn more about them!

- A new quality of life feature that prompts you if you try to end your turn without having selected all your units yet.

Version 1.49! Omnigolem changes, bugfixes, polish, and more!

Hello everyone! This update actually has quite a large number of small bugfixes and stuff, but one of the biggest gameplay changes is a bunch of changes to Omni-Golems, which... just weren't exactly doing their jobs right before. I think these changes ought to help them do what they're meant to do a bit more, while also being a bit less disruptive.

Also, I'm working hard on TWO new KBGames games. One of which is a tabletop card game (kind of a spiritual sequel to Dragon Bridge), and the other is, of course, Castle of the Secret Arts, a narrative deckbuilding/MTG 1P collectible card game. And, on top of that, we have a new BoardGameArena version of Dragon Bridge hitting BGA in the coming months. I'm really excited about that.

Note about update schedules: The Steam version should be up basically right now. Mobile versions should be coming today as soon as they're approved. However, Switch and XBox versions are on their own timelines, with updates managed by RedDeerGames.

Version 1.49
- Many changes to Omni Golems!
- Omni-Golems now no longer spawn in Campaign Mode
- Omni-Golems now take 1 turn longer to spawn.
- Omni-Golem Shatter Scream damage 7 => 5. Does 0 damage to summons, however.
- Omni-Golem Shatter Scream knockback 1 => 10
- Omni-Golem AP 3 => 5
- More improvements to font sizes for mobile
- Teleport no longer takes fire damage between teleported tiles.
- Fixed a bug with the Rank 10 achievement not happening until Rank 11
- Fixed an issue with Reapers pulling units into holes
- Fixed issues with stats screen
- More small bugfixes

Gem Wizards Tactics 1-Year Anniversary!

Today is Gem Wizards Tactics 1-year anniversary! So much has happened in this last year, and I'm really proud of the game that GWT has become in that time. Also, if you haven't noticed, Gem Wizards Tactics is now available on mobile platforms, and it's coming to Switch and XBox on the 18th! :O I've always dreamed of having a cool, original, challenging 1P strategy game that's truly cross platform, and by the end of this week, we'll have done it!

We also have new features coming soon, more balance changes and other gameplay improvements, so even one year on, we're not done! Stay tuned for more updates.

I also wanted to give everyone a heads up about my future projects, and how you can best stay tuned about them. I have two games in development currently. One is going to be another 1P digital game, although this one is a digital card game with a lot of narrative elements. I put up this video recently to showcase a song and a piece of art from the game. I wrote the song and I really tried to make Michiru Yamane proud - let me know what you think of it!

I also have a VERY cool competitive tabletop card game in the works that's kind of a spiritual sequel to my card game, Dragon Bridge.

Version 1.48!

Hey y'all! As you probably know, Gem Wizards Tactics has come to iOS and Android! Definitely pick up a copy on those platforms if you like playing tactics games on your phone. As always, there's no in app purchases or anything like that. Also, Game Center and Google Play Games are supported. So definitely get on that!

Some of these changes are specific to the mobile version, but we also have a bunch of balance changes, so Azure and Alcove players in particular, check it out.

I'm also excited about the new JUKEBOX MODE, that allows you to randomize the songs while playing.

More exciting stuff is around the corner, so stay tuned! <3

Version 1.48
- Increased the size of some fonts on mobile
- Replaced "click" with "touch" and other desktop-specific language for mobile versions
- Improvements to pinch-zoom and panning behaviors
- Many tooltips improved
- Order Ice Elemental now creates floe first (so you can cast it on flame without the elemental taking damage immediately)
- Order Ice Elemental health 5 > 10
- You can't walk through a friendly tile if they're standing on glass (a rare situation)
- Minor improvements for the Campaign Hub screen
- In the in-game Options screen, you can now select "Randomize Songs" which will play a random song after your faction's song is done playing.

ALCOVE CHANGES
The Alcove Prefex is our newest faction, so they've still got a little bit of balance/improvements coming. Here's a bunch!
- May has a new passive that allows her to come back to life after being killed!
- Sniper Overwatch range increased by 1
- Removed Hacker's passive ability
- Alcove Twinbot damage 4-6 => 3-4
- Sniper base attack 1=>2
- Energy Shield now removes Radiation Sickness.
- Mutation defense penalty -2 => -3

GWT gets a new faction: the Alcove Prefex



Introducing the ALCOVE PREFEX, Gem Wizards Tactics' fifth faction!

Because of how complex this game is, in terms of units, abilities, buffs and whatnot, and how original each faction is from each other, each "faction" is kind of huge. It's more like a new Starcraft faction than it is like a new Advance Wars faction, that's for sure.

So when we launched with three factions, I thought that was a pretty decent amount of complexity for the game (same number as Starcraft!). But then we added the NEVERENDING PARTY to the game, and I was like, okay, now we have one MORE faction than Starcraft - that definitely ought to be enough.

Development was starting to wind down a few months ago, after the addition of the map editor. And it was just then that our head tester Reschiiv (Emil Klarsson) approached me about designing a faction for the game! :O

So now, here you have it, the first Gem Wizards Tactics faction by a guest designer! Reschiiv did an amazing job both designing and then implementing this faction, and I can't thank him enough for his efforts. I wrote a song and did all the art and it was pretty much ready to go.

This is a very complex faction, for experienced players, I think. I've played with it a little bit and I can see the potential for some really amazing combos. Here's some of the neat stuff this faction can do:

- Summon two TWIN robots. If one robot dies, the other EXPLODES!
- Set up two warp pods that swap the places of two units standing on them
- HACK the terrain, copying large areas of tiles and terrain and swapping them with another position
- HACK other units and get them fighting for your team
- It has lasers and tanks and a WARMECH!

Oh, and I guess I haven't mentioned it, but we're not charging anything for this faction, or any of the additions to this game. It's FREE! So you have no excuse but to go check it out, and let us know what you think!

I'm getting started on a new project, so I don't expect there to be a lot in the way of new Gem Wizards Tactics updates over the next few months. That said, the game will be hitting other platforms soon, so stay tuned for that.
